Greetings from Scotland! Diana's music DOES have power, believe me! She literally creates her own worlds that draw you in and give you a whole new perspective on vocals and music! When she sings a deeply emotional song you feel every bit of pain, passion and despair as if it was your own! Diana was 18yo here, last year, now she is 19yo but I've been following her since around 13yo. Diana is a natural Dramatic Contralto so the lower registers are her comfort zone but she now has a 4 octave range and it's increasing. Diana's birthmother had multiple miscarriages but when Diana came along, she seemed to hate her. She verbally and physically abused her, trying to drown her and belittle her. It all culminated when (at 3yo) she dragged her to a bus stop with a broken collarbone and abandoned her, saying "Survive if you can" A passing relative took her in but because she cried constantly (naturally with a broken collarbone) she took her to the authorities who removed Diana from her birthmothers care and placed her in an orphanage. For almost 2 years Diana never gave up hope and she knew that she was meant for something better. (This story is in her Wikipedia entry) Finally her new mother (Irina Ponik, who worked as a masseuse there occasionally) Signed her adoption papers and took her home. She vowed to pay Irina back for her kindness. Irina had a real struggle because Diana had obviously been badly affected by the experiences and at 5yo, she had a very bad stammer. It was recommended that she be taken for singing lessons to help this and immediately it was recognised that Diana had perfect pitch and an excellent ear for music and songs. 1 year later, at 6yo, Diana was performing solo on stage! This young unique phenomenon sang everywhere and anywhere she could, working constantly to earn money for the family who rescued her. Welcome to Diana's world! The most incredible vocalist I have heard in a long time. This was a preserved version of the original, it's shorter. Many of her performances have been removed from KZfaq of her TV performances due to world events, so others have been copying her performances. Try and take them from Diana's official channel if you can. The original is on Diana's channel, it's longer because it has several minutes of jury comments and is Well-worth a look. It has great English subtitles too. One of the jury commented that this performance was way above and beyond this contest, and they are so right! Of course Diana won that round, and she won the overall contest after it's 9 week conclusion. She competed against older, more established and successful artists and beat them all. It makes her voice sound so full. Diana's background: Diana was born on May 31, 2003 in the Far East of Russia. She was severely abused as a small child and abandoned on the street by her birth mother in winter when she was only 3 years old with a broken collarbone. She was then taken to an orphanage where, after more than one year, she was adopted by Irina Ponik, a massage therapist. At the age of four and a half, Diana still could not speak properly. She also stuttered. Experts recommended that she take singing lessons to improve her general speaking and vocal skills. This is a new TV show in Russia. There are 9 weeks with 9 shows and 9 well known artists. Diana is the youngest artist. They had to sing songs from 9 genres. The last TV show was on 20. November 2021. The 9 artists are also the judges for the other singer. And Diana (18 yo) won the overall competition of which Diana won 4 and took 2nd place once. She shocked the other singers with the first song. The Crow was her masterpiece in this competition, in my opinion. The judge who stands up is the great opera singer Yusif Eyvazov and the husband of Anna Netrebko, who is world famous. Sorry it took so long for me to find your reaction to Diana Ankudinova. Yes, a masterpiece, and got the highest score possible that first night of a 9-night professional competition. Not only was she the youngest, but several of her performances were off the chart. Just as good, her 7 performances in the "You Are Super" teens Russian national contest, she won historic back-to-back titles at the ages of 14 & 15, and several of those songs are still extremely popular. Diana is a contralto the lowest form of the female singing type only 3% of the women in the world have this type and only one Can sing like Diana.
