Thanks for posting this reaction, I’ve been looking for it for a while since y’all mentioned it on another video but could never find it on my own, keep up the great work guys. Sending good vibes from Arlington, Tx, hometown of Pantera…:) I actually grew up about a half mile from Dimebag’s house, one my best friends lived across the street from him… he was the nicest, most humble dude you’d ever want to meet.

What is a shame nowadays is that everyone in on their cellphones recording the show, nobody is living the moment, they are just recording the moment to watch it again at their home or to upload it so everyone can see they were there recording it for you not living it

ok, Pantera, while they were big in the 90s, did not draw this crowd. This was one of the first shows right around the fall of communism and one of the first of its kind in Russia. So when they found out that western bands were allowed to have this festival, as you can see, the entire country showed up. The crowd was there for AC/DC and Metallica (truth be told, Tiny Tim could have headlined and a million people still would have showed up). AC/DC and Metallica at the time were on Electra records, and Pantera had just been signed to the label, so they were given the oppotunity to get one of the opening slots. Pantera then put on one of the best metal performances ever.

This was the 2. Rock -Metal Festival in the Soviet Union. The first was Music Peace Festival in 1989, Ozzy, Bon Jovi, Mötley Crüe, Cinderella, Skid Row and Scorpions was the Bands there. But this was the greatest, I think and Pantera was huge in the 90's. Also Sepultura was huge until Max C. left the band, but I digress.

1.5 million psychotic fans. that’s gotta be crazy. as a teenager I went to the US Festival in San Bernardino Ca. in ‘83 there was about 750,000 fans. I thought that was a lot. this is insane.

This is the same venue as Metallica's (Moscow 91). Pantera was big, yes but they couldn't draw even half the crowd they had here, was just cause of Metallica

Pantera is not Rock. It's alternative Metal. I mean you CAN def rock out to it but it's not Rock. The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, etc, that's Rock. In the late 80s and 1990s alternative music became mainstream. Today it's mostly commercial cookie cutter stuff or hip hop that's mainstream and the good bands, especially metal bands are in underground scenes.
