“(I Feel Good) I’ve Got You” was released in early-1966, and appears to be inspired by “Out Of Sight”, which was a hit dance song for James Brown in 1964. That 1966 song became a much bigger hit for James Brown, and it became his signature song.

James Brown made numerous TV appearances in his music career, and I don’t recall any where he simply just would sing a song. He simply had to dance and move around, just like Elvis Presley did. The FAMOUS FLAMES were the SINGING GROUP with whom JAMES BROWN first began his Career with. They made many hit records together. He was a member of THE FLAMES from 1953-1968. The FLAMES were SINGERS…NOT FUNK MUSICIANS.

Understand that it's not about his microhone or any microphone. This is a begging song. Begging his woman not to leave him and the emotion behind that, and being caught up in that emotion. That's why he falls to his knees. The cape is something that originated in the southern United States Black churches by Black pastors and preachers.
