I’m new to pocket holes and I’ve brought the jigs and Hopefully soon I will be able to make a project because I’m new to work and power tools

my pocket hole jig doesn't make holes big enough to hold a vase.

You are correct, your pocket-hole jig won't be useful for drilling those large holes for the vases. For those, we used a 2” hole saw bit.

I was always told to not screw toward the edge of the board? This video shows the opposite? Can you explain Kreg?

The biggest determiner of where the pocket-hole should be located is still where they’ll be the least visible. In this project, we placed the pocket holes in a spot where they would be least visible.
