I love the way Johnny Cash could take material from Tom Petty or even Nine Inch Nails and just completely inhabit it. A true troubadour.

Listen to the original of the song from Tom Petty, it's more full sounding and upbeat. Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers are amazing as well and so many amazing songs. You'll love them and him. RIP to Tom and Johnny.

Funnily enough, this song was my introduction to Johnny Cash. And I heard it through this movie from the early 2000s called The Barnyard I believe. It was sung by a talking cow before being attacked by coyotes. Crazy times. Might I suggest Man in Black by Johnny Cash? Excellent song, and one of Cash's original songs.

This is a cover of a Tom Petty song. You should check out Some Tom Petty- he play Rock And Roll. Johnny Cash has truly great songs, The Battle of Ira Hayes, Sunday Morning Coming Down, I still Miss Someone, When the Man Comes Around, Gods Gonna Cut you down to name a few. A new Country Artist you might like is Chris Stapleton-he has a new album out called “ Starting Over” which has some great songs- my favorite is “ The Devils gonna Watch you Burn. Whiskey Sunrise, Arkansas are also amazing.
