For Em, to still push himself even while not being sure what he'll do what his career while being in rehab, he even stated himself that he had to re-learn how to write and rap due to all the damage from the drugs he took. I'm VERYYYY proud of him for overcoming his demons which I know it's still hard on a day to day, but I truly commend him for being him❤️

I appreciate your breakdown of this deep song. I remember listening to this on CD back when it came out and it hit me. Now, it went from sad to remembering, if you need to mourn then it's ok. Stay strong and remember though you may have some flaws or mishaps, you're still beautiful and it's not over. To hear him sing in such a way.. the versatility. The GOAT. the sample at the start and end comes from when the band Queen teamed with rock vocalist Paul Rodgers. Song is called Reaching Out. It’s how they opened their 2006 tour Queen+Paul Rodgers.

This song will always hold a special place for me. Is it the most lyrical, complex, rappity rap track of all time? Not at all, but it was Marshall exposing his vulnerable side and empathizing with the world, and I heard this song when I was at my lowest. It always brings me a tear to my eye and I hope to try and spread as much love as he does

@@lillyjanereacts Paul Rodgers was the lead singer of the bands Free and the super group Bad Company (probably the band he is best known for) which was the first band signed to Led Zeppelin's Swan Song record label, he was also the lead singer in Led Zeppelin's guitarist Jimmy Page's band the Firm, after Zeppelin disbanded following their drummers death, I would recommend you react to Bad Company - Seagull

More than 15 years ago in middle or high school; I think I was helping the teacher putting everything in place after PE, only student left. When I began walking away the teacher stopped me and said to never forget I am valuable/important. I went to the changing room, sat down and cried my eyes out. Even with my best efforts to hide it he had seen I was depressed. This happened on one of those 'THAT'-day... I wish I had a way to contact him; I wish to thank him for saving my life. I never thought I would ever even get as far as to finish school; much less get to where I am in life today. Beyond being a good song, it for me acts as a reminder of above; so this song have many times since its release helped me 'keep fighting', still does.

Also keep in mind that Em was still emotionally dealing with the death of Proof during this time as well. So, without his best friend, the one who really got things off the ground in regard to pushing to get out of Detroit in general, opened new lanes to expose his skills to the industry AND biggest supporter behind the scenes? Well, that sort of lose WILL take the wind out of the sails, making it hard to find a new means of motivation to do something WHILE also dealing with rehab, tired of promoting album and touring, needing time with family, AND trying to figure out what to do with his label, other artists and friends without Proof's point of view on issues. So, yeah. Being on the verge of quitting is understandable at that point in a person's life.

Paul Rodgers from Queen sings in beginning. This is about everything he was going through while getting sober! Relapse didn't get bad reviews...Recovery did & Revival did! I believe thats how it went..its been a while! lol.

One of my go to songs from Em…. ,might sound insane, but I listen to his songs everyday, and the fact that he builds that connection with his fans, through his songs, I feel it’s rare to see, and Em easily makes it to my top artists list by miles. Listen to My Life by Em, 50 cent, and Adam Levine, it’s not appreciated much, quite underrated, but worth listening to…
