Tomboy is about G-Idle distancing themselves from the term "Girl" Idol (the (G) in their name which is a wordplay on "Girl-Idol") In the last shot you can see Soyeon crossing out the "G" in Idle with red lipstick. They're commenting on how women are often not praised the same for their work and achievements as their male counterparts. "She/they are really good for a girl!" G-Idle are saying don't focus on our gender, just our talent and personality! Also I believe the song especially Soyeons raps are also commenting on the Soojin situation. Idk if you knew but G-Idle originally had 6 members. The girl Soojin was expelled because of bullying allegations (proven false) and rumors of misbehaving during school (drinking and smoking as referenced in the second rap). Soyeons rap saying she's not a perfect doll and she doesn't have to be. I think it also goes with how women/girls are usually held to different standars when it comes to this kind of stuff, and how it's more scandalous when a Girl sleeps around or smokes/drinks)

Soyeon has written and produced all of their title tracks and also is involved in every aspect - concepts including the MV concept - down to nail design. She is now both executive producer for the group and director of their albums. She is also only the 3rd female idol to be made a full member of KOMCA. Tomboy was very much a statement that they won't be defined or restricted by their gender. In terms of where they get their money from, they are the only reason Cube is making a profit at the moment is due to i-dle. For Tomboy, Soyeon fought to double the budget they had been given and got the budget she wanted by taking personal responsibility if it didn't do well. For their latest and most expensive MV, Super Lady, the group themselves paid for half of the costs. Some quick facts about the members: Miyeon was a YG trainee for 5 years and was the last to join the group. She nearly debuted with Blackpink. She has also appeared in web dramas. Minnie was the first foreign idol to be a main vocalist - she's from Thailand. She's also good friends with several Thai k-pop idols, especially Sorn from CLC and Lisa from Blackpink, but also Bambam and Ten among others. She has been in a Netflix series. Pre-debut, Soyeon appeared on Produce 101 and Unpretty Rapstar 3 while still in school. On P101, she got to the final but finished 20th - she received a LOT of hate comments about her looks during the competition. She finished 3rd on Unpretty. During Unpretty Minnie did vocals for one of Soyeon's raps. Soyeon also released 2 solo songs before the group debuted, and former member Soojin appeared as the "fox girl" in both. Soyeon has written all the group's title tracks, except for the album they did with 88rising. Miyeon and Soyeon were also part of the group KDA for League of Legends - though be careful reacting to even their covers of the songs because Riot will usually claim it. This includes their killing voice section with Pop/stars. Soojin still gets referenced by the group - they were clearly not happy with what happened. The most obvious reference is in the video for their song "Revenge". Yuqi is Chinese and was offered to join SM the same day she was offered Cube. She chose Cube because she felt that she was a better fit for their sound. When she was a trainee he vocal coach was trying to get her to have a more typical idol vocal tone. Once she was part of i-dle, Soyeon advised her to get a different coach who would help her bring out her own unique vocal qualities. She has also appeared in a Netflix series. Shuhua is the maknae and is Taiwanese. She told her parents she was going to Korea the day before she left. She really struggles with Korean and still is not a fluent as Minnie and Yuqi. People have criticised the amount of lines she had been given in the past, but she has said that she has turned them down due to language difficulties. Since Soojin left, she has taken on a lot of the lines she used to sing. She does have a softer voice but is honestly a bit of a vocal chameleon. Her popularity soared last year when she did the series Workdol.

Wait until you find Yuqi's (deep voice loml) covers and her solo songs!! Their episode of Killing Voice is also one you should watch. Whether that's for a reaction or just yourself.

it could be really cool for you to react to the behind the scenes of soyeon recording the songs. she writes and produces all of the songs, and even controls things down to what outfits they wear the set they record in and the NAILS they wear. she is definitely the mastermind behind it all lol. the best recording behind the scenes is the nxde recording and the super lady recording! she’s an amazing producer and it’s so cool to see her methods! she got all of the girls different voice couches so that they didn’t get rid of their unique voices, and when they debuted yuqi was extremely self conscious because she thought and was told her voice was too deep to be an idol. soyeon encouraged her and then highlighted her deep voice in songs because she wanted her to be confident and see how beautiful her voice is. and minnie is from thailand and pronounces her R’s with a lisp, so soyeon then wrote her specifically dreamy lines that would highlight the was she sang her R’s. she did things like that for all of her members and i just think it’s so interesting.

If I had to suggest three videos other than these to watch if you didn't know Idle beforehand, I'd suggest HWAA, Lion and Oh My God. But you really can't go wrong. All their concepts are different, all their songs are unique. All of their songs are self written and self produced. As suggested earlier, Killing Voice is probably a good place to get the breadth of their discography (just be aware that you'll probably have to mute the audio for KDA's Pop/Stars.

Alergy and Queencard seems to be about especially Soyeon's previous insecurities about her looks. When trying to become a trainee she was constantly turned down for not being pretty enough. She was even placed on a show called "Unpretty rappers". The insane thing is that she is probably 8 years younger on that show, but she looks the same then as now, just younger. But i guess she didn't fit any beauty standards, and she is quite short as well. Well, every agency that turned her down are kicking themselves now :)

Loved the reaction! (G)I-DLE is without a doubt my favorite kpop group (after my Blackpink girls). They don't have a bad song and I don't know if you already know, but Soyeon (the rapper) is not only the rapper and leader of the group, but also the main songwriter, composer and producer for their music. She is very involved in everything from concepts to music videos. Minnie (with the bangs) and Yuqi (the one with the deep voice) also write and produce music for the group's albums. I was actually impressed with how well you were able to tell them apart and guess their positions correct. Because Minnie and Miyeon are actually the main vocalists, Soyeon is the rapper, Yuqi is the main dancer and Shuhua is the visual (Miyeon is visual too tho). These positions don't have that much meaning in my opinion tho since they always switch it up a bit and in their newest album Yuqi actually had the most lines despite not being a main vocalist (which I'm happy about since she has my favorite voice in the group). In the end of the day they are a group with five all-arounders. Minnie is actually nicknamed the siren voice of kpop by fans, so it's funny that you said that too without knowing about it. Interesting that you're immediately a Yuqi bias. Our deep-voiced cutie. She really does have an amazing and unique voice. Personally, it took me over a year to settle on a bias in (G)I-dle... they're each so talented, unique, and beautiful. (G)I-dle is signed with Cube... they debuted before Cube jettisoned all of it's other talent; that is, when Cube was kind of a big deal and possibly on track to challenge the big three. Now they're Cube's only remaining notable group, and (therefore) Cube's main source of income. Somehow, you managed to pick three of (G)i-dle's most similar songs. I recommend more reactions, because they have so much range and variety. (G)I-dle's deput was "Latata" (and it has a music video, so you should react to it, actually two because they made an additional Music Video for the Japanese version) Other music videos you should react to include: "Hann (alone)," "Senorita," "Uh-oh," "Lion," "Oh my god," "Dumbi Dumbi," "Hwaa," "Last Dance," "I want that," "I do," "Allergy," and "Super Lady" ... oh and "Blow your mind" (I almost forgot it) I also recommend checking out the "I'm the trend" special clip and "My Bag" performance video Their live performances from "Queendom" are worth watching, but (as I understand it) not viable for reaction material on KZfaq. PS: For your next reaction I'd recommend prioritizing "Allergy" because "Queencard" is the second part of the storyline that starts in "Allergy." I'd love for you to react to NMIXX! They're the most vocally talented group out there (in my personal opinion of course). Specifically, I'd recommend Dash, Run for Roses, and Soñar. Run for Roses doesn't have a music video but it has a performance video. Despite it not having a music video, it's still very much worth a watch. If you'd rather have a music video for the reactions, then I'd recommend Dice. Also, since you may be confused by the member count, they are 6 members now but there were 7 before, one member quit for "creative differences" and is now a solo artist, so in earlier music videos, don't be confused if you see 7 of them.

I didn’t see comment ab this yet so I’m gonna give a little explanation on the whole “queen card “ thing. Basically this is a world play because in Korean there is a word that is pronounced as «quinca», which means “the most beautiful/popular girl in school”. In the last verse the girls say “whatever wearing girl - quinca, thick or thin girl -quinca” so the overall message of the song is quite deep. Also, Soyeon is genius. The song was nxde (nude) because (G)I-DLE is called (여자)아이들 which translates like girl idle, so if Korean pedos search for child corn ( girl nude) the song will pop up instead of the content.
