You saw the candle at the beginning with Screamin' Jay Hawkins face on it, and Angelina making changes to the production. The producer looking over it and smiling. He said later that she was very polite and referred to the changes as "her wishes". The band affectionately referred to her as 'The Boss', because even at 9 years old, she knew exactly what she wanted. She worked with this band several times, but like you, I have to wonder what it was like the first time. Musician goes home from his day, and wife asks "How was your day"? To which he replies, "You would never believe it..." 😁

The only thing I have not heard her sing is RAP and opera, otherwise she has sung pop, jazz, disco, country and even EDM. Why Angelina sings barefoot is just to google. It's a special story. They take it easy in marketing, when she goes to school, and the family wants as normal an upbringing as possible. Hun fa ca. 150 covers at YT, which has approx. 600/700 million views of her videos. When she was 9 years old, she published a book, and became Norway's youngest published author. She did not sign for AGT, and owns the rights to her performers herself. Absolutely the best performance by any child ever on any song! - Period. Actually, I seriously doubt if any adult can match it. No adult can generate the raw emotion of a 9 year old who has lived for decades! She came from the planet "Talent" where everyone has some kind of super ability. She lived on the same street as Dimash and around the corner from Tiger Woods. She came in a rocket wrapped in a blanket which her family made into the outfit she wore on AGT, with the leftovers making the mask in the "The Show Must Go On" video.

Great reaction lumpy. After listening to angelina a couple dozen times, you realize we are dealing with much more than a Mear prodigy here, she is a musical genius. Angelina has done nearly 200 performances. and I have heard them all. I have listened to several interviews where she has done impromptu singing upon request and I have verified the fact that she has perfect pitch, even at 7 years old singing I'm a fool to want you acapella. She is totally unique. Here her voice cries out begging us to understand how she feels and what she is going through. She sings to our souls!!

The musicians' instruments are all probably older than Angelina. And I wonder how many rehearsals it took before those musicians stopped dropping their jaws, their instruments, etc? In MAN'S WORLD, she rocks the orchestra's conductor like a heavyweight's uppercut, and he staggers back, shakes his head and steps back up. But isn't this what we all do? "Being blown away" or "rocked" or whatever... "It all just fits," as you say. Yes.

What the studio musicians are thinking is a fascinating question, not only when they first hear Angelina sing but whether anybody warned them beforehand. Without forewarning, it would challenge anybody's professionalism to stay on task if you first heard her 9yo self let loose during the first take. You'd definitely have to step up your game. She is far too humble to say it but one almost believes her confidence and demeanor says to them "Ok, boys. Let's make some music history!" or "Let's ruin this song for everybody else!" In this case, they did both!

By this time Angelina is already a superstar in Norway. These players are her band, and they are GREAT. I guarantee when it comes to the music they do not treat her like a little kid. She is as professional a vocalist as they will ever play for. It was fun to watch this with you, although I've watched the video probably 100 times.

Obviously, many have heard this a number of times. As you note, she was on target even back then. As amazing as her performance was, she also was in control of the process. She was learning to be the boss of the studio, and in the many opportunities you will have to see her in settings such as rehearsals, she has learned to apply those skills in a respectful yet confident manner. The older she has gotten, the more musicians have learned to feel comfortable with her directions. Thanks again.

As you said, she was only 9 years old when she performed this song. It is her tribute to Screamin' Jay Hawkins, an American singer/songwriter. He wrote and performed it in 1956 and Angelina based her performance on the original, although she did make some subtle alterations to both lyrics and melody. As you continue your journey of discovering Angelina, you will come to realise that she does her own arrangements of most of the cover songs she sings. The differences may not be immediately discernible on first listening to them, but they are there. There may be a subtle change in tempo or tone, or more inflexion on some words, or a phrase may differ in pitch from the original. The amount of control that Angelina has over her voice cannot be measured. She never hurries a song. She sings in such a way that the emotions in the lyrics are felt by the listener. Lastly, did you notice how the "performing" Angelina, singing at a level of maturity far beyond her years, suddenly became a 9-year-old child almost instantaneously once she finished singing. From the time I first heard Angelina, way back at her first audition on Norway's Got Talent, she has amazed me.

Great reaction to a true force of nature. Angelina surely surprised and amazed seasoned professionals. I've often said that an interview with band would be wonderful to see their recollections.

To put this performance in perspective you should check out the original Screaming Jay Hawkins version and how she channeled him. She took his version and made it a lot better. This is my favorite rendition of this song by anyone and it's been covered many times by some great singers and bands. I'm with you,, that sax solo is a thing of beauty. "CRY ME A RIVER.Proysenfestivalen 21.07.2017" at 11 years old is another unbelievable performance of a great jazz standard that is performed brilliantly by the one and only Angelina Jordan.

I always had the same thought.... Creative perfection, ( from a barefoot 9 year old girl ). is the most fitting description I can think of and this whole thing was Angelina's arrangement . To formulate this and perform it at such a level of professionalism is one for the history of music books.

That's not a Shrieker a squeal that Angelita did it's called a whistle note it's the only time she ever used it Mariah Carey is famous for using whistle notes as far as the band they were probably hired by Angeline his mother to do this session and they would be very familiar with her abilities because she had already won Norway's Got Talent at 7 and 8 years old so she was no surprise to them in fact they called her the boss

A true musical prodigy is a once in a lifetime event, and that's if you have a long lifetime. We are so fortunate to have access to Angelina's performances.

I have listened over and over most all of her covers because of her professionalism and qualities that she shares with all of us. Re how musicians must react, one of my favorite AJ videos is a live performance where at the end of the song one of the musicians stops and takes a photo of all of them taking a bow with AJ. You don't see that every day.
