As you've been told Re:Zero is actually a mystery thriller, it's also has a very deep emphasis on psychological themes. The psychology it presents in it's characters is very authentic and thoroughly researched. So much so that it's attracted a community of licensed psychologists/therapists that like to break down and analyze the story and it's characters. Re:zero doesn't shy away from the ugly stuff that comes from mental illness and trauma. Entertainment is not always the first goal of Re:Zero. There are times it wants to frustrate or outright hurt you. It's part of the intended experience to put you right there in that hell. I bring this all up because it will be ABSOLUTELY fundamental to enjoying Re:Zero that you approach and take these themes seriously and empathetically. Truth is Re:Zero is not well suited to casual viewing. It has a very specific audience it's targeting and because of that it's not for everyone. I'm not kidding or exaggerating in the slightest when I say that it's a common statement in the Re:Zero fan community that you haven't seen Re:Zero until you've seen Re:Zero twice. It is just SO DENSE with themes, philosophy, symbols and messaging, that frankly cannot be picked up on the first time. To give you a basic idea of why this is, the author of Re:zero started out as a fanfic writer so they liked incorporating lots of others things into their stories. Re:zero happens to be injected with an astounding amount of references and parallels to all kinds of various mythos, religions, astrology and even famous classic literary works. Re:Zero is a LONG story. Even with over a decade in production for it's novels, we believe it's only somewhat passed the halfway point of the full story the author has stated to be planned, and the anime has adapted less than half of that. That means as a anime viewer, on top of all the previously mentioned empathy and maturity it demands from it's audience, it also demands incredible patience because many mysteries are long running, the most important of which probably only being solved at the stories final climatic end. It's so fucking worth it though.

warning. theres a certain episode that will leave you in complete shock. if you casually view the series, that episode will just leave you confused. if you pay attention to character development and the sheer hopelessness that the previous episodes built up, that episode will hit like a train. in a good way tho 😅

Op 3 gives me chills, him running while getting ripped apart, screaming and trying to save everyone is insane, this is definitely my fav anime of all time, i recommend a full reaction to this! :)

Once again somebody reacts to the wrong version of Opening 3. It's primarily Crunchyroll's fault for not relabeling it as "credits version," but also it only takes the minimum amount of research or reaching out to a single member of a community to make sure you have correct versions for reactions.
