This classic song by Foreigner, Waiting for a girl like you is one of the most beloved tracks of the era. Alexis loves Lou Gramm's vocals as well as the music. She noticed the many layers and talent of the entire band including founding members, Mick Jones and Ian McDonald, along with Gramm. From the late 70s through the 90s, Foreigner continued to produce some of music's biggest hits and most recent their song Cold as Ice was cast as one of the soundtrack features on the hit series Stranger Things.

I would venture myself to state, without fear, that Lou's singing is pitch perfect. I'd also say that when he delivers in lower tones he might have an almost perfect modulation in his voice . This is really a haunting love song. It's provocative and dramatic. In this sense, I do agree with your partner, the instrumental theme for "Stranger Things" has this same atmosphere despite being musically different. To sing and interpret this blend of 80's Rock and AOR I would list Lou and the late Brian Howe (Bad Company) as the best players in business.

Yes, the band Foreigner was used in Stranger Things. The song "Waiting for a Girl Like You" was featured in Season 1, Episode 3. It was playing in the background when Jonathan and Nancy were investigating the Byers' house. The song was a hit in the 1980s, and it fits well with the setting of Stranger Things. It's a catchy song that helps to create a sense of nostalgia for the era. ~BARD A.I.

Foreigner 4 was iconic. The album art grabs you right from jump. Anyone who's ever seen the old-school lead-in countdown from the physical film projectors of yesteryear immediately recognizes it. The sound was unprecedented at the time. It was released near the dawn of the CD player's popularity, though most still listened on vinyl or cassette tape. But the production values and the arrangements were ground breaking for their time. Foreigner 4 was a wall of audio stimulation that moved and inspired our imaginations and made our heads explode with auditory delight. We dreamt of being the Jukebox Hero. We felt the urgency of "Urgent" and that amazing rubber band delay effect on the opening guitar riff and the soul bending sax solo. This album solidified Foreigner as a Rock and Roll royalty and placed the "no doubt" stamp on their careers, affirming all of the great work they had released on previous projects. It was like, 1977, great debut self-titled album, you're on the map. But can you do it again? Then with 1978's Double Vision, the 2nd and 1979's Head Games, their 3rd releases, the answer was a resounding, "Hell yes we can!" And 1981's 4 was like, that line from Remember the Titans when coach said, "Run it up. Leave no doubt. Make sure they remember [the name Foreigner]. Can't wait 'til you guys return for some more Foreigner.

100%! I'd say that the 70s has the edge over the 80s because the instruments were real and not electronic, just a richness of sound with so many textures and layers, but this stuff up until about 2000 is the best music of our lifetimes.

What I remember the most about this song is how it spent 10 weeks at #2 in the USA. It just couldn't knock off "Physical" by Olivia Newton-John (10 weeks at #1, #1 song of the 80's). When Physical finally dropped, Hall & Oates jumped up to #1, and that was when Foreigner spent their 10th week at #2.

Foreigner is my all-time favorite band and I've been a diehard fan from the moment I first heard their self-titled debut album which was released towards the end(March '77) of my junior year of high school. 4 was a great ,iconic album and their most successful release commercially but their debut album will forever be my favorite as I have always considered it to be an instant classic. I've been fortunate enough to meet and briefly talk to Mick and Lou a handful of times over the years and I had them autograph my debut and 4 album covers which are now framed and hanging in my garage. Never in a million years did I ever envision myself getting to know them a little bit when I first saw them in concert from my nosebleed seats at the Spectrum in Philly in '82 during their 4 tour. It was on a Sunday which was the final night of three-straight sold-out shows at the iconic Spectrum which is sadly gone now. Billy Squirer opened for them. I've seen them over 30 times in concert at this point and I'm waiting to see them FINALLY be inducted into the so-called RRHOF. It's looooong overdue.
