FIRST TIME HEARING The Cowsills -The Rain, the Park, and Other Things” REACTION with The Cowsills. Hi everyone! We were fortunate to catch up with one of the mostsuccessful family bands of all time, The Cowsills. We were honored Paul, Susan, and Bob Cowsill joined us from their tour bus before their soundcheck. They certainly brought the positive energy to RSATC and here now is our reaction to their groovy #2 Hit from 1967’s Summer of Love, “The Rain, The Park and Other Things”.
The Cowsills are a part of the 2024 Happy Together Tour all summer long

This was incredible. I was 11 yo. I had a GE phonograph that played 16/33/45 rpm with a plastic tone arm. A Single One 1/2" speaker. I had this 45, "The Rain, The Park, and Other Things". I played it hundreds of times, such innocence, loveliness. This brought a tear to me, on my 68th birthday month.

Thank you this brought back one my favorite memories from the 70's when I was working in a recording studio. Billy Cowsill had his own solo career going and was at the studio recording a new album. It was time to backing vocals on Billy's album and he said his brothers would be coming in the next night to sing for him. The next night Billy shows up early and we ask him how many mic's do you want for doing the background vocals because most the multiple mic's were used. Billy said one mic is all we need we were surprised, he said we've been singing together a long time and we know how to sing together. So the brother shows up and we start recording and it was the most amazing sound, watching them work that one mic to balance themselves with each other and move in and out to create dynamics. What a incredible night hearing and watching the Cowsill brothers record vocals.

Great review and interview! Loved your reactions. The Cowsills were amazing in the 1960s, and even more so today. They still sing those songs in the same key, and their vocals are even better as adults. Their current lineup includes Bob’s son on keyboards, Paul’s son on guitar, and Susan’s husband Russ on drums. Their bassist Mary is a very close friend, more like a sister. So even though two of the brothers (Billy & Barry) have sadly passed, they are still a family band! I saw them last fall in Las Vegas, and was blown away. They do meet and greets after their shows (not on the HHT), and are just as nice as they seem. Love and happiness.

The Cowsills rocked my world. I was tuned into their music as a 7-year old (1967) and haven’t left. The 60s was an era like no other and much of the music spawned within is timeless. ‘The Rain, the Park and Other Things’ is one of those. Imaginary or real, its story immediately creates a visual, and one that i continue to see today. The harmonies are also incomparable. It’s a song that immediately brings back memories of my youth. Finally got to meet Bob, Paul and Susan at their show in Vegas in 2023 and it definitely completed a circle for me. They are part of my life’s DNA.

Kathie says…This song for Me, back in 1967, brought me happiness during a very sad, hard time in my life (moving to a new school my junior year, after growing up in my old school since kindergarten.) because of this song, I started painting tiny flowers on the right side of my face next to my eye. (with my blue and purple liquid eyeliner). I started a trend with girls wanting me to paint flowers by their eyes during lunch hour. I made some new friends and although this was still a very sad time in my life, This song helped me smile through my tears. I am so happy that you covered this Beautiful Song by The COWSILLS!! 😘🌸👩🏻‍🦳

One of the best pop songs of the hippie era, it still gives me chills at 69, the were amazing with their family harmonies, amongst the best ever. They made me cry again today.

@@palermotrapani9067 - Revolver TV was just the KZfaq channel who posted a video which had already been in circulation for many years. They plastered their name on the video as if they owned it.

@@shyman99 That is interesting, I was like 4 years old when that song came out and quite frankly do not remember which show aired it back then. So that seems like they could be violating a copyright

@@palermotrapani9067 - The video was from a show called "The Wonderful World of Pizzazz" which aired in March of 1969. Copies of the clip & one other performance by the group got out (probably from a 16mm tape someone had in their possession from way back then). I don't believe it ever aired again in the United States. I'm guessing whoever started that Revolver TV channel on YT was probably taken off years ago for copyright issues because they had a lot of retro videos posted. Most Cowsills fans have that video without the Revolver TV logo at the bottom. But usually not as good of quality due to being VHS copies that degrade with each copy.

They are one class and talented group. They have maintained the high level of talent and through the pain of a dysfunctional family continued. with so much loss.

Been hoping for a Cowsills reaction for a long time. Back then all of the many popular bands and hits were all unique and the Cowsills were unique, They had their own sweet sound like nobody else, Having the Cowsills on your show is really, really awesome! I really dig their newer song called 'Nuclear Winter'' check it out. that song has a 1970.s flavor all over again.

My 5yo granddaughters favorite song. I was teaching her to dance listening to my Happy Together CD and she made me play this song over and over. She has never called it anything but The Flower Girl song.
