He has such a great voice and I wished that he would have stayed with the group! Things ended not going well for him after he left the group. He also died young and tragically! He had such a unique and great voice!! RIP my brother!

This is the first black folks Mothers Day anthem. This song is about mothers and almost all old school folks can relate to this song. Sadie has many names. This song is hard for those of us who’s mothers are no longer here.

This song has always reminded me of my mother, who passed in June 2022, her two sisters ( my aunts who passed in 2005 and 2019), my grandmother and all the rest of my aunts, all of whom I loved and respected and they all had a hand in raising us and teaching about life and caring about others, they all put others before themselves and always put God before anyone. And never put money over love and family, like I see most young people do these days. Every word he said about sweet Sadie also was about my mother and all of those ladies..

Hmm!...yes! Soul Train was the highlight of the week, we use to knock out our chores on Saturday morning so we could watch uninterrupted! Although 90% of the artist lip-synced, there were artist/groups that recorded live! Marvin Gaye, Harold Melvin & blue notes (featuring Teddy P.) James Brown, Al Green were a few that come to mind! We had some good T.V. shows back then too.

I’m from Chicago where Don Cornelius’s “Soul Train” originally aired locally in 1970 and was nationally syndicated and relocated to Los Angeles California in 1971. Soul Train was derived from another pioneering Chicago dance show named “The Big Bill Hill Show” which aired originally in 1967 and was hosted by William “Big Bill” Hill. Chicago’s “Soul Train” was a spinoff of the The Big Bill Hill Show. Another great song honoring Mothers was The Intruders “I’ll Always Love My Mama!”

I was worried for a while, Ashley. Finally, you caught on to the meaning and message 10:28 of the song. You admitted to being tired, lateness of the night. Sadie was much like my grandmother who lived with us and sent us to Sunday School while M’Dear was working 3 and three jobs. However, she made sure we had breakfast first. I owe so much of the nurturance I received from my Sadie. We always called her Mama. Good reaction. Thank you. I love this song. It’s a true story for this 77 year old.

Kelly also did a remake of this song. This song resonates with the Baby Boomers generation with African Americans. We had our families and mother was the backbone and made everything alright when things didn’t look good. Today’s mothers will never understand because everything is about money and having the latest and greatest of things. All we needed as kids is love, good cooking and the lessons of life.

That's a true fact that it doesn't matter how much wealth that you have nor does it matter how long you live it's what you do while you're on this earth, you make your own heaven and hell right here on earth, every day that God allows you to wake up count it as a Victory and never let defeat have the last word, I believe in mining your own business and change your way of thinking and keep on living, No Envy No Jealousy No Hatred in your heart and when you Walk always act like you have somewhere to go

Ashley, If you do reactions to Rap, you need to look up Rakim the GOAT of all lyrical MC's. Some of his hit are: I Ain't No Joke, I Know You Got Soul, Follow the Leader, and many more. I hear you say you like to know where the samples come from. Well look deep into James Brown. A WHOLE LOT of Rap, R&B, and Pop songs have sampled The Godfather of Soul. Listen to the beats and rifts A lot of stuff you thought was original, is not, a huge chunk of it came from Mr. Brown!!
