He was a legendary comedian, that's it. And you know perfectly well how he would have reacted to the pomposity of being called a philosopher. It's just a way for fans to believe they're smarter than they are because they get him.

Carlin was amazing at how he performed. His pattern on stage felt very, I guess Jazz is a good way to put it. Very much flowed and ebbed to keep the crowd listening. And his intellect and critical thinking was top level. He made you laugh and at the same moment made you think, such a hard act to follow as a comic

There’s good reason why George Carlin and Richard Prior (may they rest in peace) are considered the U.S. best stand up comedian. (Though currently Dave Chappell is knocking on that door. In Carlins case not only is his observational comedy spot on funny but his mastery of using the English language to enhance his comedy is a well honed skill. Notice that Carlin has a certain flow and pace and rhythm to his comedy. That’s because Carlin spent a lot of time in structuring his use of language to do so. His choice of words and sentences were carefully constructed to do so and were a large reason for his success.

You should check out Richard Pryor, he's a black comedian from the 70's and early 80's that basically paved the road and became a huge inspiration for black comedians right after Bill Cosby. He was the first one to let loose and not care who he offended even though most of his material was about his life and the struggles he had growing up. His comedy style is similar to Bill Burr except most of the things Richard Pryor says would never be allowed today.

been a lifelong Carlin fan since 96/97 discovering his stand up in highschool (You can’t go wrong with the man’s specials up until a point after the events of Sept 11 something in him snapped and his last two stand up specials are “Off” he was battling major demons at the time too… It’s night and day imo he’s take on world events and pop culture in the 80’s & 90’s was flawless though (it seems like alt right groups adopted a lot of his point of view from HBO’s Life is worth losing & It’s Bad for Ya (Which in of itself is crazy since Carlin was a broken hearted idealist that spoke for all people) Carlin’s Legacy is so important he was much more then a stand-up comedian he was a philosopher that understood humanity in ways very few people do…. All teenagers should be exposed to him when they go into there freshmen year of highschool 👍👍👍👍

the problem is comedians, like Carlin, are not trying to convince people he is right, and what´s scary is all of the reaction videos and comments like yours seem to tell me people just don´t understand comedy. And the majority of people are naive and easily manipulated, because they actually think Carlin and comedians like this are serious. I mean it´s rather pathetic, and scary as well, that people think he is proving a point or super smart or saying something that no one ever said before. Fact is, even george and comedians like him are just spewing 99% bs, they´re taking topics and turning them into jokes, not to educate anyone, but to entertain people. Because they are only telling the part of the truth that fits into their jokes, they´re not actually telling you the whole story about plastic or snails or whatever. come on folks, don´t be so easily manipulated. take comedy as it´s supposed to be, comedy. It´s not science lol

I'm not religious. But, I do believe that everything that anything does, affects the energy of another thing. If the wind blows a flower, and you stop to smile at that, they both affected you. If someone stops to admire the view of you smiling, then that wind has affected that person's energy. And, so on. Everything is connected. At least, that is what I think.
