This live recording is from Wacken Open Air 2013, together with Floor Jansen [pronounced Yansen], the 3rd and present female singer of the band, in front of an 82K audience. About the instrumental and vocal added parts - it's good to know they recorded their orchestral and vocal back tracks with prestigious institutions as London Philharmonic Orchestra. London's The Metro Voices choir group and London's Young Musicians Children's Choir as their regular partners. Since this is your first Nightwish reaction, it is my duty to give you the [updated] short history of the band concentrated by Ann Waychoff, one of the biggest Nightwish fan who has since passed away (and I am doing this in her memory): " Nightwish was started in 1996.They are considered a Symphonic Metal band, with a female main singer. They are from Finland. Tuomas Holopainen [pronounced Tuo-mas], the keyboard player, composes and writes the lyrics for 95% of their music. [Sami Vanska was the bassist of the band starting with their 2nd studio album, he was with them until 2001. Then Marco Hietala was bassist and vocals, since 2001 to 2020. He recently announced his retirement both from the band and the public life for the next year at least. Then in May 2021 Jukka Koskinen [pronounced Yukka] became the bassist of the band, for the Human :II: Nature tour - and recently, the band announced he became a permanent member] And there is the guitarist Emppu Vuorinen [he also recorded the bass lines for their 1st studio album]. Then there is Troy Donockley from UK who is a multi-instrumentalist and vocals. Jukka Nevalainen [pronounced Yukka] is the drummer. In 2015 due to Jukka's health issues Kai Hahto became the drummer and as of now is a permanent addition. Nightwish has had three singers. 1st one was Tarja Turunen [pronounced Tarr-ya] (Operatic vocals). She was with them until 2005. The 2nd one was Anette Olzon from Sweden (Poppy, strong vocals). She was with them until 2012.The 3rd and current singer is Floor Jansen, from Netherlands (power, operatic, soprano.....most versatile) - you just heard her. There are live concerts that you should use depending on what era. From Wishes to Eternity and End of an Era (Tarja), Montreux Festival live 2012 and Exit Festival (Anette), Live at Wacken 2013, Live at Wembley, Live at Tampere, Vehicle of Spirit, Decades live (Floor). In my 62 years I have never heard a female voice that has moved me more than Floor Jansen. She can sing anything,, from operatic highs to a full metal growl. In my book she's the greatest female vocalist ever.

Romanticide from the same show is pretty heavy and is one of my favorites, but Everdream, Storytime, basically anything. Cant go wrong.

The best live Nightwish? It is whichever you have listened to last. This is simply one of the best live bands of all time. The order is not important, but I would stick with the links provided by Gabriel. They will all have high quality video and audio. I would personally recommend Storytime and Romanticide as your next videos, but go with whatever seems to be getting a lot of recommendations. I would also save The Poet and the Pendulum and The Greatest Show on Earth until you are much more familiar with the band, as they both very deep songs, but in very different ways.

Second, Nightwish is nothing but awesome live performances, however, this party at the Wacken Open Air Festival in Germany on August 3rd 2013 was by far the most perfect show they have ever performed, and in front of an 82K + crowd. It almost seems like the universe was aligned perfectly on that night just for them because as lead singer, Floor Jansen put it, "The whole show was just magic!" And it also happened to be the biggest show performed together as Floor had only been with them for 10 months and was made permanent 2 months before this party. As I said, the Army is coming, so I'll leave it at that for now because you found the Nightwish rabbit hole and it goes deep. So buckle up and enjoy the ride. Lilly, best live songs, all of them. They headlined at this 2013 Wacken metal Festival and did a 15 song set and every song was amazing. Check out Romanticide and Song of Myself both from Wacken.

All live shows are amazing 😊 Wacken 2013, Buenos Aires, Wembley. etc. My personal favorites at this moment are Dead Boys Poem and Sleeping Sun with Floor. Ever Dream is also still great from Wacken 2013. But you haven’t seen anything yet. Floor is really versatile. From doing death growls to opera to emotional in matter of seconds. After you checked a lot of Nightwish you probably will check some Revamp and After Forever. Floor her bands before she joined Nightwish.

I had to double check to see that this was your first reaction to Nightwish....I'm surprised simply because every other music reaction channel I'm subbed to I only subbed to because they did Nightwish (and I loved them... the reactor). But I've been subbed to your channel for quite a few months now, not sure exactly, but since your first Iron Maiden reaction! So I had thought you had already reacted to Nightwish. Nightwish is VERY deep. Though considered a symphonic metal band, they have a LOT of songs that vary so much in style and genre that it will surprise you. The entire band is extremely talented, top to bottom, both present and past members. Truly top tier. Gabriel...as he always does, has already given you some of the details of the band since this is your first reaction to them. But I'll add... you have Tuomas, the keyboardist and creator of the band who write and composes 95% of their stuff is nicknamed "the metal Mozart" because he really is that talented at what he writes and composes..and he's pretty good on the keyboards too. Marko, the bassist (unfortunately he retired last year) is also a talented vocalist in his own right and has his own band he created with his brother in 1982 in which he's the lead singer, but in this band he's the bassist but has some vocals, and even a few songs where he's the lead vocals. And I don't mean to skip over the others who are also extremely talented... but then you have Floor Jansen the lead singer here. Her talent is pretty much unmatched anywhere. Yes, there are other vocalists that you can put on the same level as Floor, but there aren't many. Floor can sing any style, any genre, and her range and control is incredible. There's a saying I've heard... other singers sing what they can, Floor sings whatever she wants! And it's more than just her vocal talents, she has a presence and a charisma on stage that draws you in. I highly recommend you react to more Nightwish... you will not be disappointed. They have some really heavy stuff and some lighter stuff but most falls more with the "metal" category really. Follow Gabriel's list of music and you can't go wrong... though his list is far from complete (and knowing how many great songs this band has it couldn't be complete without including every song) and some of my favorites are not on his list. So if you do decide to dive into more Nightwish and you do decided to follow Gabriel's list, don't be afraid to go off the list as well. I have heard pretty much ALL of their music (that I know of) and there isn't a single song that I dislike.

Finally a female. Floor Jansen no less! She's a bad ass with killer vocals. She can really freaking sing. I mentioned them before but if you haven't yet you should check out Jinjer. Tatiana Shmailyuk is an amazing vocalist. 'Pisces' has to come first of course. oh, and if you get a chance, on or off camera, check out Floor Jansen covering 'Shallow' by Bradley Cooper and Lady Gaga @ Beste Zangers 2019. Not my thing usually, don't care for the original actually, but it's a very good vocal performance. She does a lot of other stuff besides Nightwish.

Floor Jansen is called the Valkyrie Goddess of Metal and Empathy. Floor Jansen is a soprano, with a range of more than 4 octaves (Eb2 to F6). She can sing from classical to belting and raspy vocals like screaming and death growls. And she's also a voice coach and teacher to boot. Plus, huge vocal nerd 😉. Floor Jansen was the singer of the Dutch metal band After Forever from 1997 to early 2009. From 1999 she studied at the Rockacademie in Tilburg with classmates Jacqueline Govaert and Danny Vera, where she graduated in 2003. She studied musical theatre and a year of opera. In addition to her activities at After Forever, she gave singing lessons. She plays guitar, piano and flute. On May 5, 2010, she presented her new band ReVamp, which was disbanded in September 2016. From 1 October 2012 Jansen replaced Anette Olzon (Second singer of Nightwish after Tarja) as singer of Nightwish during the Imaginaerum World Tour (And she had to learn the setlist in 48h). On October 9, 2013, it was announced that she would be the group's regular new front singer. In 2015, Nightwish released the album Endless Forms Most Beautiful with Jansen as lead singer. Nightwish's second studio album with Jansen as front singer, Human. :II: Nature., was released in April 2020. There have been precious few bands in history that are THIS PHENOMENAL live, and you just stumbled onto one of them. Well, the best performance is the one you just watched but we're I to suggest another one from this show, it's Ever Dream. A lot has changed since 2013 with band members, and though still with the band, the vocalist, Floor Jansen, is set to release her first solo album next month. She's released four singles from the album and highly recommend the live versions of the first three (more organic than the studio produced music videos.) One point from this performance - it was #13 of 15 in the set list.

welcome to the fantastic symphonic metal universe of Nightwish Band, their live performances are some of the things that come so close to epic that they get to be mythical and of course Floor Jansen, queen of the stage and goddess of music, she can sing anything in any musical style she wants (WARNING! her voice, her stage presence, her charisma, in one word: her "spell" is highly addictive). this concert (wacken 2013) is incredibly epic and deserves to be watched and reacted entirely, song by song, in particular I suggest these three songs: "song of myself", "storytime" and "ever dream" this performance of "ghost love score" is one of the three best performances of the nightwish band, together with "the poet and the pendulum" from 2015 concert at the london wembley arena and "the greatest show on earth" from 2015 concert in tampere - finland (actually there is a fourth best performance: "dead boy's poem" from the 2018 concert in buenos aires).

Nightwish is symphonic metal from Finland... the perfect blend of movie soundtracks, heavy metal, theatrical & operatic vocals... the songs are the work of composer/ lyricist/ keyboardist Tuomas Holopainen, who formed Nightwish in the 90's... Tarja was the original female vocalist, whose operatic voice made Nightwish a musical force on the first 5 records, debuting in 1997 w/ "Angels fall first"... then, followed up by 'Oceanborn' (1998) and 'Wishmaster' (2000)... and the EP 'Over the hills & far away' in 2001. Marco (bass) joined in 2002 and did male vocals w/ Tarja, Tuomas, Emppu (guitar) and Jukka (drums)... The albums 'Century child' (2002) and 'Once' (2004) became huge successes... but by 2005, Tarja was becoming increasingly isolated from the rest of the band and announced that she would work on a solo album. Frustrated by her demands, Nightwish fired Tarja in '05 via 'open letter'. In '07, Tarja launched her solo career and continues to record & tour today. Nightwish enlisted Swedish singer Anetter Olzen for the 2007 album 'Dark passion play' and the following concept album 'Imaginaerum' (2011)... Anette was not an operatic singer, but Nightwish became more popular than ever w/ her on vocals. Unfortunately, the demands of touring took a toll and Anette began to fall behind the band's ambitions by 2012... On a US tour that fall, Anette was pregnant and insisted she do the tour, but after falling ill on the road, Nightwish made the decision to part ways w/ Anette... Dutch singer Floor Jansen did the tour after being flown in and joined Nightwish in 2013 w/ Troy Donockley (pipes/ flute/ mandolin/ vocals) ... Floor was the singer here. Thanks for the video! I knew this song was something special when I first heard it on the album in 2004(?), and this is probably the best performance of it. I'm jealous of anyone seeing it for the first time in this format.🙂

Best Nightwish Live, hmmm, all of them!🥰

I pretty much like them all. Hard to pick one out of so many. " The Greatest Show On Earth" is pretty epic. Tuomas is such a genius storyteller and creator and with the massive talent that is Nightwish bringing his musical visions to the stage. You just can't go wrong with anything they put out.

The best Nightwish performance will be next..then after next will come next the best..wellcome Nightwish world..:)

She is the one and only… who happens to be Dutch, happens to be over 6 foot tall , happens to be in metal bands since age 16, happens to be classically trained, and happens to be a genuinely sweet and kind woman, and stellar mother. The Valkyrie Goddess, Floor Jansen. Nightwish’s songs gave her the wings she always needed to soar above the competition.

Nightwish are an amazing band, and Floor is easily the best vocalist performing these days. For future reactions I'd recommend Ever Dream and Romanticide, both from this same Wacken show. However, you can't go wrong with any Nightwish performance ever. It's all great.

No two songs sound alike, though all have that special something you instantly recognize as Nightwish. They have songs ranging from commentary on the dependency on tech/social media, to a tribute to the father of planetary science, to a tribute to the literary greats, fantasy & mythology, commentary on religion, to the story of the birth of the Earth up through man told musically. So many amazing songs! Nightwish has been making music since 1996 through present day; and they are recording a new album this summer! So they have a TON of amazing music for you to go through! You should try Storytime live from Wacken 2013 next. Our General, Gabriel Bardac, has already visited you with a guide of sorts, with links. You can follow that list, as it's very good, or you can do the songs in whatever order you wish. I would only advise saving their song The Poet and the Pendulum for much later in your Nightwish journey. That's a deeply emotional song and very special to us fans. When the time comes, whether you choose to look at the back story to that song or do it totally blind is up to you. That entire show at Wacken in 2013 was Nightwish's best performance for pretty much every song they performed. Some magical blessing was active that night!!
