In this Sri Lanka travel vlog I am in Colombo going from the fort area to a random area known as Kelaniya to go to a homestay in in Sri Lanka. My experience at this homestay in Colombo will show you how they treat you as a foreigner in Sri Lanka. I got lost in this video and some kind local Sri Lankan people really took their time to help me find my way to the homestay destination. This is how they treat you in Sri Lanka.

Welcome to Sri Lanka Even Colombo 1 your hostel area isn't a tourist place as you think. It's the commercial capital of Sri Lanka. Administrative capital is 10 km away place call Sri Jayawardena Pura ( kotte) Kadawatha your New home stay is in district of gampaha. 20 km away it's a suburban city. SRI Lanka is divided into 25 administrative districts and 9 provinces. Your home stay looks really beautiful and fully worth the money. 1500 rs for tuk tuk ride is Very cheap. Because tuk tuk has to come back 20 km to Colombo. If he don't get a hire back to Colombo I wonder Wether it's worth going all that distance. 😂😂😂 Stay safe and happy.

Kelaniya is not in Colombo mate. It's outside of Colombo & comes under the Gampaha district.

Bro, you look like a Srilankan😊 . And that garden is so beautiful. Pick me and uber both good ways to prevent from getting ripped off. But they always ask you 'card or cash' . If you say 'card' they cancel your ride for srilankans as well. Because its a card payment the companies charge the drivers a precentage or something for every transaction (not sure but thats what i heard from somewhere ). U are kind and love ur videos. Colombo 01 is not really where the "rich" people live mate, I would say most live in Colombo 07 and those areas but Colombo is the commercial hub so "rich" people really live all over the place, wherever is most convenient for them. 😂

Bro rickshaw guy is giving you a fair price he’s saying Rs 100 per KM, we give them 120 per KM. That’s like 0.31$. Locals pay higher than tourists now. Petrol price went higher recently so it’s now like Rs 150 per Km now. Rickshaw cost higher price because they need petrol so much, Van cost Rs 90 per KM. You can ride by bus for like Rs 20,30 per Km.

Most richest peoples lives in colombo 7(cinnamon garden) then colombo 3 colombo 4 colombo 1,2,3,4,5,6,10,11most commercial areas and colombo 8,9,12,part commercial and part residencial and 13,14,15 little commercial and highly residencial area as best of my knowledge

Pick me is great, but only if u r payin cash. 3 wheel drivers dont like card payment. Plus, ur card will be charged only at the end of the trip, n u dont have to pay the rickshaw driver

I'm not even sure if Sri Lanka needs cheap tourists like this. He negotiates that poor taxi driver so much that it was obvious that he undertook the hire just for the sake of getting just some fuel. And as a result of his cheapness, he ends up in some stupid location that is neither here nor there. This is exactly how not to travel. He's obviously a novice. As a result, he's getting a village experience in a nice clean city. In other resort style location, I've seen him yearning for a more cosmopolitan lifestyle. I'll advice any tourist who comes to Sri Lanka, or visit any other poor country like ours not to negotiate in this chap ugly manner. That taxi driver quoted a very reasonable hire for the cheapest mode of transport available and this man takes so much pride and pleasure in trampling that poor man down down for half a dollar. It was ugly
