Aurora has said that I went too far is about remembering you deserve to be loved as much as you love someone else.

I cried like a baby when I first heard lucky I always interpreted like overcoming suicidal thoughts the before I make the "offering" Remember all the faces that I've seen make me thing of being just at the point of taking your life and thing on what keeps you here, and by overcoming depression realize that you are lucky to be alive and feel like life is meaningful even tho you don't know what it may come

The thing about her first album, is that it really is a collection of all the songs she wrote a a teen and a pre-teen. So they are a bit all over the place. But still great, clearly. The next two albums are more like complete projects with overarching themes and purpose.

26:03 It's interesting that you visualised a forest with lanterns, as there is an AURORA concert in a forest with lanterns. It is called the HAIK Concert. On youtube there is both the concert and the documentary of the day leading up to it. It was a day of surprises for AURORA and the doc is well worth watching as an insight into her as a person. The Concert iteself is wonderful too.

I think Aurora said that I Went To Far was more about friendship than love. She said she used to want the attention of some people but now, she realizes that those people weren't good for her and she regrets what she did to try to be friend with them

btw the conqueror song she didn't like, they forced her to put it out becuz it would have "mainstream" appeal and after that she told her manager that if they ever try and force her to put a song she doesn't like again she'll quit. Thats why that song was out of place when compared to the others

Black Water Lilles is a dream she had and made it a song, and if you listen the end of Under the Water you could notice it's the beginning of Black Water Lilles, are connected so don't stop it and feel two songs in one

I love Aurora's music of course, but what was surprising to me was how much I enjoyed your interpretations. Reviewers are often so banal in their reviews, although you seem to feel the music in a way that makes the music even better. Excellent!

I definitely think the albums she made after this.....are all better. But, I can't help but love this album. I didn't discover Aurora until early 2020, but I went in order....and fell in love with this album first. I still think Winter Bird is one of her best songs period. This album _can_ be a wee bit sterile/clinical in the production, but it's a stunning debut. Given her 3 MOST recent songs(the woman i am, the devil is human, wake up) I'm honestly most excited for whatever comes next. I legit think her best work is ahead of her....because those 3 songs are her most recent, AND some of the best music she's _ever_ made, imo at least. Wake Up especially....it's just a demo, but wow....WOW.

I don’t know if you realize this at this point, but the version of murder song that you would’ve heard with the butterflies in the video I think it’s the acoustic version. It’s one of those songs where the acoustic version actually ended up getting more popular so the original album version is kind of weird sounding because you hear the acoustic first and it just sounds like it fits the song better

I admit the length of this video intimidated me a little, but having sat through the entire thing now I have to say I really enjoyed it and I'm glad you took your time to talk about each and every song. I absolutely agree with you that those reaction channels that basically just listen/watch then say "oh yeah that was good, please like and subscribe and comment what you want me to react to next" are so pointless. I love that you analyze the songs, whether lyrically or musically, and even talk about your own feelings when you find yourself relating to the song. Definitely looking forward to your reaction to Step 1 and Step 2 now. Also I know you've done a lot of Aurora reactions so maybe you feel differently about some of her songs now, but I definitely understand not quite jiving with some of the songs in the album. I think when listening to all of them in one go like this it can muddy how one perceives a song because the song has to stand out right away or get swept away as you clean your palate after every song in order to digest the next one. I too had songs that I didn't really realize were amazing until I listened to them on their own instead of in a playlist, and other songs that I only came to appreciate after hearing them live. Anyway awesome reaction!

I really recommend that you watch some of her live performances, they're almost always better than the studio version!

I subscribed after hearing this reaction, and listening to this first full album by AURORA! I especially like "Wisdom Cries," which has such interesting harmonies and an experimental avant garde feel to it (reminds me a bit of The Beatles later studio efforts). AURORA's next two song collections are actually Step 1 and Step 2 of a gestault (forming one whole album in two parts). She continues to develop and diversify her music -- definitely worth delving into! Then there are her live performances -- in which she takes her songs to another level! I strongly recommend her highly energetic KEXP performance in Iceland, where she sings "Churchyard" and "All is Soft Inside”; as well as the Nidarosdomen Concert (in a cathedral with orchestral ensemble and choir), particularly the songs "It Happened Quiet," "Through the Eyes of a Child," "Little Boy in the Grass" and "Lucky." ; or the HAIK 2019 concert she held in a forest: "Infections of a Different Kind," "The Seed," “Daydreamer” and others; and most recently, the Bergen Philharmonic concert where she sings “Soulless Creatures” live for the first time! These are just a few suggestions -- at age 24, she already has quite an impressive repertoire.

As a whole I think they are better than this album as good as this is. And her live performances are oftentimes better than the studio version, for example Murder Song live at Nobel Peace Prize and the Lucky live at Nidarosdomen. These are just so so emotional live.

Really liked your reaction. The reason you didnt recognise Murder song, was because the black and white video is the acoustic version. Also Half the world away is an Oasis cover. I like this album but I prefere Infections of a different kind step 1 and A different kind of human step 2. I dont over analyze her lyrics, but let my mind wander. Her lyrics can be interpreted in different ways, so make it your own. :-) Sometimes knowing what the auther thought just limit your experience, and - the hole point is for me/you/them/we to reflect and think and experience wat we hear and see. Love your reaction to this whole album :) ... If there's anything i want to mention it's that she sings Through the Eyes of a Child so much better live! And there are a few different versions. I recommend trying them all. :) Actually she sings all these songs better in live performances come to think of it... hence the Murder song sounding weird to you.

Nice reaction! All my demons .. is Aurora's intruduction to the world . From age 9 upto now she has written over 1100 songs and poems . The song Lucky was written when she was 9 , Runaway at 11 , Running with the wolves at 17 ... genius!

I feel that lucky has several meanings.Aurora tends not to say what her songs mean. Also in this album a lot of her songs were written when she was very young like 9years old! She once told a story on a documentary that she once fell off the roof of her house as she put it trying to fly. She was apparently very lucky to be alive. Take from that phrase what you will.

Along listening to your reaction.. You are the first one who nailed the song Lucky so well at the first listening. It is exactely what you get from it, bad days, even the real dark one when you thinking of suicide you have to remember all the love, the pepole and the good things to help you to hold one more day, even one more hour sometime. I think it's one of her best healing song. (she more tho)

Her live performances are so much better than the album. You must check out her live performances. She is really mesmerizing/captivating. All of her music videos are pretty cool too. And as others have said, her live performances from Nidarostomen cathedral concert are breathtaking. (Especially "Through the eyes of a child" which is soooooo much better than the album version.

Wisdom Cries is my favourite on the album and i.m.h.o. one of the most "important" songs the has ever made.

It's so sad Aurora didn't include one of her best songs from this era into the album. "All My Demons" the title track was cut from the LP. But there are live versions of it on KZfaq, so you could also check that out! But yeah, thank you for the video. I think you cut in half the most meaningful part of the lyrics in "Runaway" which is: "And all this time I have been lyin' Oh, lyin' in secret to myself. I've been putting sorrow on the farthest place on my shelf." So to me its a song about coping with loss, and running away from the difficult things in life, and feeling lost.

Conqueror is also Auroras least favorite song. It was a song demanded by her label to be a radio hit and more appealing to the masses. I belive she said later that if they ever try to force her to do stuff she dont want. She would quit in a second. Talk about integrity....

I have heard that Conqueror is Aurora’s least favourite song and she almost never sings it live nowadays. She voted against it as a single, but unusually enough resigned to her manager’s wish.

Aurora is both an audio and visual experience and it would be impossible to evaluate one without experiencing the other.

A little info on conqueror Aurora really doesn't like it very much. She has refused to sing it when asked to finish shows with it.Thats why you will very rarely hear it at any of her concerts.
