Queen performed this song on their 1986 Magic Tour and by that time Freddie knew he had HIV. It makes me very sad when I hear this beautiful song, especially when he says they will stay together until they f...ing well die. It would barely be another five years and he was gone. Uh, no. He may have suspected it, but diagnosis wasn’t until 1987 … and the actual revelation of that fact to his band mates wasn’t revealed until shortly before his death. (Not that it made a difference at that point)

I did some research & it appears that Freddie suspected “something” as early as 1982. It was speculated that he was infected that year while frequenting the NYC gay clubs! Freddie had flu-like symptoms (symptom of infection) during Queen’s stint on Saturday Night Live but told people he had blown his voice out arguing with his boyfriend. Freddie also secretly went to a doctor to check out a white lesion he had on his tongue (symptom of HIV infection). I think that’s why Freddie became The Great Pretender not only to protect those around him but hoped he’d be around long enough for the proper treatment!

@@debramoore7513 Thank you so much for your comments! It’s everything I meant when I said “he knew”. In an interview Roger Taylor even said they suspected Freddie had something wrong by the end of the Magic Tour because he wasn’t quite himself and was very tired after their concerts. I appreciate what you added to this thread.

Brian May wrote this song after seeing the daylies from the production of the movie Highlander. The hero is immortal and loses the one true love of his life as she grows old and dies while he goes on without aging.....

I always try not to cry when I watch this performance but I haven't been able to do it!!! Brian's guitar is crying and Roger's drums piercing my soul on top of Freddie and Roger's vocals, they were such a superb band!!!!😭💔❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

Freddie didn't drink beer on stage, he said it would be too rude to risk burping in the mic. He drank tea with honey to help sooth his throat, he was diagnosed with painful nodules on his vocal cords in 1975.

This song is heartbreaking both in the context of Freddie's life, and in the context of the movie it was written for. I know others have said it below, but seriously, watch the original Highlander movie. It's cheesy 80's action at its finest, probably one of my favorite movies of all time.

Freddie is drinking honey tea. This amazing song is a part of the Highlander movie soundtrack, one you need to watch and see the outstanding soundtrack Queen made for it. I mean, they gave life to it. For real! Amazing song written by Brian May and superbly sang by Freddie. The man knew how to make those lyrics and emotions his own. And the vocal power, damn!!! Just one of the trillion reasons to love Queen 👑 and Freddie (aka The King 👑 of Queen)

I was at school when this live aid concert happened I remember watching it on tv and buying the Christmas single song to help live aid. It was the first benefit I remember they didn't really do it back then. Freddie was a great live singer and showman . He will live on in his music as will many of our other great artists we lost too early.

Brian May wrote this song for the Highlander movie soundtrack!! 🍿🍿The movie is definitely one to watch starring Sean Connery, Christopher Lambert, & Clancy Brown (Shawshank Redemption). Each member of Queen decided to write a song for the movie: Brian also wrote GIMME THE PRIZE, Freddie PRINCES OF THE UNIVERSE, Roger A KIND OF MAGIC & DON’T LOSE YOUR HEAD, John ONE YEAR OF LOVE. The reason Freddie addressed the rumor of the band splitting up is because the British press was trying to push that story. Freddie did some solo stuff, Brian did some solo stuff so the British press were trying to say that the band was breaking up. Queen always had an adversarial relationship with the press.

I love watching you watch queen and Freddie Mercury. I wasn’t old enough to know him in his heyday but fell in love with him after watching the movie Bohemian Rhapsody in 2018. Ever since then I have been falling down the same rabbit hole. I can see you have a real appreciation for this band and their talent. I suggest you watch the entire Wembley 86 concert and do a review. Pretty please. I know you will love it. You can break it up in multiple parts like others have.😊 Continue enjoying your queen journey

I wish Freddie had lived forever and that he was still with Queen imagine the music we’d still be hearing from the fabulous 4. I was very young when Freddie passed on but I’ll never forget my mom collapsing to the floor I was born in 83’ and we lived on Queen. Freddie Mercury is a legend he will NEVER die and now at the age of 39 I’m just as love with Freddie Mercury as I was as a child ♥️

If you like old moviesthis is the soundtrack for the movie "Highlander" 1986 with Sean Connery. All the video you can find from this same concert are good, all great songs. Two songs that make always very emotional are "The show must go on" and "these are the days of our lives", both from Innuendo, at it was just when we was dieing.

This song is so beautiful but also so haunting when you know Freddie wrote it knowing his time is coming... Also many dont know this but it was used a soundtrack in "Highlander" movie which is a fantasy movie about immortals :)

It's sad, but beautiful, try Only the Good Die Young the official video. Brian May wrote it a few years after Freddy died. It's the most beautiful tribute. John Deacon (Bass) doesn't sing and isn't on camera much, but he showed up for the tribute. He pretty much retired after Freddy died.

I enjoy this performance, one of their best; however, I love the album version / official video since Brian May does the intro verse and he has the voice of an angel. First heard this in the movie Highlander, where immortal Connor McCleod spends a lifetime with his mortal wife. This was written and composed by Brian May.

Hey mate just subscribed from across the pond UK! You still loving Queen?!? I would love for you to listen to (if you havent already done so) these are the days of our lives. Freddie requested the video to be done in black and white as it was one of his last songs due to aids taking over him. With this song really listen to the lyrics it has so much meaningness to it and relatable to everyone who misses their childhood! Great channel by the way
