I am a white metal head from DETROIT pushin 60 years old and we smoked pot and listened to this stuff..the people i was hangin with were black .white.mexican .italian .greek and russian..we used to make fun of our cultural differences and laugh amongst ourselves and I am a Swedish MF..love this music..Peace and love to you guys!!It's nice to see you react to this music from the past..

I have been watching a lot of reaction channels..You are young AMERICANS and I like what you are doing ....you are reacting to good music!!! I was in the business of touring with stage..lights..and sound for a lot of bands I didn't get to pick them and it was very interesting to say the least..Please do some Sly and Family stone "Family affair" or some Black Sabbath "Hand of Doom"..Shout out from the old metal head from Detroit!! On this song, every member of the band sings a verse..It was one of thier biggest hits, been in a lot of ads/TV shows. That face you see on the LP cover? It's a cartoon of thier much loved gold-toothed manager. (The album is VERY good all the way through) And War was my first concert--my 14th B-day present from my big brother, 1973, Portland, OR!!

"War" was/is just as epic as earth wind & fire !!!heavy on the afro cuban vibe & just many classic songs / they never got into the stage costumes like the other great bands of that era kept it street !!!

Another song in the same vein sorta is “Wake up Everybody”. Teddy pendergrass - Harold Melvin and the Blue Notes. My theater group (very amateur!) sang it during a MLK Jr play. I actually threw the song in and Five Stairsteps “ooh ooh Child” Kids loved the songs and the parents especially did!

They were big in the 1970's especially here in So. California. They used to perform a lot in my East Los Angeles area for special events. Their song "Low Rider" was popular here due to the local "car clubs" here that would customize their cars & the rear end of the cars were usually lowered.

This song has been used in a number of movies, such as Bridge to Terabithia and Wild Things, but "You've Got a Friend in Me" by Randy Newman was the theme song for Toy Story. It was also played in outer space when NASA beamed it to the linking of Soviet cosmonauts and U.S. astronauts for the Apollo-Soyuz Test Project.

You definitely need to do more songs by WAR. They were a very unique and underrated band. The were black guys from LA who played funk, jazz, reggae and rock with a strong latin flavor. They're in a space between Sly and the Family Stone and Santana. One of a kind.
