Great pick guys - that instrument is a Moog synthesizer, McCartney used it quite a bit and it's actually his wife (Linda) playing it. The song is about Freedom, that's why he mentions suffragettes, and "Jet" was the name of a black stallion which Paul and Linda owned, as they had many animals and horse back riding was one of their favorite things to do together. Staying with the Freedom context, he says "get on my back and while go for a ride in the sun", meaning his stallion Jet, speaking to the suffragette, bringing her to freedom. Next McCartney song, must do, 1985. Trust me...you'll love it!

@@Fritzw75 That's all I ever did because I'd heard too many stories like my sisters from older people I hung out with. I wanted to be all there for the show. Though I never did anything more than pot anyway having had the opportunity to observe alot of those same people doing harder drugs. It wasn't pretty. I'm Texas born but spent several years of my early youth in Vallejo Ca. That was early 70's. Been home since then and staying. If I hadn't found out I could legally get out of school at 15 with my mothers consent and a job, I was supposed to graduate in 84. I got my GED in 88. But I had a full time job and my own apt by the time I was 17 and bought my first car at 21. So, it worked out in the end.

IIRC, Jet was his dog. This is one of the few rockers from Paul Mc & Wings. Paul liked ballads and kind of weird pieces. "Live and Let Die" is another odd rocker from them. Speaking of which, you should listen to "Uncle Albert / Admiral Halsey." It was a hit, and about as unlikely a hit song as you can imagine.

@@mikekeane2057 McCartney: "We've got a Labrador puppy who is a runt, the runt of a litter. We bought her along a roadside in a little pet shop, out in the country one day. She was a bit of a wild dog, a wild girl who wouldn't stay in. We have a big wall around our house in London, and she wouldn't stay in, she always used to jump the wall. She'd go out on the town for the evening, like Lady and the Tramp. She must have met up with some big black Labrador or something. She came back one day pregnant. She proceeded to walk into the garage and have this litter ... Seven little black puppies, perfect little black Labradors, and she's not black, she's tan. So we worked out it must have been a black Labrador. What we do is if either of the dogs we have has a litter, we try to keep them for the puppy stage, so we get the best bit of them, and then when they get a bit unmanageable we ask people if they want to have a puppy. So Jet was one of the puppies."

The theremin (/ˈθɛrəmɪn/; originally known as the ætherphone/etherphone, thereminophone[2] or termenvox/thereminvox) is an electronic musical instrument controlled without physical contact by the performer (who is known as a thereminist). It is named after its inventor, Leon Theremin, who patented the device in 1928. The instrument's controlling section usually consists of two metal antennas which function not as radio antennas but rather as position sensors. Each antennae forms one half of a capacitor with each of the thereminist's hands as the other half of the capacitor. These antennas capacitively sense the relative position of the hands and control oscillators for frequency with one hand, and amplitude (volume) with the other. The electric signals from the theremin are amplified and sent to a loudspeaker. The sound of the instrument is often associated with eerie situations. The theremin has been used in movie soundtracks such as Miklós Rózsa's Spellbound and The Lost Weekend, Bernard Herrmann's The Day the Earth Stood Still, and Justin Hurwitz's First Man as well as in theme songs for television shows such as the ITV drama Midsomer Murders and the Disney+ series Loki, the latter composed by Natalie Holt. The theremin is also used in concert music (especially avant-garde and 20th- and 21st-century new music) and in popular music genres such as rock.

He performed Jet just like his original recording. I was fortunate to see McCartney in concert twice & he hasn't lost a step. I hear his net worth is approx $1.2 billion. McCartney's concerts are approx 3 hrs long, no breaks/wardrobe changes, & he primarily sings one hit after another. His concerts are packed with pure rock & roll history. the incredible journey reactors are takng rediscovering the Beatles and Post Beatles...Band on the Run was probably McCartney [and Wings] one of his top 2 albums...the other was Tug of War, which came in the early 1980's after Lennon died. Remember the Beatles were 4 strong. contributing together as a unit. When they parted ways, the pressure was immense on all of them to present an album and hits of equal calibur and that was DAMN hard to do, in an environment of higher immense creativity and quality that they themselves had helped to create [basic leading the way until others caught up to them]. McCartney had trial and error up to about this point when 2 Wings band members left the band at the last minute before recording this album. So basically Paul did most of the instruments, uncluding drums...yes, drums!! Denny Laine, guitar and vocals, helped out, and wife Linda McCarntey playing some keyobard work and doint backing vocals...with a couple of African musician asked to play on a few numbers. Paul bescially said screw those guys who left I;ll do the whole farkin albyum myself with Linda and Denny, and he worlked his butt off and came up with this now iconic album. Even John Lennon liked the album and said so.

All the Beatles were so cool. Paul and Jon crazy creative. What I heard was they broke up because Paul never wanted to take a break and out wrote them in numbers of songs. Paul was driven. By the time Wings happened I'm sure he had a reservoir of songs that were meant for the Beatles and became Wings songs lol.

Saw Paul McCartney and Wings back in 1976 at The Cow Palace. Was general admission so got there real early. The talk going on in line was Will this concert turn into a Beatles reunion? Well, no, obviously. But incredible show anyway. ✌

Damn the album the Jets off of called Band on the Run that have several decent songs on it but if you want to listen to one of the best songs from that album listen to the song Band on the Run that is one of my favorite songs of all time of Paul McCartney's not Beatles but of Paul McCartney's individual musical career.

I think Michael Jackson later picked up on the woo at the end of this song Jet. Listen to that last vocalization on Jet and tell me if you see it too. And I didn't know this was about his pony? I thought Jet was a way to get away with saying the word Shit on radio. Warm shit to always love me?...and instead of suffragette I thought he was saying suffer again shit. 😂
