This event was in 2015, when she was 37 years old. So Hyang is a 45 year old devout Christian and gospel singer from South Korea. In her early 20's and newly married, she was diagnosed with early stage uterine cancer, which left her unable to have children. Upon receiving a healing from God, So Hyang's goal has been to use her voice to bring comfort to people who are experiencing difficult times. She is not motivated by either money or fame. She has rejected numerous offers from major record labels. She does not own any social media platforms and she is happy others share her music on KZfaq, Vimeo, etc. In addition to being a published author of several fiction books, So Hyang lectures about song and vocal technique at a South Korean university. We all wonder if Sohyang is human or from another planet. Current odds are that she’s from another planet, with an outside chance she’s actually an angel come down from Heaven. 😇 We have never heard anyone sing like her, or be able to hold an audience in the palm of her hand until she lets them go. Her voice is, as one person described it, like liquid gold. Perfection in clarity and pitch, and she doesn’t fade in the upper octaves, which is startling when you hear her hit those 5th and 6th octave notes with such _POWER_ it actually gives everyone goose bumps-and makes us bald guys’ hair stand on end! As she says, her voice “is from God.” She does all the musical arrangements herself, with the input of her in-law family and musical assistants, teaches vocal technique at a South Korean university and speaks five languages: Korean, English, French, Vietnamese and Chinese, as well as reading Greek! Let me catch my breath. OK. She is a cancer survivor from uterine cancer at the age of 20, just after getting married, and states very plainly that God saved her life due to the prayers of her church. But this left her without the ability to have children so she decided to dedicate her life to being a Contemporary Christian Gospel singer and has refused recording contracts from the biggest corporations in the world. She only wants to sing for charities, churches and while doing missionary work, to strengthen those suffering through difficult times. David Foster, Josh Groban, Michael Bolton and others have all eagerly worked with her when they were in Asia. She contracted hepatitis B from a blood transfusion during her cancer surgery and it clings to her to this day. She is simply the best of the best, an otherworldly singer. So Hyang (pronounced closer to So Young) is truly a vocal monster with MANY of the greatest live performances in the history of music. Her version of 'I Have Nothing' from the DMC Festival, her in a dark blue dress, would have Whitney in awe. So Hyang sings in English and Korean, both with such advanced technique it boggles the mind. Any genre seems to be her domain. She has forgone a life of seeking fame for a life of comforting people with her voice. She has turned down large recording offers due to her faith. She is a Amazing Artist , especially live, with God given Gift, Perfect Pitch, Lungs of steel and Thousands of hours training her voice! Top it of with perfect and seamless transition because she has the Best Mixed voice I have ever heard . Yet her Character, heart and Honesty are even more Admirable! At times she says in her life their was nothing she wanted more then to be a Big Star in America/the West, but she was asked by the three Biggest, World Wide Companies and when they came asking she Politely said no ( to several Asian/ Eastern Companies as well! Boils down to God told her she was ready and it would ruin her and her life and Loves, also She needed time for her Gospel Ministry ( to lift the Spirits of those that suffer- a Promise she made when at 20, newly Wed, God saved her from Cancer) and Health ( there was a time only 3 or 4 years ago she has serious lung problems, Pneumonia at least 8 times in less then three years because of a weakened immune system after contracting Hepatitis from bad blood received possible during her cancer surgery ! He arranged and produced it for Whitney for her album, and her performance in "The Bodyguard". Foster has won 16 Grammy Awards, including 3 for Producer of the Year, and has been nominated a total of 47 times.
