Rugged been one of the best, Day one....for all his flaws...the man came back HARD. Hip Hop story telling genius Shout out from LI. My friend Jesse back in the day put together small hip hop shows in Boston and I actually picked up RA The Rugged Man from south station and took him to his hotel and we hung out and I drove him to the venue for the show. He took out a knife and cut a piece of the curtain in the hotel room and wrapped it around his head and used it as a bandanna. I figured he partied but he was straight edge and didn’t even smoke weed with us. Really cool guy though and knows so much about hip hop and is hilarious.

Ok let's go through some cuts to react to.. we got Uncommon Valor with Jedi Mind Tricks, EKNY ft Inspectah Deck, Holla Loo Yuh ft Tech N9ne, The People's Champ, Learn Truth ft Talib Kweli, Posse Cut, Malice of Mamon ft Chuck D and Golden Odies ft Atmosphere...Now there are plenty more but these are some of the ones with Music Videos. He been doing this shit since early 90s when he was signed to Jive but got blackballed from the industry but still put out lots of jewels through the decades.

Hecka yes. I moved into a house to trim greens, and my trimming partner introduced me to this guy. He had seen ODB s last show in Fort Collins CO I believe he said. When that 20s white kid heard him, I was hooked. I've loved every song of his I've heard, he's the truth. His couple podcast episodes were awesome too. R.A. the Rugged Man is one of my all time favorites. I was into Sage Francis, Eyedea, Aesop Rock Etc. RA is a true lyricist to me, changed my life listening to him.

Rugged man deep dive? :D The man has some variety to show. He can be fast, funny, real, gross, a story teller. He can do double time, tripple time, quadruple time. He has some great features, held competitions for up and coming rappers and is a scholar and historian when it comes to hip hop and movies. You can pick any song off of his newest albums and you'll have a banger or you can pick some decades old stuff and see how ahead of his time he was.

R.A. has one of the greatest flows of all time and he's a proper student of the culture. His verse on Uncommon Valor is the greatest feature verse of all time as well imo. Unbelievably good emcee. His interviews with Vlad are brilliant to watch, so much knowledge and I love his takes on Kanye.

He's a beast. Yes, from Long Island when I met the man. He did a show years ago in NYC. My lady friend knew him and I was lucky enough to be able to hang after the show. The line "I'm not just the king of New York I'm the king of the whole game" is in response to Kendrick Lamar's Control verse where he says "I'm the king of New York" hence the reason for the RA Pacman eating the Kendrick face. RA is from New York, currently lives in Berlin so I believe

"I love myself, I'm so vain, I'm not just the king of New York, I'm the king of the whole thing" There's some truth to the curse, but I've always felt like the tone he uses when he starts that is sarcastic. Like he's actually pointing out that so many people have said it at that point. He's mad funny, and his music is undeniably underrated. He's been around forever, and if you check out some of his interviews, you'll understand just how far back his influence, and inspiration goes. Definitely a legend.
