I don't know if Thai satay can be influenced from Indonesia or not, all I know is that there is a floating village area in Thailand whose founder is Javanese, a place of worship for Javanese, Indonesian angklung musical instruments which have now become a culture for generations of Thai people and maybe satay has something to do too. What is clear is that the peanut-spiced satay in Singapore and Malaysia was influenced by Javanese Indonesian culture which brought satay food there even its influence to Suriname America because in Suriname there were hundreds of thousands of Javanese brought by the Dutch during the colonial period who are now Surinamese citizens

so far i've watched every vloggers that has come to Indonesia. pak ari is the best culinary guide in Indonesia. because he can explain it very well not just cuisines that resides in java but also other islands like Sumatra, and he nailed it every single time

for a country with 700 languages and 1300 tribes. as a Malay tribes Indonesian you can get a cultural shock just by moving to other islands😂

Hi David, welcome to Indonesia! Hope you're having fun trying out the foods and drinks, don't forget to go sight seeing too. there are many beautiful places in this country. Btw, please be careful when you're having shaved ice because most of it is made from tap water and tap water here is different with tap water in western countries. I once had diarrhea & fever for 3 days after had es teler, ever since that I became cautious with ice sold by street vendors 😃
