Richard Marx has replied to me a few times on Twitter ‼️ He's hilarious, makes fun of his own music ‼️ One time I was in Jamestown ND, walked into a liquor store, they were playing this exact song!! Tweeted him about it and he said,"So there's a liquor store in an elevator?"😆 He's also wished me Happy Birthday, and when I was sick he sent me "Get well soon!" Totally down to earth! So glad y'all did this one ‼️ Much ❤️ from Seattle ‼️

Richard Marx has a voice that just makes you close your eyes. Yes, it was Beautiful Goodbye. This is off his first album. This is the first Marx that you've done that I didn't put in for. This whole album was so good. He was soft rock. Yes BJ that was him. EDIT 8 HOURS LATER: How many times can one woman say "This"?? 🤣

This is basically Richard Marx with the Eagles. Joe Walsh on guitar, Randy Meisner and Timothy Schmit on backup vocals... 3 Eagles. Great song, legendary musicians

Few debut albums have the star power of this one, but Richard Marx was a well established backup singer and songwriter long before this album, and he had a lot of connections in the business.

Watched a show some years ago with Joe Walsh talking about his life and work. The interviewer asked Joe about working on this track with Richard Marx. Joe - who recorded this back in the day when he was drinking and maybe using substances - replied "Well, it sounds like me. But I don't remember it!" Always a smile from Joe.

This was from his first album. Great song writer and lyricist. Got his start writing commercial jingles. So many songs of his are worthy....Hazard, Endless Summer Nights, Right Here Waiting, Should've Known Better, Angelia... And the list goes on and on.

Right Here Waiting was the slow song. Yes, he was definitely considered pop in the 80's, what we called Top 40 back then, pop was a pretty general category people were thrown into when they weren't metal or R&B. Huey Lewis and the News were also considered pop back then.

I know this song from the radio and saw the music video a number of times. Richard is talented and was popular singing for a few years, he made his money by writing for other solo artists and bands. Great singer/songwriter. "Endless Summer Nights" "Angelia" "Hazard" "Should've Known Better" "Now And Forever" "Hold Onto The Night" are other hits from him.

Joe Walsh from the Eagles played guitar on this one. He then forgot he did it, and wondered who was playing his licks when he heard it on the radio.

From Wiki: According to Marx's personal commentary about the song's origin, his manager at the time asked Joe Walsh to play slide guitar on the song and he agreed. As a fan of the Eagles, Marx felt that musically the song could have belonged on the album The Long Run. Two other Eagles members, Randy Meisner and Timothy B. Schmit, sang background vocals on the song. Marx reportedly wrote the lyrics himself and co-wrote the music for this song with Bruce Gaitsch at his first apartment on Lowry Road in the Los Feliz district of Los Angeles, where Marx resided during the early 1980s.

Richard is underrated legendary. I was just a kid when he was hot but I still dug the songs that got played and even I forget about him when I think about the classics. He won though.. He married Daisy Fuentes.

I thought of him as Soft Rock. His tempo was similar to Bryan Adams, John Mellencamp, and Rod Stewart and Chicago. I think on the radio today they list them as Adult Contemporary.

Not a fan of this guy at all (not a hater either) but the Mrs. dragged me to a casino show last year, and damn if he didn't impress. Trio backing him up, no pre-recorded bits, all live, and he hit all the notes, totally committed. So shout out to R. Marx.

Regardless if you like Richard Marx or not, his voice is fantastic and his wife is one of the best dancers of all time Cynthia Rhodes who famously played Penny in Dirty Dancing. This song is so much better with the video! Explains what this song is about. He’s more of a pop/rock singer and his ballads were massive hits for him! His song Hazard is still one of my favorites of all time and of course his well known Hold on.

He did a lot of ballads, but this isn't one of them. The songs you did before were from the same album as this song. The entire album was a gem. He was a studio musician before he tried making an album of his own. He played for and knew a million people in the industry. HIs wife was in this video, a very small part, but the video you're describing was Whitesnake.

This is one of his least best songs...a great artist, you would be blessed if you were to actually look through his discography. Being a father, "Angel's Lullaby" is first. Being a husband and lover...you'll figure it out. ;-) There will be a gathering of tears from this, which would fill every moment...his songs will make you cry. All the best.
