Haruna the drummer is still happy as she always is without a sweat at the finale of two hour concert. The only one who had formal music education is Miyako the dark haired guitarist but as a pianist. She started piano at her 3 but started teaching herself guitar at her 18. Midori the shredder went guitar school at even 20. Asami the singer learned ballet from her two. Haruna the drummer and Miho the bassist started playing in each band, I think, from middle school, but they all still read score and compose their songs. Terrific reaction to a great song from the best band in metal today (imho). They are insanely talented, and the drummer, Haruna, is big little engine, pocket nuke - all 4' 9" of her! Their live stuff is so electric and tight so I don't know what to recommend next, lol. Suggestions: Shadowmaker live or MV - phenomenal power metal song Winds of Transylvania live or MV - 5mins of insane guitars Edge of the World live - more proggy, with many transitions and Asami (vocals) kicks ass opening the song Whatever you do next will be epic regardless and I can't wait. FYI - Although the posting date makes it seem like this is a recent video, it actually is not. This video was re-posted by the band and their label because the original video had an outdated advertisement incorporated into the middle of it. So they posted this one without the obsolete ad. It was actually released several years ago. They did the same with Shadowmaker.

They may have reposted this, but it is one of their oldest videos. It is a studio MV with scene cuts from live as well as behind-the-scenes material. It just shows you how fully formed they were right out of the gate. There are at least three live versions of this song floating around, each one progressively more insane than the last.

The Crusade, as commented by others, was their early song and was made as an homage to "Aces High" by "Iron Maiden". This song was included in their second EP "BATTLE AGAINST DAMNATION" (June 2018).And this music video was also uploaded around the same time. The scene of the live performance used in the video is from the day after they performed for two days at the Japanese cultural event "Hyper Japan Xmas" (November 2017) in the UK, which was LOVEBITES' first overseas performance. The venue was London's long-established live house "THE UNDERWORLD". Many people from the local music industry also gathered at this live concert, and it was a chance for them to make a leap forward.

Asami's background was in soul and R&B before joining Lovebites. Some people hear a bit of an operatic style in her delivery.

Yes, one reactor said that Haruna is an efficient drummer, meaning that her drumming technique helps her not to exercise too much force when playing. Another reactor commented that mics positioning is also important. A very few people don’t stand Asami’s vocals but undoubtedly she’s a great singer and I cannot imagine Lovebites without her. Yes, these women are proficient musicians. If you want to appreciate more Asami’s vocals and other side of the band, I suggest “Epilogue” (nice vocals, nice guitars, nice piano), “Empty daydream”, “Edge of the world” or “Liar”. All live.

This video is a reupload, I dont remember the original video, so I cant tell exactly why it got reuploaded, but Shadowmaker the next "recent" video got reuploaded to remove an ad in the middle of it, so I assume something similar. Their most recent MV is actually Nameless Warrior and is the only MV I recommend, since they havent done it live yet, just watch live performances for everything else. Haruna is indeed a god on drums, wish they would upload some drum cams from her, but it seems their management is dead set on not making use of their youtube channel at all for some reason... As far as music education goes, im not sure on details, but music education is very important in Japan, it is mandatory for quite a few years, but I assume they have taken it even beyond that. Miyako is a classically trained pianist, started when she was 3 and would most likely be playing piano in front of some fancy crowds if she hadnt picked up a guitar at the age of 18. To hear some of her amazing piano skills I recommend Swan Song with Chopin Intro.

Asami, the vocalist, puts everything into every song. She said in an interview that she always sings as if it’s the last time she ever will. Before joining Lovebites in 2016, becoming a metal-singer, she was previously an RnB and Jazz singer (she has had vocal coaching), and she is also a trained (for a decade or so) ballet dancer, hence her fluid arm movements etc. Her nickname is: The One & Only Voice Asami is just 5'0" tall, but her presence on stage is absolutely noticeable: during the live shows she commands the crowd, even without saying a word (during the singing breaks). She is a power-house, with a lot of vocal stamina and one of the best lead-singer & front-women in the Metal scene these days!!

Haruna is a powerhouse on drums - I was able to experience this myself in Wacken in 2018 - all the musicians from Lovebites are absolute masters of their instruments - Asami with her voice and breathing technique, Miho (unfortunately retired) with her bass, Midori on one of her guitars, Miyako on her guitars and the keys and - for me as a drummer - just Haruna ..., Haruna powers 1 1/2 to 2 hours on her huge drum kit at live concerts at an incredible speed and hardly any short breaks, this with accuracy, speed and a timing - I was just in love after Wacken and aware that I could still practice for years and would never touch this mastery on the drums - fantastic!

Break the Wall was cowritten by Miho and Miyako and arranged by Miyako with lyrics by Miho. I suggest you next experience another Miyako and Miho combo which is two songs - a 2 minute instrumental composed and arranged by Miyako followed by The Hammer of Wrath cowritten by Miho and a keyboardist/composer named Mao with lyrics by Miho. Mao has collaborated with Lovebites since the beginning and has cowritten with Asami and Midori, in addition to Miho, and has also composed 5 Lovebites songs himself. There is a simple way to tell if a LOVEBITES video is early or recent. If the audience sees Midori on the right and Miyako on the left, it's an early video. Midori is on the left and Miyako is on the right in the current live. I imagine the reason why the position of the guitarist changed in the middle of the activity as follows. (just my guess) Because Miyako started playing the piano on stage. The placement of the grand piano should be centered or right of the stage.
