Just directly answering some questions 1. We don't know if he will be back in November since Public service Workers have to serve longer but they will probably not reveal his official date until later 2. Yes SHINee are still active! They had a comeback in 2021 and rn all members are just releasing their own solo stuff and all of them are awsome! 3. Both of the tattoos are real! The one on his arm is a flaming heart, fans speculate that it's in reference of his japanese song "Flame of Love" and the one on his waist is a peony flower, he said it means freedom 4. I was thinking about your question regarding the most popular member of SHINee and I need to say that it's not easy to say. SHINee is that one group, in which every member is so charismatic and every member has that special aura, so they are all popular as solo artists. And when they are together? Others have no chance of competing 😂 Also it's quite amazing that in a group with such strong talents (one of them being Taemin, so you can imagine) no one falls behind or stands out more than others! They all kinda blend together (in a good way) and complete each other ✨ Also to be completely fair, all the members are known for different things and different types of charisma (I can explain), so it's double as hard to definitely say who's more popular. Everyone attracts different types of people: - Taemin is of course known for his dancing and overall artistry - subtle-sexy, classy charisma. You've seen him, so you can probably tell. And he's the most known internationally. Also worth noting that the current interest for kpop (thanks to BTS) started when other members where in the military and he was the only one promoting, so maybe that's why you didn't know other members names. - Onew is one of the best vocalists in kpop and has very soft, gentle charisma. His nickname since debut is "tofu", because he's so soft haha Kinda shy, quiet and smiley - but on the stage still has that aura that makes him stand out, not falling behind his energetic members. He's also their leader and least chaotic from all of them 😂 He had a solo comeback recently! - Key is a master of variety shows (appearing on many of them) - so funny, sassy and witty with his sharp charisma. Even his voice and dancing are sharp as hell and that's the best way I can describe him, you'll need to see for yourself. He's the official diva of SHINee (and probably of the whole industry 😂). But please, don't think he's mean or highly demanding or any negative diva-like connotation - he just knows what he wants and is not afraid to express it. His sass is a funny bonus - I love the story when after SHINee's concert he started treating other members like his staff or backup dancers, thanking them for their hard work and such lol - Minho is known for his acting, visual and his sports talent. From early on in their career he gained a nickname "flaming charisma", because he's sooo competitive, especially in sport! He even chose (I repeat - that was his choice) to go to the hardest military troops in Korea for his mandatory enlistment - the one where you have to pass special physical exams to get in, have the hardest, most intense training and close to zero benefits! Other idols play it safe, just to get in and get out to continue their career, but Minho was like "nah, let me try to break my legs - just for fun" lol He was even disappointed, when he had to take a leave, because he missed out on some kind of training... I can't with this man. - Jonghyun was known for so many things, like his producing and songwriting (first SM artist with self-written, self-produced album and stared writing for SHINee's songs just one year after their debut!) and also is regarded as one of the best vocalists in South Korea (even on their debut song he's going off with his adlibs like crazy), he was also a radio DJ and he wrote a book. And his stage presence - phenomenal. Soooo captivating. You can tell that Taemin has learned from him a lot (and Taemin confirmed it), so maybe you can imagine at least a little bit how strong Jonghyun's aura and charisma was, if Taemin is his student 😉 I have trouble to describe his charisma in a way I did for others, because "strong" is literally what comes to mind, but it's not that descriptive.. Maybe commanding? Like, even when he's just sitting, not doing anything, I feel intimidated. Even though I know he's so sweet and kind 😅 Thank you for your reaction, I love your long videos. In the Move MV, the short-haired woman he's dancing with (when it's just the two of them) is actually Koharu Sugawara. She made the choreo for Move and a few of Taemin's other choreos, they also competed on a dance reality show together. Also, the one nipple rule only applies to MNet broadcasts I believe? Taemin got away with performing the intro for Advice completely shirtless on their music shows by painting over one nipple 🤣 I don't know if there's one more popular member of SHINee but Taemin is probably the most well-known internationally I think. Key, Minho and Onew (on-nyu btw lol) their own solo stuff occasionally so they all have their own fans outside of SHINee as well. But yeh, the group is still going strong even though they all do their own solo stuff. They had their last comeback just before Taemin enlisted and they'll probably have another one once he's back and they're all together again, provided Taemin is ready to work again by then of course. Oh and I'd HIGHLY recommend watching the MVs for Famous, Criminal, Drip Drop, Thinking of You, Danger and 2 Kids. 2 Kids is especially good choreo-wise because he freestyled the entire thing on the streets of Paris and it shows how truly unbelievable talented he is.

I'd say all 5 members were very popular, all of them have powerful vocals and stage presence, it was always difficult for me to pick a bias among them. But Jonghyun and Taemin's stage presence will always mesmerize me And SHINee are still active, their recent album is amazing. Also all of them have great solo careers. My bias in SHINee is definitely taemin since i got to dig into them because of Advice and i love him completely. but i would say all of the members have strong presence on stage. thats why they are still going strong as a group even in their 14th year. nobody outshines anybody. all of them are outstanding and their relationships are nice. otherwise i would have become just a taemin solo stan. jonghyun is always breathtaking and key has a super strong eye contact. onew’s voice really stands out in every song. everyone loves onew’s voice and also minho’s baritone. all in all they have strong presence and i think they are one of the groups that you can easily tell their voices apart. they are distinctive and easy to recognize. and yes i absolutely agree that taemin’s moves are captivating 💗 the details in his moves are unmatched. anyway for taemin’s solo discography, i honestly love all of them 😅 i believe you will love a lot of his b-sides too such as black rose. i would say my favorite albums are never gonna dance again act1 and advice. Taemin in genuinely unmatched in his artistry. I've been a shawol/taemint (Taemin bias) since 2008. Watching him grow over the years has been an amazing experience and he's only continued to surprise and impress as the years have gone on. I will say, I personally believe that in order to do a full deep dive into Taemin - SHINee is very important. SHINee have been together for fourteen years (so, this is a huge chunk of his career) and all of the members are really unmatched artists in their own right. They're also all amazing live vocalists and the kings of live performance, so it's no surprise at all that Taemin is such a great vocalist and performer. On top of that, the bond the members all have with each other is really incredible. For Taemin, I so recommend ‘Danger’, ‘Flame of Love (Japanese song)’, and he performed on a variety show called Hit The Stage where he won the first episode. He performs ‘Goodbye’ with the choreographer he works with a lot from his other videos. Ohh he has a song with EXO Kai too called ‘Pretty Boy’. I was really happy to see you dive into Taemin and you’ve made some great observations regarding his aura and stage presence. There’s not much I can add to what other fans already told you, but if you really want to get to know Taemin - the artist Taemin - you should watch his iheartradio interview (from 2019) and a fanmade, excellent documentary - The Artist Taemin by walawala. You’ll get a very profound insight into who Taemin is and how he thinks of his artistic identity. Dance wise watch Hit The Stage performance with his choreographer Koharu Sugawara, Just Me And You and Flame Of Love (performance MV), but please don’t focus only on his dancing. For Taemin dance is just another form of expression, just like his singing or visual concepts. He’s a complete artist for whom every element of his art is equally important. Oh and I truly hope you’ll react to one of his English speaking compilations or any video of him and Kkoong (his little princess cat). You’ll see a very different Taemin in those vids - cause off stage Taemin is the most lovable, endearing, funny and “odoroble” person there is!

Taemin was very young when they started a group, literally a baby, he was considered not a good singer back then. And look at him now, his growth is really impressive. Jonghyun helped him a lot and literally taught Taemin everything he knew. Jonghyun was incredible vocalist, his charisma was top notch, his songwriting skills were so impressive. He wrote songs not just for SHINee and his solos but for Exo, IU, Lee Hi, Taemin too. Of course now Taemin found his own style, but i can still see Jonghyun's influence in him. Taemin is my favorite kpop soloist, he is a definition of art itself and many idols look up to him. SHINee's power as a group is live performances, so if you ever get into them you can watch live performances Sherlock, Stranger, Lucifer, Excuse Me Miss

A couple of my fave songs from him are Dangerous and Thirsty. He has a presence that can't be ignored.

Milinda Wilson said on 2/12/22 Taemin became a trainee with SM when he was about 11 years old, and prior to that he had no formal dance training. He started out as a self-taught popper and locker who learned to dance by copying dancers on TV, and, even then, as a trainee it was clear his skills as a dancer went far beyond the average dancer. He said he thought dancers like Rain and Michael Jackson were cool, so he would try and copy their moves. He debuted as the main dancer of SHINee when he was 14 -- so he had about 3 years of training as a dancer once he became a trainee. So, most of what you see is just natural talent and an unbelievable amount of dedication. Taemin has put in a lot of effort to become the magnificent and unique performer and person that we know him as today. But there really is no one that pushes him or holds him to a higher standard then himself. He has said that he really has never taken a true vacation since he was a trainee and he doesn't know what to do if he isn't constantly working and training. As he has said, there has never been anything that has come easy to him and he has only gotten to where he is today because he has worked hard to accomplish everything. He is constantly pushing himself to become the best of the best in everything he does. Taemin has said, he has worked his entire career to create a style of dance that is unlike anything in the Kpop industry. And I would argue, that that now extends to the entire industry of dance. The first time he says he really took a break was around 2018 when he took 3 days off, and he said he hated it. That is why you see him constantly working and churning out hit after hit. Just consider the amount of comebacks and projects, etc. he was involved in during the year and a half, or so, before he enlisted in the military. He had one comeback after another, after another -- which all had MVs -- plus solo concerts, SHINee concerts, an SuperM concert tour and an SMTown concert, along with promoting it all with performances, variety show appearances and interviews, etc. And in between all of that he recorded an OST for a drama, etc. He literally was going nonstop. That is why we fans have said that his enlistment might actually force him to take a break and recharge. No matter what he has to do in the military, he will only be working about half as hard as he does normally. Taemin has released at least one song or album -- most of the time way more than just one -- as part of SHINee, as a member of a project group, as a solo artist or as a member of SuperM every year since SHINee's debut. You should watch some of Taemin's concert documentaries to see just how hard he trains and works. If you search KZfaq you will find 2 or 3 from his solo concerts, as well as documentaries/behind the scenes of SHINee's concerts. Saddlemomma 3/10/22 I think to truly understand Taemin and his thought process for everything he's done, you first need to watch the mini-doc, "The Artist: Taemin" by Walawala; Second, the interview he did for "The Stage"; Third, the interview he did for "Ravi Close Up - Taemin, Pts. 1&2". These, collectively, really get to the heart of Taemin and his feelings about his identity and his albums. "Want" is a VERY revealing song. For some it's just a song about how tempting Taemin really is, as he embodies every definition of temptation, but actually, this is the point where Taemin is boldly expressing his worldview through his music. Other than "Holy Water" which is a prayer, "Want" is a very revealing look into Taemin's worldview through the retelling of the story of Genesis 3 of the Bible with a little sprinkling of the salvation message at the end. I have a detailed analysis and explanation of the entire MV which I shared on KoKopop's reaction to "Want" which you can read here: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/pq6elquHts-3gGg.html (This would be way too long to include here.) Up until NGDA, Taemin struggled with his own identity. We can see the beginning of this struggle through his song "Famous" also released in 2019 (which was appropriately included in NGDA.) Through the lyrics and MV you can see his struggle with which identity is the real Taemin while also conveying the message that being famous may be fabulous, but it's also dangerous. You can, again, see the biblical motif of the forbidden apple in the video which speaks to the constant temptation to loose himself to the sin of pride, arrogance, and overindulgence often associated with celebrity status. For NGDA (an album Taemin has had the most influence over and participation with by co-producing and co-directing), Taemin specifically chose the concepts of Stockholm syndrome and Plato's Theory of Forms for a reason. He stated that he was in kind of an identity crisis (battle, if you will) between the real, everyday Taemin, the performer TAEMIN, and his IDEA of the perfect Taemin he wants to be - which encompasses both the real and the celebrity. From 2 Kids to IDEA we see the progression of the real Taemin breaking through the perceptions of who he appears to be and the merging of all three to bring about that perfect IDEA of Taemin. However, as per Plato, he comes to the realization that he can never really attain perfection on his own because only a powerful outside force can actually be and/or create perfection. Therefore, his IDEA of perfection can only be attained outside himself and through his Messiah - an outside higher power. In "IDEA", Taemin bluntly displays his devout faith as a Christian. His worldview is extremely important to him and is a huge part of who he is. If you watch any live performance, you can often catch a glimpse of him making the sign of the cross during parts of his choreo (he is a devout Catholic). For example, in his performance of "Heaven", you can see him cross himself three times. In addition, Taemin's classic "T-pose" is the position of Christ on the cross - not a reference to 3rd position for a dancer. I think rather than which era portrays the real Taemin, it's more of a continuing journey of Taemin struggling to find out who he really is as a whole person, who he wants to be, and how he wants to be viewed as that whole person rather than just as a celebrity. He has stated he wants to show the real, complete Taemin to his fans and get closer to them in a more intimate way rather than just the façade of the performer. the version of idea from the ringtone featured a rearranged ending! it was first done during one of the year end shows prior and i was immediately obsessed😩 it's so grand and dramatic, and he sings those vocal parts higher and sounds incredible, i just think that it was very big brained of him to introduce that version👑

I love Taemin's work because there is such depth of meaning to most everything he does. Most of his MVs/songs have dual and sometimes triple meanings. You can never take his lyrics or imagery at face value. Secondly, Taemin infuses himself -- his faith, thoughts, feelings, personal struggles -- into his work, especially since 2015. Therefore, to really know Taemin you must delve deeply into each piece he presents to us, both Korean and Japanese. For instance, his 2018 Japanese MV/song, "Under My Skin", reveals the depth of Taemin's struggle and emotions after his SHINee brother's, Jonghyun's, death. He said the song reflects his dark feelings at that time. During his 2018 Sirius Concert, Taemin cried before and after singing this beautiful song. It was quite emotional ( kzfaq.info/get/bejne/adyCasuYluCwg2Q.html ). Likewise, his song "Identity" is another tribute to Jonghyun where, during his 2019 T100110 Concert, he honors Jonghyun's favorite book, The Little Prince, through a VCR/Live combined performance. The lyrics of the song also reflect how Taemin intertwines his identity with that of Jonghyun's because Jonghyun helped to teach Taemin how to sing, as he couldn't when they debuted to to immature vocal cords. Taemin learned a lot about singing and performing from Jonghyun. "Want" is a song dedicated to Taemin's Christian (Catholic) faith. It may look like a very sensual teasing for his fans, but when you dissect the lyrics with the imagery/symbolism throughout the MV along with the explicit contextual, linguistic, and historical references, it's a very obvious retelling of Genesis 3 with a sprinkling of the salvation message at the end. Phrases such as "deep sea" which represent chaos in ancient Mesopotamian culture, "snake" which symbolically in iconography, and in the ancient Hebrew in Gen. 3 is a triple entendre grammatically which means "divine shining being" = angel, Lucifer, supernatural being....the list goes on and on. "Criminal", "IDEA", and "Advice" are all linked together to form a cohesive storyline with a closing epilogue ("Advice") representing Taemin's struggle to realize which Taemin is the real -- celebrity Taemin or non-celebrity Taemin. "Criminal" presents us with the concept of Stockholm syndrome to represent a split in Taemin's ego into two separate entities: the "criminal" and the "victim" within Taemin's mind. At one point, he realizes that to resolve the conflict he must be refined by fire and so says, "Destroy me more". "IDEA" continues the struggle between the two in an epic battle depicted through images of Hell (criminal) and Heaven (victim). Taemin, once again, uses a very unique concept to convey this message - Plato's Theory of Forms -- which states that any any created being (form) cannot create itself. Only an outside power/being can be the creator and only that creator (Messiah) can make or be perfection. This philosophy fits in perfectly with Taemin's Christian worldview. Within the MV/song, victim Taemin is finally getting a glimpse of what he considers the perfect "IDEA" of Taemin as created by his Messiah. That perfect being must become a blending of both, as he is a part of both egos (we see this illustrated in the epilogue song, "Advice", where Taemin wears a blended suit of black/white). However, before that "IDEA" of perfection can be achieved, there has to be a death and resurrection. He understands that to move forward to the next level, he needs to be refined through destruction and made new again. "Advice" is the aftermath of the entire story. In the opening, you see him battle scarred but ready to begin his new chapter as the reborn Taemin...and he comes out strong, stating I will take my own advice from now on, meaning even more control over his artistry. He will no longer listen to the "one" collective advice of naysayers. It's a promise for Act 2 of his career which will begin when he returns from his service. There are so many of his other songs which also give glimpses into Taemin's psyche and how important his faith is to remaining true to himself without being swallowed into the quagmire of temptations that is synonymous with celebrity life. Songs like "Famous", "Heaven", "Holy Water", "Press Your Number", "Strangers", "Clockwork", etc. To overlook such beautiful and meaningful messages is to miss who Taemin really is because he has been revealing himself through his music for a very long time. I'm so glad you started this journey and hope you will continue to explore his vast discography, including his phenomenal B-sides.

Been a SHINee fan since 2011 and Taemin was my first Kpop bias and he has grown so much over the years,from going to not having much lines in their debut songs. He's only one year older than me but i admire him so much. He's the first member of SHINee to go solo and a lot of current idols have him as a role model. All the members have their own color when they're doing solo stuff and I always say that Taemin isn't doing any style,he's another stye of music himself. He does have a few tattoos and he does play the piano,also he's close friends with Jimin from BTS and Kai from EXO. Move was that song that everyone was covering when it came out,it's a crime it didn't win anything. Also at the beginning he didn't like people saying he looked feminine but with Move and since then,he accepts his androgyny.

taemin does play the piano, he does for don't call me as well. he says that he is still learning how to play and wants to get better and that was part of why he chose the music branch of the military until his depression and anxiety became too much to handle and he switched to public service.

You should listen to Criminal! It's probably one of the best kpop songs (in my opinion). But all of his title tracks are simply amazing. One of the best solo artists indeed :)

I hope you can do a marathon reaction to the five members as well. It's surprising to see that even if they perform as soloists, the five of them blend amazingly well together that is a complete delight to see them as a group. Needles to say that's the reason Taeminnie is an amazing live performer, just as every member in SHINee. I would personally recommend their live performances for Sherlock, Everybody, Ring Ding Dong + Lucifer. Excuse me Miss, Love, 1000 years Always Beside You (the one that they perform in a roofless stage), There's also this cover they did last year to IUs dear name that will definitely make you go nuts.

Taemin is an amazing artist and such a wonderful person, I truly hope you’ll react much more to his music and also his off stage compilations (him with his cat or him speaking English are so sweet and hilarious). He’s very popular. Every member of SHINee has their own niche which is why it's hard to rank them esp. since they've been around so long and each are very well established. that being said ignore this if you don't want to see numbered rankings. Ok so as individuals: over all yeah most popular member is Taemin. He's a household name in Kpop one of the bestselling and most successful male kpop solo artists to date. known as the idol of idols nearly every single kpop group has a member that has either covered, collaborated, or looked up to him. Also very popular in Japan, one of the most popular korean artists (SHINee is one of the most popular kpop groups in japan so this isn't surprising and all the members are some of the most popular koreans in Japan). Beloved and well known in Korea as the nations little brother since he debuted at 14 so Korea watched him grow up etc. etc. always loved by the cast of whatever show he's on etc. No scandals, very loved personality etc. that being said Minho comes up second for being known outside of shinee especially with his successful acting career. Korea treats actors differently than idols so he has a different kind of notoriety too in Korea especially. legendary for his passion, sports ability, small handsome face etc. this isn't just me listing positive qualities btw these are traits known by everyone, will be mentioned whenever he is on variety shows and even when he's not there. like if someone on some show says celebrities and sports in the same sentence Minho will be mentioned. Also very famous for his perfect proportions, body, face that fits korean beauty standards. Again SHINee has been around since 2008 so knowledge about the members (esp minho and taemin) are very ingrained in the industry. Minho is also very often an MC at music shows, award shows, etc. Key is really well known in Korea especially as a TV personality as a permanent cast member of Amazing Saturday ( a korean variety show) and appearances in other shows. He's also making more of his own solo music too. His talent as a tv personality is what really skyrocketed his popularity in Korea lately. He started appearing as a regular cast member of amsat maybe four years ago? and since coming back from the military in 2020 has been all over Korea, different shows, cf's, he came out with his second solo album etc. he's Very funny, if you know Heechul? I'd say its a pretty apt comparison in terms of how he is known rn. Onew is very popular and beloved, he just hasn't been as active as the other members outside shinee in recent years. from mid 2017 until early 2022 his solo activities were not as frequent due to a combinaton of personal choice, external circumstances, and military service (not zero just not as frequent). Has an amazing voice. My favorite voice ever actually, in and out of kpop, something about his tone is unreal. Anyway he also did some acting and a lot of variety show stuff in the earlier shinee years. The reason he's not higher rn is mainly because he was somewhat inactive (not just bc of the military) for a while. So Jonghyun is a genius. Incredibly successful as a solo artist. This is difficult because I feel like I can only discuss his current popularity within the group (which is a lot by the way). so i cant place him in the current individual ranking. Before, He was a DJ for many years and had his own radio show so he was very well known for that. Known to be a music genius he produced and wrote songs for some very big names in kpop (like iu) in addition to SHINee and Taemin. Just as Taemin is known as being the best at dance in kpop Jonghyun was known for the best voice. It's actually insane how good his voice is. One of those things everyone in the industry knew and would mention all the time before. He was an incredibly charismatic performer as well. who is the most popular as male soloists: 1. Taemin 2. Thanks so much for appreciating Taemin's artistry. It's never too late to love him and his groups - SHINee and SuperM. I was also 'late' in getting to know them. I was like trying to stay away from kpop but it was just impossible once you get to know SHINee. I ended up loving SHINee as a group and their 5 soloists - Onew, Jonghyun, Key, Minho and Taemin.. so yeah, SuperM as well because of Taemin. So, it's like stanning 7 groups. Just don't be surprised when you start looking into SHINee - it's different from solo Taemin :) The main similarities are they are all amazing live performers, talented artists, trendsetters, and the most adorable human beings. Btw, the Advice look that you 'absolutely love' was Taemin's own idea. It's been like that for him - he puts everything in consideration when it comes to his art - vocals, choreo, visuals and yes, that includes his beautiful hair. As expected i enjoyed this reaction a lot 😭 I honestly just hope Taemin's mental help is good right now and he's taking care of himself. 🌺 He's dangerously talented and professional artist and a great person. If you ever consider to watch Shinee content you have to see their stages and live vocals and maybe their solo projects (not only Taemin's). They are honestly the kings of vocals and stage presence. From recent things i recommend Don't call me MV + comeback stage. And also i really like their cover of IU's "Dear name"! (Pretty random but watch it it's good) And in general you have to react to Lucifer and Sherlock MV those are old but must to watch There are more things of course but those just came to my mind.
