This album was on the charts for 736 straight weeks, it debuted at number 95 in 1973 and left the charts in 1988. This record, to my knowledge, has never been broken. So yeah, perhaps the best album of all times, at least in sales.

I met David Gilmour in 1984 back stage at a concert in Hollywood Calif. He gave me a signed album that I have in my music room. We talked for 22 minutes. I called him…“The Master Of The Stratocaster” He smiled. I asked if I could shake both his hands that make such great guitar solos, he smiled bigger and said “Sure” and shook both hands at the same time, making a cross between us, I smiled HUGE. I asked him to describe his technique of playing guitar, he replied… “I strike a note, bend it, shake it and then release it”…. Yes, he does that quite well, better than any other guitarist I know

You’ve probably heard about how well Dark Side of the Moon synchs up with The Wizard of Oz. ‘Money’ begins the moment the film transitions from black & white to color, as Dorothy steps outside, onto the yellow brick road. The opening sound effects of this track fit the scene so well. Especially after following the chaotic tornado scene as ‘The Great Gig in the Sky’ plays. You can find it here on KZfaq if you’re interested. Just a fun, artistic thing to experience.

Growing up Led Zeppelin and Pink Floyd were always neck and neck so I feel your pain lol Some cool trivia - in the music video for 'another brick in the wall" the teacher scolds the child for writing poetry in math class; the poem he read out loud in front of the class were lyrics from this song!

@@jbranum3087 Agreed it is a tough listen. I’ve been playing my own rendition of gunners dream on the piano for a while it’s a fun song to play. I had a cassette of pros and cons that I played until the oxide wore off and it made a terrible screeching sound. I got very close to doing the same thing to the replacement cassette tape. Since it's apparent that so many people are still Blown Away by Pink Floyd in 2022 people are obviously going to continue listening to them! After checking several sites Dark Side of the Moon still sells from eight to ten thousand copies a week worldwide!! And like Mozart and Beethoven people will still be listening to them 200 500 even a thousand years from now if we don't get blown up by an asteroid or something! Please try to remember this, when you listen to the last songs on this album please play brain damage and Eclipse as one song because of the incredible transition from one to the next which you won't even feel!!

On passing through town there was a HUGE queue leading towards the record shop, this was in a town of 50k inhabitants in Scotland, UK. I remember the big prism filling the shop window, but as a 7 year old didn't know what was up. I realised a while later. Without realizing it, at the end of the song you just listened to, that organ or synth, was actually the beginning of the next track on the album. Pink Floyd's most popular albums are concept albums, meant to be listened from first to last track in order uninterrupted. Only by doing this will you appreciate just WHAT the song means to the album as a whole, kind of like a chapter in a book. After the first time, of course, you will know. The concept albums are Dark Side of the Moon 1973, Wish You Were Here 1975, Animals 1977 and The Wall 1979. Oh, and read the lyrics while listening, makes more sense that way. I was born in 1960, and my older brother had me into music good and young, and I grew up listening to ALL those great bands. And in my opinion, Pink Floyd has always been just a notch ahead of the next best bands, in their production, live shows, lyrics, etc. Still feel the same way today. And David GIlmour has ALWAYS been my favourite guitarist. And Comfortably Numb is on The Wall, not Dark Side of the Moon. And if you watch the live version at Pulse, please, please watch the UNCUT version, since the one everybody is watching has over 1 minute of guitar finale CUT OUT. Reason? Gilmour heard a 'dodgy note or two' so edited it out. But in order to get out 1 second of maybe not perfect music, they had to cut 1 minute and 6 seconds of perfectly GOOD and not dodgy notes out as well. I like the UNCUT version, because that is how the people at the concert heard it, and I even think I know which note or two is supposedly 'dodgy', but, for an extra minute of great guitar, who the eff cares?

I appreciate what you both do. I strongly encourage you to listen to this album start to finish in one sitting. For the love of all things Pink Floyd, I urge anyone interested to get a copy of the "Classic Albums" series documentary episode featuring "The Making of the Dark Side of the Moon". There are fragments of it on YT but I urge you to seek it out in it's entirety.DVD or whatever, you will learn so much about the makings of one of the most essential/crucial albums in musical history. I guarantee it! It's phenomenal.

Dark Side of the Moon, should be played from the first song on side 1, thru the last song on side 2, to really get the whole album. The band even said that's the way they made the album to be played, pretty cool.

I don’t know if you noticed but the beginning of this song is the “poem” the teacher made fun of in Another Brick In The Wall.

It's funny how this song sings about caviar and nice cars as weird sorts of compromises, whereas many songs today paint achieving those things as being a positive symbol of success. Waters wrote it thinking of money being, in many ways, too complicated to call 'success.' Essentially it's about the cost of having money.

Brother- I agree 100%, Led Zepp and Pink Floyd are the absolute top of the heap in my book too. I remember when of all their albums came out, and we waited at the record stores for the shipments, to run home and put it on the turntable with speakers full blast. Every song’s a masterpiece. I’d say the only other band to rival them is the Allman Brother’s Band. I listened to this album when I was 18, after dropping pure LSD-25- whew!! a crazy, harrowing experience!

If y’all like Pink Floyd this much, check out something from their album Animals. I recommend the song “Pigs” or “Dogs” to start with… though it’s a concept album so you really oughta do the whole thing in order for full effect. Stay real, y’all. Love.

Good reaction, when you get a chance listen to "Shine your crazy diamond" and "Echoes" Live at Pompeii. Pink Floyd will definitely be your favorite band after listening to those two.

No one ever reacts to Roger Waters solo stuff, he was the main man in Pink Floyd and has some amazing tracks. Perfect Sense and Every Strangers Eyes are fantastic tunes.

This is the best Pink Floyd for anyone who doesn't know Pink Floyd Not the "best" Pink Floyd track but the best intro.... If you don't like this..... 🤔 And yes the change in time from 7/8 to 4/4 when David's solo starts just works brilliantly 😉
