My son is 15, he wants to design wheeled and tracked vehicles for the military, at first as a contractor but now he feels like he wants to enlist and then once he serves his duty then be a history teacher (primarily military history and years roughly 1900-1950) then coach sports while teaching. He’s our only child and he would be a model soldier (he’s thinking Army based on types of vehicles he wants to work on) and it scares the heck out of me of course but I won’t tell him no nor will his father, we have a lot of military friends he can talk to about serving (and has) and they will tell him the truth. Whole range of branches and duties among them all so a great cross section to talk to

This one hits me hard, I lost my best friend, my brother. SPC Freddy Delacruz JR on March 14th 2020. We watched each other's backs everyday over seas and depended on each other more than I've depended on anyone in my adult life.

@@henryr.schrader7520 luckily I never felt guilty but the nightmares are what bother me the most. I've always been able to control my dreams so no matter what was happening I know it's a dream and can control what's happening. I’m a veteran. I don’t care about the trolls talking shut about vets online. They aren’t the ones I signed up to fight for. I’m for free speech, but using it to talk shit about those that ensure it, is an oxymoron. I didn’t fight for them. It’s people like you that make me proud to be an American veteran.

The name is the survivor guilt and it is very difficult to deal with it. That feeling of why them and not me, is horrible. He returns looking for his own death maybe trying to end all that pain and pay that alleged debt to his brothers. Thank’s to everyone who has given their life on the battlefield. To all those who have been on the front line. Thank you for your service.

Ray…Humans like you make our sacrifices worth every bit! I am a Combat Marine Veteran who was lucky to not lose anyone in my platoon, until years after our tour of duty. We brought back all kinds of nastiness from the desert and it is killing our Veterans. I was one of the many Veterans who end up homeless but the VA was able to help me into a shelter and then back on my feet. Your reaction to these videos hit my heart and your plan to do lives is fucking incredible! I look forward to being there to watch them. Just please do thorough research on any programs you might donate to as there are many that are scams. God Bless you Brother and Thank you for supporting my Brothers and Sisters who are serving this great nation!

Semper Fi Brother! Glad to hear you are getting back on your feet. Most folks (civilians) don't understand that even thought the "wars may be over" that the battle rages on. There were 4 friends watching the game. There was a terrorist attack and one of them talked his buddies into joining up with him. The Army has a buddy program. You can join together and as long as all of them choose the same MOS, they will go through training together and go on their first deployment together. After that the Army can send you where it wants. The guy walking point missed an IED which killed his 3 friends.

The three of them enlisted because of 9/11. He went back because he felt he could try and protect more of his brothers and sisters over there and to prevent himself from ending his life. They are an amazing band! They do so much for veterans and first responders! They hire veterans and use them in many projects including their concerts and as actors in their videos. They have many songs/videos with a serious and needed-to-be-heard message. Suggestions Coming Down When the Seasons Change Lift Me Up Blue on Black(featuring Kenny Wayne Shepherd who is the original artist, Bradley Gilbert, and Brian May from Queen). Considering donating to the Gary Sinise Foundation. Research them and you'll find it's an incredible Foundation that supports veterans and first responders. Thanks for the reaction!

I feel as if I owe each and everyone of you Veterans, current Military personal and also to those who have given their life and limb for my freedoms I have and enjoy each and everyday a great deal of gratitude and debt that is owed that I know I can never repay. All I can say is Thank You, even though they are words coming from the bottom of my heart but to me I feel as if it is not enough to show how much I appreciate what you have done and are doing for me and this country. Thank You. Also thank you Ray for doing this reaction I would hope that someone watching this video reaction will come to realize exactly what the other side of war does to people and families like you were saying in your reaction. We never see the side where families are devastated and changed for ever by a loss of a loved one serving for this country. GOD bless, much love and respect from Sterling Heights, Michigan. Navy here, 80-89. Was in the shitshow when you didn't know which splinter group was attacking that day. Lost 5 friends when barracks was bombed in Beirut, watched my friends minds melt and wound up at the psych ward, had another unalive himself and had to do the identity at the local morgue. I myself have PTSD and medicated for what I was involved in and all the other nasty shit I seen firsthand. If it come down to brass tacks I would go back and attempt to finish up what started just to save another soul to never carry that burden. The demons and faces never go away.

Thank u for what u said about the military and their families. I'm a 42 yr old mother of a Marine and I have another son who is a paramedic. I never stop worrying. If u are still looking for a good organization The Wounded Warrior Project is 100% to the vets and are awesome. My husband and I give to them, we also give to other non military charities, such as St Jude's and Shriners. Also another Five Finger Death Punch song that is amazing is When Seasons Change, and it hits me bc I used to be a 911 dispatcher before I became disabled.

I've lost 3 Brothers over 4 deployments. Having learned a brother that I ate lunch with the day prior was KIA by a pressure plate IED while he helped another soldier... And I've been the one that had to deliver the message to the family(Casual Notification Officer/CNO). And also be the one that helped family through the process: funeral, the SGLI, death benefits, etc (Casualty Assistance Officer/CAO). And it never gets easy. From 4 deployments (45 months in all), this job never gets easy when this happens. I've also known Soldiers who have reenlisted after going through this as they want to try to use their experience to make sure it doesn't happen again. Until Valhalla brothers.

I watched my significant other get slammed into the side of an out-of-control car while going around 65 MPH on the interstate right in front of me, he shot upwards like a rocket 300 feet into the air, rolled head over feet on the way back down multiple times and landed on the pavement in a splat while riding our motorcycles to a biker event. I held his head while the last beat of his heart pumped blood onto the pavement. There were 4 lanes of morning rush-hour traffic that careening car slid across and the only vehicle impacted was his motorcycle! It took many years to get my head back onto my shoulders after that. I would wake up screaming, trying to wipe blood off of me that wasn't really there. I drank..... ALOT. I missed so much work, I nearly lost my job. I was suicidal with pervasive survivor's guilt. Why him? Why not me?? I didn't have a scratch on me and the man I loved was dead! I TOTALLY understand the line in the song "Oh please, let me trade,,, I would". I ended up selling my Harley because every time I tried to ride after that, it triggered flashbacks and panic attacks. I guess the message I have only for MY personal experience with trauma and subsequent PTSD is that even though it doesn't feel like it, it does lessen over time. That time varies greatly. This event happened for me in 1998 and I still cry every time I talk about it.

Memories lessen, PTSD doesn't... it's a permanent chemical change.

Hey unc, I hate to break it to you, but when he flew back at the end of the video, he wasn't planning on coming back home. He went to go join his brothers, that was a one way flight for him. He just didn't want to throw his life away in the garage, he wanted to go out like a warrior. I know cause not a day goes by i dont think about doing the same thing. When you were talking about knowing the pain of seeing family die in front of you...i know that pain. I dont talk about my service much because i had the honor of serving with true heroes, and men who gave the ultimate sacrifice, who should get the recognition, not me. But i was a 68WW1, a combat medic(Thats where the nickname Doc comes from). I've held my brothers in my arms while they died because i couldn't save them. Not a day goes by where i dont carry that weight of knowing i failed in my job to bring my brothers home, and not a night goes by where i dont see their faces and hear their screams. I've been in that garage more times than i can count. I want to thank you so incredibly much for reacting to the songs ive requested recently, ive not really been able to watch them too much especially the last one till today. When I first sent the series of requests, it was the day after I lost another member of my unit to suicide, and even though we're back stateside i can't help but feel responsible, reaching out requesting these songs, is my attempt to keep doing my job and to try to help stop anymore of my extended family from going out like that. You got no idea how much it means to me having your support in this mission, and you lending your platform to this goal. I wanted to put this comment on an older video where would be unlikely too many people would see it. Thanks again for all you've done for the veteran and active duty community. I kind of let time get away from me, but I'll be submitting a dono request here, with the hopes that you can do it on Memorial Day. I know thats not your normal schedule for Donos but to many of us, its not just a day off work or a sale event. Its an incredibly difficult time, where encouragement is worth more than gold. I'll definitely submit the one dono, but if you'd be interested in doing a live, like you're talking about in this episode, I'll be more than happy to supply the funding for however many songs you're wanting to do, I could also, make a chat room so guys who're going through it can talk to people who understand. Whatever it costs, and whatever you're willing to do will be very much appreciated, even if it's just putting the link in a post that day, so those who need it can find it, I'll be eternally grateful. I'm already more appreciated than you could ever know for what you've done for the community already, keep up the great reactions, we love ya Unc. ~Doc-Battle Company, 2-503rd PIR, 173rd ABCT. PS- only reason I was able to finally watch your most recent reaction, is because some of the family came down for a speaking engagement in Tampa and made the journey over to my side to go visit Doc's (the first Doc, Doc Juan Restrepo) street memorial and pay our respects. We got to talking and i showed em what youre doing for all of us, and one thing led to another, and were all sending you some stuff to show our appreciation. So keep an eye on the P.O. box week after next most likely. Thanks again!

Think of the story with the starfish, even if you were to reach just one person, you made a difference in that persons life even if you don’t reach any of the others, your ‘inkling’ is growing and growing!!!

Stay away from the Wounded Warrior project. I know you won't take anything I state so you'll have to look up their shortcoming (putting it politely) on your own.

We can be idiots and say dumb things and do dumb things BECAUSE they gave/give us freedom to do it. It's when there is people out there actively trying to take away the freedoms that the veterans fought and risked their lives for that is the true problem and enemy. HOMES FOR OUR TROOPS or Wounded Warrior are great choices for charities to donate to bro. Many, many others as well. That TV scene...reminds me of 9/11. I wanted to join the service as soon as I saw that. Unfortuately I couldn't even though I got very high marks on my ASVAB. I had open-heart surgery when I was 14 so it disqualifies me. Such a bummer.
