Taylor Swift was also named after James Taylor. James was the first artist signed to the Beatles Apple Records label. If you dive into his music, you'll have a 50 year discography. He's a legendary singer-songwriter, who wrote his love, his pain, his addiction, his loss. He was married to Carly Simon, but they divorced when his addiction made married life untenable.

The song “Sweet Baby James” was written in 1970 for James’s nephew when he was born ( who is now in his 50s.) He wrote the song while driving from Massachusetts to North Carolina to visit his brother. It’s a cross between a lullaby and a cowboy song. James was thrilled when his brother named his child after Uncle James. So many JT songs to listen to, but you must include “Fire & Rain”, “Carolina in my Mind”, “You Can Close Your Eyes”. Many of his songs are 50 years old or more and still resonate with a second and sometimes third generation listeners. He’s definitely one of the greatest American songwriters and performers. He was also given a Kennedy Center honor for his contributions to American music.

JT is SUCH a legend. I was 15 when Sweet Baby James released and we discovered the voice that we would follow the rest of our lives. And that voice is as compelling as it was back then. Blends so perfectly with Zac's - another new legend. Perfect pairing of voices and the 2 songs. Thanks for sharing.

James Taylor is an icon. He is one of the best singer/songwriters in the world. He was big on the scene in the 70s. He was a folk singer during the hippie movement. You should check out both. Fire and Rain is James’ biggest hit Toes and Chicken Fried are two of Zac Browns biggest hits. He gives of Kenny Chesney/ parrot head vibes in some of his songs

James Taylor is an absolute legend in music. He has written so many incredible hit songs since began around 1969 and has never stopped. He tours constantly and always has. His guitar playing is a method all his own. He has a beautiful voice that is pitch-perfect and travels only with the very best musicians and backing singers. There isn't a musician alive who doesn't revere this national treasure. The song at the very end was part of one of his most beloved songs, "Sweet Baby James". So many of his songs are American standards now.

James Taylor was a prolific songwriter besides being a performing artist. He wrote in an easy listening style... but also wrote some country songs. He wrote one for George Jones (Bartender's Blues) that very few realize he wrote. I don't know if you'd want to react to "Bartender's Blues", but there's a live version of it that he (Taylor) sings with Vince Gill. It is in a jam session type setting. Keep on widening your search for great music. I enjoy your reactions, especially to the old country sounds and artists.

James Taylor {affectionately called JT} is old school and one of the greats of our time.. well at least my generations time. He is one of the best selling musicians of all time. He has some amazing songs. Came to fame in the 1970's anyone alive at that time most likely knew JT and knew several of his songs. "How Sweet It Is", You've Got A Friend", "Shower The People", "Fire And Rain", "Something In The Way She Moves", "Carolina On My Mind" and "Sweet Baby James", just to name a few. His style of music is probably most accurately described as Folk Rock. I would hazard to say that James Taylor has done more duets/collabs then any other single artist.

James Taylor was the first artist to record in 1968 at APPLE RECORDS, the Beatles new production company. 'Colder Weather" always makes me cry! I first heard it done by Home Free and then got the Zac Brown record. James Taylor is a legend. I am a big John Denver fan and James Taylor has that same feel to me.

What made JT great: he wrote great songs, he just opened his mouth and exhaled and that extraordinary sound came out like it was effortless, he was a gifted fingerstyle guitarist.

One of my favorite things about country artists is all the collaborations. I love how they sung Zac's song first & then closed it out with a snippet of one of James' best tunes. You must check out his 'You've got a friend'. I will put it on your list. Zac has some great stuff like this, mellow, yet deep, like 'Highway 20 ride' & then big fun stuff like 'Toes' & 'Chicken fried'. Talented guy & James Taylor is a legend, truly.

I firmly believe that human beings are hard-wired for emotional reaction to vocal harmony. It's universal. When it's right, there is nothing better.

This had to be an incredible moment for Zac Brown who has openly said in interviews that James Taylor was one of his main inspirations while he was growing up and learning to play guitar. I can't even imagine what if would feel like to have one of your heroes on stage singing one of your songs.
