Anything any good in the UK in the 70s sounded like Ziggy-era Bowie. The Pistols paid him the compliment of running off with a pile of his gear - the scamps! Asked if they took "anything that was notable, from any bigger band at the time,” drummer Paul Cook replied: "Oh, yeah, for sure. There's a famous story about when David Bowie was doing his final shows of the 'Ziggy Stardust' tour. Between shows they'd leave all the equipment standing overnight. It was a big mistake, especially with us around. It was so easy to get in those places and we'd just go around the back. We lived in Hammersmith and so many bands played in Hammersmith Odeon. So we got a full range of equipment before we could even play really. Including the PA."

They only existed for two years from 1976 to 1978 and released one album but are one of the most influential bands that ever existed.

The Sex Pistols were around from 1975-1978 I believe. They were one of the first punk bands and were responsible for launching the punk movement in the UK. Probably one of the most influential bands in history. They inspired many groups to form practically overnight including Joy Division, The Clash, Buzzcocks, etc. Their music echoed the disillusionment and anger of the British youth in their government at that time. They also stood as inspiration that anyone can pick up an instrument and start a band. They just kind of self-destructed and broke up in 1978 while on tour in America. The lead singer (Johnny Rotten) formed another band (PIL) and the bassist (Sid Vicious) eventually murdered his girlfriend and OD'd on heroin. PIL (Public Image Limited) is worth checking out as well.

My favourite album of theirs is "Never Mind The Bollocks" (from 1977). It's also their only album. It's still ace, though, and worthy of all the respect it still gets.

They existed from 75-78, only released 1 album, and the next 3 songs you should do EMI, No feelings and Pretty Vacant.

I find it impossible to grasp that you're aware of 70s Bowie but know nothing of the Pistols. They were the most notorious band in the world at one point and started the whole UK punk movement.
