Thanks for another thoughtful reaction ... I prefer Home Free's style and I'm awed by their individual talents ! I also prefer the all male sound , especially the richness of Chance and Tim accentuated by the crisp tenor voices of Rob and Austin . All a capella groups are amazing ... it's just a matter of preference IMHO !

Those of us who follow the top 4 a cappella groups don't compare them -- they are all top tier and all different. Home Free happens to be my favorite, maybe because of their personalities, but the diversity of style is more to my liking. To be honest, this is first time I've ever heard them described as the underdogs (wink wink). Enjoyed your reaction -- Home Free is just pure music.

This gave me goosebumps. It’s so beautiful. I agree, both groups HF and PTX are great at what they do. I like variety. Who would think beatboxing would be used in a religious song like this but it works. Love it! I love Home Free. They’re so good.

Home Free has a number of originals. Right now, there is a trilogy of songs that they are doing. "Give Me A Sign" "Stargazer Lilies" the third drops this friday. Also, look at Catch Me If You Can." "Goodbye Dixie" Umm covers... "Brother" "Brother in Arms"

Comparing Home Free and Pentatonix is like comparing apples and oranges. However, I prefer Home Free because of their warmth, and humor. Their harmonies are spectacular and their beat boxe is world-class.

As you listen to Home Free, you will realize that there is absolutely NOTHING that they can’t do to perfection! Home Free has been around for a long time, longer then most. They are not the new kids on the block, (although they could do their stuff to) and actually are the inspiration that most other acoppela groups draw from. Other then their amazing vocals, their beat-boxer is a machine of improvised backup, delivering complex collections of sounds with metronome accuracy.

I love their rendition of "Mary Did You Know" - beginning and ending with the bass adds a whole different context to the title's question. Three of the men in Home Free are song writers (Tim, Austin & Chance) so there are lots of originals. Austin wrote the songs for Home Free's current "Stargazer Trilogy" series. Home Free & other acapella groups actually don't crossover too much. This is an exception as it's a modern Christian Christmas song. Neither is an original - that belongs to Mark Lowry who wrote it in 1984.

Great reaction to a fav of mine! You might like their "End of the Road" and Thinking Out Loud/Let's Get It On". Also "My Church" is a good one, and "Cant Stop the Feeling". Any song you pick will be good, because these guys have a lot of talent and are terrific at it

Home Free, Pentatonics, Voice Play, The Bass Gang, etc all have their strengths, weaknesses, and styles. It's all a preference; they're all winners. I prefer Home Free; it's more my style. As for the song, same thing. It's a preference whether you like PTX, HF, or the original artist Mark Lowry (or Mark Lowry & Voctave). This is a beautiful song regardless. Good reaction!

If you want songs that are HomeFree Originals, go with "Playing with Fire ", "Road Sweet Road","Understand","Remember my Name","So long Dixie". These are all original songs by Tim Foust and Austin Brown, you wont hear the other groups doing these songs. I think Playing with Fire is one of my favorite songs! The video is pretty awesome too! If you go back into Christmas songs, "Cold Hard Cash", "Christmas in LA", "Full of Cheer" Austin Brown has "Hers Ain't Mine" is awesome, funny as hell!

For this particular song, PTX got to it first. I don't know if that influenced HF's decision to wait to cover it or not, but there was a pretty big time span between the two releases. There's only so much Christmas music to go around. I don't think Voice Play has covered it, but they're probably up this coming season. Voctave, another acapella group, did the song 6 years ago with Mark Lowry, the writer of the song.

Seems to me that Home Free has a more country-sounding vibe, so if you prefer that, you might usually prefer Home Free. The versions I hear on the radio during the Christmas season don't sound very country to me. I think the PTX version of this song is so beautiful that I doubt I'll ever hear a version that compares. But I also love many Home Free songs. I agree with your reaction - they're all very different and all incredible.

Love Home Free! I don’t compare them but appreciate what each one brings to their music BUT for this song, the BEST version IMHO is by Voctave feat. Mark Lowry who wrote the lyrics and reactors experience all the feels as he expresses the emotion of the message which are his words. Please add it to your list, I know you will be wowed! 🎵

I really love these three a capella GROUPS,but for this song Pentatonix did it justice.Home Free and Voiceplay are exceptional but Mary did you know belongs to Pentatonix. That's an opinion of a Greek monk that can sing and chant(yeah that's me).
