“PRIDE “ ( In the name of love) is a song by this band about the assassination of MLK. They would not book a gig in the state of Arizona until they claimed the birthday of MLK a state holiday. Arizona at the time was a state that never recognized this legal holiday for MLK. And this band sells out stadiums globally! U2 is one of my favorite bands since the 80’s. They are humanitarian’s and give lots of $$$$ to all different charities. The lead singer BONO founded RED . A charity to raise money for HIV/ AIDS . One of the best and biggest bands in the world! From Ireland .

Bono is nothing more than a virtue signaling elitist leftist who thinks he is smarter than everybody else (except an even more effete elitist, Jeffrey Sachs) and flies on private jets while telling the rest of us to do without fossil fuel. U2 concerts are monotonous and boring. Arizona wasn't missing anything. The records are far superior to the concerts (and a far better value).

Also, maybe know the entire story and not jump to conclusions because it just shows your ignorance. Most celebrities are wealthy and some are greedy and some are very modest and U2 , one of the most modest bands of the 1980’s. And almost all rich , dodge taxes and pay less. You need to hear it live. With 70 thousand people going nuts and jumping up and down to the beat and singing at the top of their lungs. I still remember my own first reaction to this song. I was getting dressed for school, my senior year of high school in March of 1987. I was immediately entranced. I was already a U2 fan at the time, and they were still considered an alternative band, not usually played on Top 40 radio. As it faded out all I could think was "Holy crap, this is gonna be HUGE.". That album changed the face of music forever. It's cool watching a whole new generation hear it for the first time. Mad respect, gentlemen.

You need to listen to U2's songs With or without you and MLK. They will blow your mind. Their earlier music, specifically the WAR album drew a lot of inspiration from the Civil Rights movement in the US. They are Irish and the country of Northern Ireland has a dark history of oppression against the Irish Catholics. Their song Bloody Sunday is their reaction/response to attacks towards Catholic protestors fighting for their freedom from England. ☘️

A lot more than Dr. King is represented in this song. One man betrayed with a kiss represents Jesus who was betrayed by Judah. One man washed on an empty Beach represents soldiers who were facing battle coming from boats who never made it ashore alive. "One man caught on a barbed wire fence" represents the men who did make it ashore yet did not complete the mission as they were killed while caught up in Traps aligning those Beaches. Also could interpret slaves who tried to escape and never got away. His continuous chorus is questioning God, asking him why it keeps happening. "One more in the name of Love. "What??? More in the name of Love." Again refer to the word "Love" as God.

I have seen this band in concert many times. There performance is so heart felt . I LOVE that you have the open mind of music and that you have the appreciation of all the instruments. U2 is very controversial when it comes politics and there country , as they expose thru there music when they first started. Thank you for recognizing .
