I think the Playing For Change version was recently recorded but the song was originally released in 1980 and played for so many occasions, like you documented. I was impressed with the artists from so many countries and varied talents. I also requested another Playing For Change production, “Iko Iko” which is a “Nawlins”-based song that includes a Neville brother and Dr. John (RIP) and the Congo Nation in their incredible, hand-made feathered costumes. Thank you! You enlighten me every day with your comments on this channel. I’m so glad you caught up on Biko’s activism and the artists who are Playing For Change. I remember that several artists boycotted playing South Africa (back in the day) as a statement against apartheid. Many think it’s important to use any platform as a vehicle for education and change. I requested another track from Playing for Change, involving The Congo Nation in their amazing hand-made feathered and beaded costumes ... keeping alive a tradition of music from 1700 -1800’s that was really the birth of Jazz in Louisiana.
