I loved it out of chronological order, I think it’s what makes this(sequel, not cover) great!! This generation has been chaotic and with social media you NEVER get news in chronological order so I think it fits perfectly!!

This, exactly this. So many people complaining it's not in order like the original. However the last 34 years have been one big random full on mess so this is exactly how you would remember the events, not in exact order.

I respectfully disagree. Putting things in chronological order like the original did kinda gives future listeners a vocal time stamp through that time in history. I still like the song but that did take me out of it a little.

1:28 Yes. Billy Joel’s version covered 1949-1989. FOB‘s version 1989-2023. Billy Joel’s version was mostly in chronological order, although not 100%. FOB’s version is not really in chronological order at all. It bounces around from 1998 to 2016 to 1990 to 2001 etc.

Billy Joel's came out in 1989, at the beginning this says 1989-2023. So, this picks up immediately after Billy Joel's

Love it, great discussion, and yes, we (my generation) didn't start the fire but, hopefully, we're still fighting it, And I'm glad you fellas see that the end has always been anticipated by some, feared by others, stoked by a few zealots and some believing they had greater enlightenment even inked dates on calendars. (Wait for it....now?...how about now?) The details of the times changes (liked your personal references to the original, btw), but the broad strokes of life do not. Rock on!

@@unforgiven642 even if they didn't think of that while writing the song, that is now the official reason why it's not in order cause it's so true. First listen of this song was a wild flash back of my whole life I had it on repeat the entire day
