Took my new KTM to another motocross track and had too much fun! This is the first time I've ever done mx jumps on a 2 stroke and it was a great learning experience. I feel faster on the KTM compared to my previous KX250F but still need a few more rides to get fully comfortable and confident on this orange machine. Hope you enjoy the video and thank you for watching 😁

Try doing warmups before you actually ride. (Figure 8’s, standing laps w/no clutch or brake, simulated gate start, Etc.) you’ll get the feel for the bike and how it’ll handle within the first 5 laps.

Some questionable advice in this comment section lol! The main thing you need to focus on when jumping a 125 is you either give it gas THE WHOLE WAY up the face (while making sure you're not getting pulled off the back of the bike)... Or coast the WHOLE WAY up the face (assuming its not a short and steep face, you wont endo). And maybe go a clip position leaner on the needle ;) It's cool watching you improve already since the first video on the 125, Keep it up!

The way I get over the fear of doing a jump is I don’t psych myself up I actually calm my self down and then just full send it If your psyched up then you’ll crash if you’re calm everything feels like it moves slower and it feels like you’ve got so much time to evaluate your situation around you while you’re in the air

Not sure if someone has already told you this, but especially with the 2 strokes your throttle has to either stay on or off. I hear you slightly blip the throttle on the lip of the jumps which cause you to air wheelie. Hope this helps :)

@DerekHallman
@DerekHallman 3 жыл бұрын
Yeah they definitely jump differently. I think we really need to maintain good form and correct position on the bike on these 2 strokes otherwise shit can get a little hairy haha. What I found worked for me on this track was to go as fast as possible up to the jump then go off the jump in a high gear/low rpm with a very light blip of throttle. 5:14 is a good example. I actually had to get on the brakes to slow down for the jump then I kept it in a high gear and just barely blipped the throttle. Did you recently get a KTM 150 also?
@freeriiiiide

@@DerekHallman yes i just went from a 250f that ive had since 2008 to a 150 that ive only taken to a track with real jumps once so far so ive been super intrigued at your videos lately haha. Im going to try that technique. My carb isnt tuned properly yet (i got a lectron) so blipping the throttle wasnt an option in mid range rpms because it would bog. I had to hit the jumps wide open or just roll fast into them and hit them like a mountain bike. I feel like the technique youre using will be a good middle ground. These bikes are so light also that body positioning is a huge factor as well.
@DerekHallman

@freeriiiiide
@freeriiiiide 3 жыл бұрын
@@DerekHallman all ive read was that its a no brainer to get one on a 2 stroke. I got my bike used (its a 2013) and the carb just wasnt tuned right. Thought i might as well drop the money on the lectron while im restoring the bike since i plan on this being another 10 year bike. I havent put enough time in trying to tune it properly and only made 1 attempt so far. But what i can say is it literally took me 5 minutes to change the tuning on it. I highly recommend it and i know i will get it tuned properly when i put the effort in. Your bike seems to be running fine though i dont think id drop that kind of money on it if my bike was jetted properly unless im riding at a lot of different elevations. What state are you in? I do plan on doing trips out west to ride and wouldnt want the carb tuning to get out of whack which is another reason i got it.

Yeah on a motocross track I 100% prefer the 125/150sx over a 250sx!

Not even a little bit this smoker is so much fun. I actually like that it has less low end torque haha! My corners feel like they have gotten much smoother.

You honestly look better on the 125 compared to the 250, I have a ktm250 four stroke and when I ride my dads 300 2 stroke it’s so fun but totally different

@@funky_juice86 Any new gopro mic quality is poo poo. My colors still look great and possibly better than the new cameras. I wouldn't use stabilization because it looks unrealistic in my opinion. I don't need any high frame rates because I don't use slow motion with my gopro. I film a ton of videos and if I used 4k my computer would go bonkers because each ride would film 100+ GB of footage. Most viewers watch on a phone screen that is only 5 inches wide anyway so no need for the large pixel sizes. Rather spend money on bikes and fun-having 😁
