Such a great song! This whole album is great IMO! I got to see this song live back in ‘94! I love this “newer” era of Pink Floyd as much as earlier works of theirs.

The number of times I've started to listened to this song, only to hit the repeat button, cause what a freakin' intro! Whilst High Hopes is the stand out song for the album as a whole, I understand why they made this the single. It's just so approachable and listenable. Frankly I'm surprised it doesn't get more air time on radio.

Man, I'm finally listening to the full album in 1 shot as I type here, and wow what a different journey. Emotions through the roof! Teary or chills most of the time and I'm only on song 4!

Yes and her name is Mother Earth: "Her love rains down on me easy as the breeze, I listen to her breathing, it sounds like the waves on the sea [...], We were spinning into darkness, the earth was on fire [...], And I push her to the limit to see if she will break [...], Now I have seen the warnings, screaming from all sides [...], It's easy to ignore them [...], Until I couldn't see the danger or hear the rising tide [...], She can take it back, she will take it back some day." In short, what the man has taken from her, she will take back one day... inevitably. “Take It Back”, a song, a message. Thanks.

Another late one, just realised you're about 5 hrs behind us. This was nearly 'live'. Big message there and a beautiful track. Don't ever want them to stop but after the perfection of 'Dqrk side' and 'Animals', nothing compares.

I LOVE this song….and I adore PF. But you know what? For the first time today, with that bright jangly guitar sound, I thought”jeez, that sounds just like The Edge! And the chord sequence sounds remarkably like the beginning of Where The Streets Have No Name. And on top of that, I could just hear in my head Bono singing this. Since the U2 song was released in 1987 and this came out in 1994, I wonder if one or more of the three composers of this song were inspired by the U2 sound here. Just a thought. Every artist is somehow influenced by other artists. Edit: HA! I just listened to your comments at the end! Yeah, U2 for sure! I just “heard” a different U2 song from you. 😁. Hmmm, just listened to both U2 songs, and you’re correct. The chord sequence is similar, but Where The Streets Have No Name is more up tempo. Your reference is the right one

As you've long since discovered, there is a Floyd song for every sensibility. This one doesn't suit mine I must admit, but over the years nearly every song in their catalog with rare exception - 'A Spanish Piece' comes to mind - I have heard someone say "this is my favorite", with this one getting quite a bit of love actually. And in a weird tangential way, it makes me love the songs I don't love. That made sense right?

Interestingly, it is the jangly rhythm guitar that jars with me in this song. It is an okay track, but nothing special to my ears.
