Cyndi Lauper is the one woman who did the "yelling". She has a lot of great ones but my favorite is "True Colors". Bruce Springsteen is the guy you guys really liked in the beginning. If you think you couldn't you haven't put in enough effort. Today there are far more artists because the technology makes it easier for more people to produce music. It also makes it easier to search through all that music. If you're just listening to the local radio station or some song on Tik-tok it's your own fault that you don't know more modern talent.

I don’t think their age had anything to do with it. I am 51 and don’t like a lot of genres of music today and am not a fan of today’s music. If you put a whole group of younger celebrities and singers in a room that started singing , I am confident that I would know at least half of them. That because I keep up with pop culture and keep myself entertained. These 2 I am not sure why they didn’t recognize Lionel Richie, Stevie Wonder , or Ray Charles. You don’t have to be 50 years old or older to know about them or even to know who they are just by looking at them

To understand... in the mid 80s, Africa was experiencing severe drought and famine. A group of British rockers lead by Bob Geldof and Midge Ure released a record (Do They Know its Christmas) with all proceeds going to famine relief in Africa. Then USA rockers lead by Harry Belafonte, Ken Kragen and Quincey Jones, recorded the video here with the same goal. The last effort was LIVE AID. This is a weekend concert televised from three continents. The Live Aid video of Queen you watched is from that concert. Phil Collins flew on the SST Concord to all three continents and performed in USA, UK and Australia in the same concert. It was televised on MTV. Incredible concert. The finale song in the UK included Bob Geldof, David Bowie, Freddie Mercury and most of the huge array of rockers that performed throughout the weekend event. The videos of the Uk Christmas record and that finale are on You Tube. They raised over $200 million and it was sent to Africa. Unfortunately it was intercepted by a dictator and terrorist group who used it for weapons against its own citizens. Still... no generation before or after in music ever took on such a huge task which could have made a difference. Next to this, in 1986, you have Comic Relief USA by Robin Williams, Whoopi Goldberg and Billy Crystal. They raised OVER $50 million for the homeless in the USA. I am very proud to be part of the generation that gave so much to humankind. ✌🏻

Oh Lord, talk about making someone feel old. Stevie Wonder, Bruce Springsteen, Diana Ross, Paul Simon, Lionel Ritchie, Kenny Rogers, Ray Charles . . . all unkown. Still, you appreciated the talent and I guess that's plenty. I don't know about anyone else, but as the song nears the end and they're all singing the chorus, I can hear Diana's voice clear as a bell above all the others, like it's being fed down an earphone especially for me. Does anyone else hear that? What a performance.

Everyone in these reactions, who don't know Bruce Springsteen, always have the same response when Bruce Springsteen starts singing. Either "WOW", or "WHO IS THAT?". The companion piece to this song/video is obviously Live Aid, which was literally tbe biggest thing on the planet. Everyone watched, all day, while concerts went on in the US and the UK on the same day. Phil Collins crossed the ocean in between shows, appearing in both, which is a seriously baller move by anyone's measure. Live Aid was the GenX equivalent to Woodstock. Huge, I'm tellin ya..... Living legends appeared on stage, and I cannot overstate the hugeness of the event. For a minute, it seemed like we all might be able to come together and do something for people who could never repay or thank us, or anything. Probably sounds stupid, now. But it was a pretty amazing phenomenon, and mostly a GOOD one.

It’s a trip how as time passes, the icons even of popular music get lost & so easily unknown, even though they help establish the foundation for what exists today. Current styles don’t just drop from the sky, they develop. It’s just that Michael was able to keep himself relevant through decades of vision, creativity & love of what he did. But he drew off those who came before him, his elders, contemporaries & continually reformed his own vision, collaborating with younger artists & producers through those years. Musically, artists like Bruno Mars, Anderson.Paak, India.Arie, H.E.R., & many British artists as well approach the music with that same love of legends & their work.

Your assignment, should you choose to accept it, is to listen to the artists on here you weren't familiar with - somebody else has posted a list of who sang when - and then after you've listened to and familiarized yourself with the different artists performing here, react to this song again when you know who everyone is. Several reactors have done that and the difference in recognition and even appreciation for the song is so massive when you're more familiar with who everyone is.

I was 14 years hold when this magic happened. This song was played all over the World. I remember the day of 28th of March of the 1986, like over 6.000 radio stations all over the planet, played the song simultaneously at 10:15am. I remember in schools (Italy) when they told us that the song would have been played all over the planet and it is been so... It has been the biggest moment of unification that I ever lived in my life. Something that is just utopia, a dream, at the day of today... I'm so glad that I'm coming from that era. Quincy Jones, Michael Jackson and Lionel Richie materialized a masterpiece that night in L.A. This song has been made for charity. All those superstars went for free to spend the night in a studio to record the song. Some of them arrived there straight from the Americans awards etc .. They all left just when the job was done in the morning. No financial compensation for that long amazing job that they did. A support to Africa, that's it. There is a fantastic documentary (presented "hosted" by Jane Fonda) that shows part of that magical night. Whoever is attracted by this song and wants to know more, I suggest to watch that documentary.

I love you comment about seeing all the smiles because I remember that when I was younger watching this. Everyone seemed so happy. Guess that's one of the reasons I've always loved this video (plus, it's a great song, lol). Now you guys gotta do We Are The World 25 For Haiti - Official Video. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/fdKerJebuMnNhn0.html It's so good. They remade the song to help Haiti recover from a devastating earthquake in 2010. Same song, just with modern artist and a little modern hip=hop thrown in. If you loved this video, you won't regret it. I promise. Try to record it soon why you still have this one in your heads so you can see the parallels between the two. I hope to see this!!

I watch this over and over to see legends making history by humbling themselves for one common cause of trying to bring the world together under God. This song is the best ever recorded but sadly wouldn't be recognized today at all in mainstream media due to removing God as our father and we all his children from everything as we used to recognize him!

Oh my goodness, guys. All of these singers are musical legends. I’m a white woman and I can recognize every black singer and every white singer in this video. You guys don’t know who Stevie Wonder is? I hope you react to each of the legends in this video and then watch it again.
