This is an iconic performance! Elvis is so fabulous-in tune with every instrument, voice and feeling in the song. I have loved Elvis my whole life. His voice is one of a kind, a gift from God. Elvis has been used, misunderstood and abused since his career began. People have used him to push their own agendas, when all Elvis wanted to do was use his gift to support his family, make people happy, and have them experience the presence of God through his music. Unfortunately, people using him continues today-but true Elvis fans know his talent and his love. He was not a god, he was a man, but he developed his talent to a very high level of skillfulness and it was coupled with his passionate personality, humor, charm, humility and love for his fans which caused him to be loved and admired around the world.

I can't help but be curious as to who the personal assistant is that this person speaks of as being friends with "now" since Joe Esposito was Elvis' personal assistant (along w-being his road manager & general right-hand man) & he passed away in 2016. This concert was shown around the world via satellite. 1.5 billion people, a quarter of the earth's population at the time sat in front of their TVs to watch him sing. There wasn't any watching it later or recording it at that time. You stopped what you were doing to get home to make sure you caught it. I was around then. That's what people were talking about. Getting home to watch Elvis. He was a household name.

This whole Aloha concert is phenomenal. This particular song is three in one (so trilogy) - two American anthems, one representing the south (Dixie) and one the north (Battle Hymn of the Republic), plus a lullaby related to African/American spirituals (All my trials). So once again Elvis is including everyone, and his jumpsuit is covered in American eagles because this show was beamed across the world via satellite and reached over a billion people in 1973. I must have seen this performance hundreds of times now but it never fails to tug at the heartstrings. Elvis forever ❤

CV, this platform NEEDS good people like you. Without you and other people presenting the solid soul of such a good man, the disgusting rumours and lies will remain unchallenged. Whether someone likes Elvis or not is unimportant, but for every person who bothers to delve deeper into who he was and what he stood for, it diminishes that hatred. Sometimes, one rain drop at a time is enough to erode a mountain.

This performance is iconic. Elvis , a proud patriot, singing across the planet , conscious that he is representing his country, dressed in his beautiful Eagle Suit that he commissioned to emphasise America, shining with his heart and soul. But this time I was enjoying watching your face!! So expressive and your body language spoke volumes. We could see you getting chills and see the awe in your eyes. Lovely reaction yet again, you can now understand why people adored Elvis. Not only gifted in everything musical but also a generous, kind and charismatic humanitarian who wanted to make people happy. He really thought he hadn’t achieved anything memorable with his life and would be forgotten! Well here we are now, nearly 5 decades after his death, with people like you,CV, keeping him relevant and introducing new generations to Elvis. Thank you so much. 🙏👌💕🕺

That was a Flute. Elvis loved to share the spot light with his band & back up singers. He had a voice straight from Heaven. Watching documentaries about him will help to understand him better. He sang from his heart. At Sun Studio in Memphis, he paid $4 to record a record, a birthday gift for his mother. Side "A" is called "My Happiness." "You could hear Elvis at the age of 18; he doesn't want to mess up," said Marchese. "This is his one take to do this and he wanted it to be perfect." Someone at the studio copied it & played it on the radio & the rest is history.

The song really represents the three "actors" in the Civil War--the South/Confederacy (Dixie), the North/Union (Battle Hymn), and the enslaved people (with that haunting spiritual). When I laid on my sister’s living room floor, and watched this special, it all came together! The next year we went to see him in concert. Elvis’s career was a process in multiple phases. INFO on THAT RAMP from the STAGE: Producer/director Marty Pasetta told Parker (Elvis' manager) that he wanted to build a ramp for Elvis to walk out onto & Parker said no. Even though Pasetta explained that it would be 8 ft. wide & Elvis could stay in the middle or go to the left or to the right if he wanted to because Pasetta knew how important the audience was to Elvis, Parker stll said no. Fortunately, Pasetta was able to meet w-Elvis & he explained exactly what he told Parker. Fortunately again, Elvis overrode Parker & told Pasetta to build the ramp. Paseta told Elvis he wanted him to lose 25 lbs., which Elvis did. Elvis then hugged Pasetta & said you are one of the few people who has been totally honest w-me. Without that ramp the concert would have been very different if Elvis did not have the option to get in close touch w-the audience. If you watch him do "Welcome To My World" you will see his interaction w-the audience -- just wonderful. The instrument was a flute. Trilogy is a medley of three uniquely American pieces: “Dixie,” (dixie are the states down south in the U.S.); “Battle Hymn of the Republic,” a marching hymn of the Union Army during the American Civil War; and “All My Trials,” a Bahamian (people of the Bahamas) lullaby related to African American spirituals sung by protesting folksingers of the 1950s.

Another great reaction, brother. I couldn't agree more. All those things you mentioned makes Elvis' shows absolute must-see spectacles. I wish I was around. I was 9 when he died. I couldn't figure out what the big deal was. It was like the world stopped for a few days. It took me a long time to understand what an impact this man had on the world - and now thanks to tech, we're sitting here watching his greatness together. I believe that's one of the biggest problems we have nowadays - There is no Elvis, no MJ, Beatles, Zep, on and on and on. No talented people making music that all people can relate to, and feel a connection to - just like right now! ✌❤

I’m 55 years old and I was 8 years old in 1977 and Elvis died in August and my father died in December. That following year I spent probably the first 4-6 months listening to this song on a 33 LP over and over and over because it gave me some sort of comfort and peace that little boy was needing at that time to help me understand the loss of my father. AND still to this very day when I hear this song I still get that feeling of comfort in my soul and heart. It’s so powerful and beautiful on so many levels!

Elvis was the most amazing singer of all time. He was also an amazing human being. He was generous, unpretentious, humble, spiritual, and treated everyone with respect, and then there's the amazing music and concerts and fun movies he left us. The King Forever Reigns ❤❤❤

I remember watching this MANY years ago when it first aired, when you seen the crowd there was people there like in their sixties and seventies, fifties all the way to grade school kids. The range of fans this man attracted was just mind boggling. To give you a glimpse how popular and well loved this man was around the world, I will tell you a story a friend of mine told me about Elvis. He was my parents generation and had retired from the Air Force and I was in the Army at the time (Now I'm retired from the Army) but during the fifties and sixties he literally went all over the world (Except Europe) put in communication centers for the Air Force. He said he was blown away when he went into some of the most remotest villages you could imagine in Africa and the people in those villages probably could not even tell you who the leader of their country was, but inside those mud and grass huts hung pictures of Elvis Presley. He said even decades later it still blew his mind when he thought about it, even in the deepest part of Africa, they knew who Elvis was. I know in the late seventies I was in Germany doing training and any building you went in that had a jukebox, Elvis was the ONLY American on those jukeboxes, the German people adored the man. Thank God the videos have been preserved where a whole new generation can see for themselves just how GREAT an entertainer Elvis truly was.
