I'm so glad that you've decided to give Floyd a proper chance. I remember you saying a couple of years ago that you didn't like them and you weren't interested. Do yourself a solid and listen to the whole album by yourself in one sitting (all the songs link together) and I *guarantee* you will be hooked and want to listen to their other masterpiece albums.

Cool reaction. For me this is one of the best anti war, anti poverty songs ever written. Pink Floyd are masters at exploring the human condition. The first half of the album is about life from first breath to death. The second half is about money, greed, the futility of war, the haves and the have nots, the illusion of choice, and mental illness. This album is time capsule material, even the artwork is legendary. Look forward to you reacting to more.

The wind is only there at the beginning because this verison comes out of a compilation and what you hear is the end of "One of These Days". Same as the end, on the album it blends into the next song, it does not end with the echoeing voices.

Pink Floyd rewards patience. ... I try to refrain from telling reviewers how to review. That's your thing. I do appreciate that you don't skip anything. Floyd fans are passionate but accepting. We critique and criticize, because we want others to experience what we feel. Don't take it as an attack, it's a love for the music. ... Talking over the music, sharing your gut feelings in the moment works for most Floyd fans. We don't like when the mood is lost. That said, I appreciate your taking the time to share a deeper train of thought that would get away from the music if you didn't pause. It's a delicate balance. Reacting to Pink Floyd can be difficult. It's not like other music. ... Enjoyed the reaction and looking forward to more. Yes, the band wrote albums, not songs. That's the way they intended you to hear them. Their songs can be enjoyed independently, but you're reading a random chapter from a book, and all the loss of context that entails.

Hi EB, the album, with this song, was released late in 1973. Most of Pink Floyd's song lyrics can be interpreted in a lot of different ways. This is because their writing is often quite personally driven, meaning that it's written as if you already are a close friend, and that you know what the meaning is because you know the context and events that the writer is talking about. But that doesn't mean that it's meaningless. Somehow, the words paint a picture in your mind, or a movie even. You could call some of their writing "painting with words", but that doesn't mean it's meaningless either. These words, especially accompanied by that amazing music, bring about a stirring in our emotions, and then seem to centre us. One of the best concert performances I've ever seen on video is of Pink Floyd's 'Pulse' concert in 1994 in Earl's Court, London. It was re-mastered in 2019 or thereabouts, the sound is great and the definition of the vision is great. If you want to pick one to 'react' to, you could start with 'Comfortably Numb', from the 'Pulse' concert, it's spectacular and perfect. Just search for 'Pulse' 'Pink Floyd' 'Comfortably Numb - and pick the restored and remastered version.

The spoken words are answers to questions, that were asked to random people around the recording studio, like when were you last in a fight? and were you in the right? It's worth knowing one track in particular "Brain Damage" references Mental Health (something Syd Barrett struggled with, forcing him out of the band 2 years earlier) and Schizophrenia, "there's someone in my head and it's not me" So you get these random voices saying things that vaguely fit but over which you have no control.

I was reading some industry research paper about how radio playlists work for establishing a new artist or song. Apparently, for the average listener they need to hear a new song up to forty times before it even begins to register in their memory, otherwise it is just background noise. This is different for "avid" listeners - people actively listening to radio rather than just having the radio on. This is why radio stations have such repetitive playlists and why, after having some stations playing all day in the workplace, you're sick of hearing the same songs over and over again. So, I can believe that people who have grown up listening to one or two particular genres of music - the Spotify generations - can believe that they haven't heard what the radio generations perceives as omnipresent.

I’m an old jarhead who’s seen Floyd live, in 1981, 88, and 94 and we would have BOUNCED you outta our row in 2-seconds if you’d run your suck non-stop like you do here. I wish you good luck with your channel and you seem like a good dude but bro-ZIP-IT-and listen! I subscribe to dozens of “reactors” but only those who either listen to a song in its entirety and THEN comment, or stop it ONCE, maybe midway-through. Songs, like many things, lose their impact completely when you cackle-play-cackle-play-cackle-cackle-play. It’s like singing The Star-Spangled Banner “Oh say can you see?” (Then going out for a beer, coming back and singing “By the dawn’s early light…”) Now I’ll have some soup. Mmm. That was good. “What so proudly we hail…” Perhaps RETHINK your approach and see if your subscriber numbers don’t suddenly quadruple. Like I said, you are a guy I’d like to follow but until you stop butchering the FLOW-I won’t be back. Semper Fi 🫡

def def def do "side 1“ then "side 2" of Pink Floyd "The Dark Side of the Moon" album. Tracks transition directly into each other and the album is basically a "Bible" for modern life. or, if you want to chill the fxxk out, do the album (not the single) PINK FLOYD "Wish You Were Here" this is all about founding band member Syd Barrett who was dropped from the band suffering severe mental health issues and the effects of drug abuse. It both celebrates and mourns his life in a truly beautiful way.

Most of Pink Floyds lyrics deal with the injustice of how we treat each other, including the socialist politics of the boss ( king, president , grand poobah ) who is superior and assumes the right to tell you who and what you are. In short, the band are anti socialism ( anti bullies ), but probably believe themselves to be socialists, like many good people have been educated to believe.

OK, first off while your analyses are pretty darn good, this is NOT an accurate representation of the track!!! There is NO wind sound at the opening, and no echo at the end. Some asshole mucked with the track in this bastard copy. All the tracks on Dark Side of the Moon flow into the next track seamlessly, like how various movements flow in a real symphony. So whatever source you used here, do not use it again if you want the real McCoy! Next, Dark Side of the Moon is one of the highest selling albums of all time, for a reason - it is pure musical and lyrical genius. It was released in 1973. It also has exceptional engineering, and audiophiles then and to this day use it to test high end systems for their clarity, dynamic range, etc as a result it being so incredibly well engineered. Yes it tells a story, and why it will mean more when you listen to the whole thing from start to finish. When you are done, there is a documentary by the band on the making of as follows: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/oLtyobZmrJmYeYE.html ( PINK FLOYD - The Dark Side Of The Moon 2003 Documentary HD ) In the documentary linked above, Roger explains what the voices are all over the record, starting at time 12:36 and then he comments on Us and Them until time 16:02. (where by the way you can hear the exact transition between Us and Them and the next song - Any Colour You Like) In another section of the documentary, David says the following: "The big move forward on Dark Side of the Moon was Roger's coming of age... lyrically. And having the ideas and the intelligence to take a subject and examine it in all it's parts in all those different songs..." Roger then says: "It has some kind of universal appeal in that it confronts a number of major psychological and emotional concerns"

Well, I'll be reacting to the album, and I'm going to be putting as much of the full reaction as possible here on KZfaq and I'll be using Spotify more than likely as the source. I will say, if you watch any going forward, apologies for so many pauses. I do so for 2 reasons and 2 only. So I can give a genuine thought or reaction to what I'm hearing in real time, as well as to do my best to meet the fair use standards as far as a reaction can be. When I do the full reaction, if I can't put it in it's entirety on KZfaq, I'll wind up putting what I can on here and then later will have the full uncut somewhere that it can be heard for free.

@@EBReacts Well make sure you select a version that does not "cut" between tracks - i.e. select a version that includes the entire album. There is no dead space between tracks, except between sides of the album. And tip, Floyd Fans consider stopping during a David Gilmour guitar solo to be akin to blasphemy... You did stop a bit too often and doing so squashed grasping things by cutting off a particular phrase or motif. May I suggest going a bit longer, trying to stop at the end of a phrase, and back tracking once you share your thoughts. And finally you can split into more than one KZfaq video. Some people have split in two, others split into each track as to their reaction videos. Although you are stopping so often it is unlikely to be blocked for copyright, as a legitimate use is for teaching, criticism, or analysis...

@@EBReacts Good. That guitar solo is one of the greatest of all time. Hint: the best Pulse concert videos are labeled "PULSE Restored and Re Edited". The others are distorted video and poor audio. Oh and Andrew Lloyd Webber stole the theme for Phantom of the Opera from an earlier Pink Floyd song called "Echoes" and they didn't pursue copyright on him, so they are not sticklers like say are the Eagles who block everything.

I’m sorry but you are as bad at reacting to things being new or never heard it before as those you mentioned in the beginning of this reaction. Not for me.
