The Police have a reggae vibe throughout their catalogue. There's a reason why they were the biggest band in the world in their time. I saw them twice in the early 80's. A friend of mine and I went and saw them in Portland, OR. We liked them so much we followed them to Seattle to see them again. Still the best concerts I've ever seen

Hey J! Just saw you react to the leads voice in 5 seconds flat. That's the very famous Sting!!! Not sure if you recognized him. He has one of the best solo careers ever after The Police split up. I love when you catch greatness the moment you hear it. Well done. Every single "Police" song is a banger. Respect to the drummer Stewart Copeland as well. He's killer.

Great song. I saw them live three times. They were as good in concert as they were on their recordings. That’s the mark of a great band. Sting got a little full of himself as the years went on and I get older and stopped listening. I’m 60 now and am so enjoying your reactions to the music I grew up on.

@@robinchesterfield42 And people still think it's a love song. Rather like James Blunt's You're Beautiful, often played at weddings, when in fact it was about him seeing his ex with another man on the subway while he's high, and obsessing over her. As he says, he probably should have been locked up. :)

Sting def no joke. Jayvon he's great and there's so much more depth to him.. He wrote a song called *Fragile* He invited Stevie Wonder to perform it on stage with him.. O.M.G Stevie's voice and harmonica, and Sting's lyrics will floor you! Sting stood there watching Stevie do it and just looked on in admiration and awe. 😣😍😍

When this song came out, a lot of groups had 6 or 8 musicians and 3or 4 Back up singers. The police come out with three guys, I guitar player, a bass player, and a drummer and got real creative and unique. Rock ‘n’ roll can be basic or it can be complex.. Can’t get much more basic than this, and you can’t get much better.

The Police were one of the greatest of the New Wave bands of the 1970s and '80s. Sadly, your chance to see them live is long past as they broke up in the mid '80s when they were still at the peak of their popularity. Other songs to listen to are "Every Breath You Take", "Synchronicity II", "Don't Stand So Close to Me", "Every Little Thing She Does is Magic", "Wrapped Around Your Finger", "King of Pain", "De Do Do Do, De Da Da Da", and "Spirits in the Material World". Of these, "Every Breath You Take" is a timeless song and remains a fixture in popular culture. You may have heard snippets of that one without knowing who sings it, so it could be a real "ah ha!" moment when you hear it.

One of the funny stories Stewart Copeland (drummer) when questioned about the fights the band had before they broke up went something like this (totally paraphrased from memory): question: why weren't there physical fights? answer: He was a footballer and he used to run like 20 miles a day. It is really hard to choke someone when you need at least one hand to try to hold on to him...

"Telephone Line," "Strange Magic," "It's A Living Thing," "Can't Get it Out of My Head," "Mr. Blue Sky," "Evil Woman," "Turn to Stone," "Sweet Talkin' Woman" and "Roll Over Beethoven." Tons of radio play in the 70s, maybe early 80s. Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers: "Refugee," "Here Comes My Girl," "American Girl," "You Don't Know How it Feels," "Don't Come Around Here No More," "Breakdown," "Jamming Me," "Into the Great Wide Open," "Learning to Fly," "You Got Lucky," "You Wreck Me," "Yer So Bad," "The Waiting," "Stop Draggin' My Heart Around" (duet with Stevie Nicks), "I Won't Back Down," "Roll Another Joint," "Listen to Her Heart," "Don't Do Me Like That," "Runnin' Down a Dream," and "Mary Jane." and Triumph: Canadian Band around same time as Rush but different in a good way, though I have loved Rush since I was in 5th grade! "Lay it On the Line," "Fight the Good Fight," "Magic Power," and "Hold On" (least favorite). Styx "Renegade" is great! Boston: "We're In a Rock & Roll Band," "Long Time " "Amanda," "Don't Look Back," "Smokin'," & "Hitch a Ride." Steve Miller Band: "The Joker," "Jet Airliner," "Fly Like an Eagle," "Rock'n Me," "Jumgle Love," "Take the Money and Run," "Livin' In the U.S.A." Johnny Cougar aka John Cougar Mellencamp aka John Mellencamp: "Hurt So Good," "Pink Houses," "Jack and Diane," "Cherry Bomb," "Check It Out," "Authority Song," "I Need a Lover," "Ain't Even Done With the Niight," "Crumblin' Down," "Wild Night," "Lonely Old Night," "Hand to Hold Onto," "R.O.C.K. In The U.S.A.," and "Rain on the Scarecrow." So many, sorry! I'll send links if any of these interest you. They were all huge but only Tom Petty and Steve Miller Band seem to get radio play these day here in central FL (Boston & John Mellencamp, too, a litle). Suggestions! Have a good evening!

@@janbarriault4494 And Cheap Trick, INXS and Loverboy! So many great bands and solo acts from the, well, 30s to early 2000s, then they started the crappier music and movie reboots. My youth was thankfully full of Heart, Led Zep, Pink Floyd (Another Brick in the Wall was played on our 5th grade bus! "We don't need no education." I"m surprised it hasn't been banned. And I al so remember listening to Motley Crue, "Smokin' in the Boy's Room" on the 9th grade bus. And we were comparatively well-behaved, all of us, except the class clowns. Not like today. I love grunge but Journey is my all-time favorite and "Botn to Run" is probably my favorite song, up there. I wish some of the surviving artists weren't so hateful to their old fans; actors, directors, et al, and comic book writers, too. I am glad I am old and grew up in the 70s and 80s and spent the 90s in my 20s! NIN, Beastie Boys, Rage, The Cult, Soundgarden, Alice in Chains, STP, Nirvana, Skid Row, Slaughter, Poison, G&R, Pearl Jam; country music was better, too, I think. Have a good one!

Sting was the tenor singer on Money for nothing for Dire Straits. You've just scratched the surface on The Police.
