The only sad thing is the original Billy Joel song was in chronological order, whereas the Fall Out Boy song is just a smattering together of major events within a given time period. Still super cool, and a definitely difficult thing to do especially when it comes to producing a cohesive, well thought out, and good sounding song that could live up to the original.

If I had to pick one voice to listen to for the rest of my life, it would be Patrick Stump’s. I can’t believe you were reviewing something without listening to the original. Which came out in 1989 (incidentally, the year I graduated high school). Someone else mentioned the lack of chronological order & that’s my main issue. The staccato delivery of “Michael Jackson dies” is off putting, ‘Serena’ doesn’t rhyme with anything, and “Robert Downey Jr. Iron Man” has an impressive flow even though it’s a weird line. I can imagine them sitting around spitballing, trying to figure out what to include, how to pace it, how to order everything so it rhymes. Sounds like a fun project I would spend a couple of days compulsively gathering shit for & then I’d abruptly get bored & never go back to it. I can’t sing for shit anyway 😂 I’d be interested in hearing your thoughts after listening to the original (fuck Piano Man; this is Billy Joel’s best song.)
