“Sexually charged” captures most of Rod Stewart’s work through the 1970s. “Hot Legs” is another great song from this period that is worth the listen. "The Killing of Georgie (Part I and II)" is one of his 1976 songs which opened up a first-of-its-kind discussion and shows a different side of him. More recently, like Queen Latifa he has released some work in The Standards genre. With his voice, his recent work definitely puts you into the baby making mode. 😊

My fondest memory of this song and video was when my college school chums and I were on spring break in Orlando, Florida in 1978, and we had just walked into this disco when this song came booming out of the huge speakers and everyone in the place got up and squeezed onto the dance floor to dance to Rod’s newest hit song - I had never seen anything like it before or since - it was as ethereal as it got for my friends and I during the days of disco! All of those bodies moving and grooving and sweating to that hypnotic bass beat!

Great as usual guys ... In March '22 Rod Stewart (77) posted videos of himself & 6 others shovelling gravel near his home in Essex, UK saying " I’m repairing the street near where I live because no one can be bothered to do it.” ... Vehicles were getting "bashed" up by the potholes & he couldn't get his Ferrari down the road, the local council were doing nothing about it so he decided to fill them in himself !

When Stewart started out he was one of the best front men in rock. His work with The Faces is outstanding. "(I Know) I'm Losing You" is absolute rock and roll fire. "Stay With Me' is another good one also. Most of us thought he sold out when he went disco, but then we started to go to disco's as that's where the women were, so there's that.

Here's another Stewart song, if interested. "Rod Stewart - The First Cut Is The Deepest (Official Video)" this is a single from their album "A Night on the Town" the thing is this was on the B-side of the single "I Don't Want To Talk About It" which was the A-Side and was also a massive hit in the UK. These songs were definitely considered R&B soul music. Just as Sammantha said Rod Stewart could go beyond one genre of music. The band was able to grow musically and adapt with the times. Really fun reaction guy's you two are cute together, Thanks for the reaction.

Rod Stewart decided he wanted to be a commercial success. He changed the direction of his career with this album. The disco era was in full bloom. The Rolling Stones had a big hit with MISS YOU, and Rod came to join the party. If you want the old raunchy rocking version of Rod Stewart, listen to his first 8 albums. The music he made with the Small Faces and his solo recordings are the best. After that, his more commercial material is prevalent. Occasionally, Rod would break into his former self, but for the most part, he would never be the same. Here are songs from before this album. BORN LOOSE, STAY WITH ME, HOT LEGS, EVERY PICTURE TELLS A STORY, TONIGHTS THE NIGHT. His later success came on these songs. INFATUATION, PEOPLE GET READY, CRAZY ABOUT HER. A quick note. You keep saying you didn't the difference from one song to the next by these artists. That is the whole point of the channel isn't it? The artists from way back in the 2oth century made their living creating new sounds, rhythm, and challenging expectations. That's why they go back so far. That's what help to extend their careers. Otherwise, you might as well listen to rap and hip-hop. Over and over and over.

You should take a listen to Carpenters. They were a brother and sister (the Righteous Brothers were not really brothers they were Bill Medley and Bobby Hatfield both fantastic singers) The first time I saw the Carpenters (1966 or 67) Karen was around 16 and Richard 20 or so. They were playing at the Whisky-A-GO-GO in Los Angeles. The next time their band had broken up and Richard had formed a 3-piece jazz band he on keyboards or piano and Karen on the drums with Jacobs on bass. She was an accomplished jazz drummer with a 3-octave contralto voice the angels were jealous of and Richard had numerous roles in Carpenters, including record producer, arranger, pianist, keyboardist, and songwriter, as well as joining with Karen on harmony vocals. Herp Alpert heard one of their demo tapes and signed them with A&M records in 1969 and let them do their own thing. Their first album did not do to well but the second (1970) went to #1 with several of the singles going to 1 or 2 and everything after was pure gold. Their career ended in 1983 when Karen died at 32 of complications from anorexia. Would recommend “Rainy Days and Mondays” or “(groupies) Superstar” or “Goodbye to Love” it was the first power ballad with Toni Peluso on the fuzzy guitar or “Ticket to Ride” a Beatles cover which Lennon when ask about it said how can you complain when an angel takes one of you song and makes it hers?

This song is representative of why the "Disco Sucks" movement happened in the late 70's. Everybody and their mother had a Disco song to break onto the charts (i.e. Kiss, Rod Stewart, Queen, etc.) Even Broadway star Ethyl Merman had a Disco album. The characters on Sesame Street put out a Disco album. It was everywhere and owned top 40 radio. I was so burned out on it. It took some years before I could go back and enjoy bands like KC and the Sunshine Band, ABBA, Bee Gees and this one from Rod. Just proof that anything that is played too much becomes a beating.
