"Why so farrrr????" 1. Because there are already videos scheduled. I post K-Pop reaction videos on Monday and Wednesday only. This gives me an opportunity to share the other content i'm passionate about for this channel. 2. Releasing content like this allows me to keep the channel consistent and focus on other projects other than trying to keep a daily youtube schedule since I run two businesses. It's all a part of my quarterly releases. Which you can see here: airtable.com/shrkUSn8a34srUFLh. (Patrons get access to the master lists, and early releases) 3. Traditional studios and movies promote their content months in advance prior to the premiere to help build anticipation. The public already knows the date of when these movies are coming out. I know I'm no big-time studio, but why can't I take a similar approach to my content? Want early access to content? Become a patron! patreon.com/emeroyb

The look and feel for "Move" is very specific, it's supposed to be androgynous and gender neutral. Early in his career when Taemin was growing up in SHINee he was known for his feminine look. The industry thought it was novel and cute to dress Taemin up as a girl and play up his feminine features. (And if you ever saw Taemin dressed like a girl, you would see why. He really could pass as a girl, especially when he was younger.) Which ended up giving him a real complex about the fact that people never saw him as a masculine man. It took him a long time to accept that he was known for his looks and to come to terms with the fact that everyone thought of him as a "pretty boy," etc. So, at this point in his career as a 24 year old (He is 27 now) he was trying to make a statement about how he has now come to terms with just being himself and not caring what people think. Dancing is art and movement has no gender. "Move" features all female dancers because the whole point of the song and dance is supposed to be about crossing gender boundaries and how just because you are male doesn't mean your dance has to be hyper masculine. Taemin uses what is traditionally considered more feminine dance moves to show how you can merge both feminine and masculine styles together to create something that can't be singled out as one gender or the other. This dance allowed a more mainstream audience to start to embrace less traditional gender roles within Kpop. "Move" is one of Taemin's most famous choreographies and it has become the dance he is most recognized for. This dance has inspired what is known as the "Move disease," and it is said that the dance is so catchy that you can't help but try to imitate it. There are literally hundreds of videos online of people attempting cover dances to this song. (It is on the level of Beyonce's "Single Ladies" dance and some of the most famous TiK Tok dance challenges.) But no matter how good of a dancer they are, it is quickly apparent that there is just something about the way Taemin moves that can't be duplicated. Taemin is Taemin and there is no one else like him. The dance is never as sharp or precise as the way Taemin does it. That is why he is hands down considered one of the top two BEST dancers in the entire industry. As Taemin has said numerous times in interviews and on variety shows, the key point in "Move's" choreography is literally supposed to be to stare into the camera like you are trying to seduce the person who is watching. So, you are right, that is exactly what Taemin is doing. Yes, the female dancer in the "Move" MV is Sugawara Koharu and she is the choreographer for this song. She has worked with Taemin a lot over the years. She is the one that also choreographed Taemin's dance for his songs "Want," "Flame of Love" and "Sayonara Hitori" and helped choreograph Taemin and her performance on the competition program Hit the Stage -- "Devil" performance, etc., and she was one of 3 or 4 choreographers who helped choreograph "Criminal." Taemin and Sugawara are really good friends. She was also the choreographer for SHINee's song "Good Evening," among others. She loves working with Taemin because they are a lot alike, and that is one of the reasons why she has been featured in several of Taemin's projects. Plus, Taemin and all the members of SHINee, are also one of the most famous artists in Japan and they all speak fluent Japanese, so they have no problem communicating through dance or language. :D Taemin has worked hard to become the magnificent and unique performer and person that we know him as today. But there really is no one that pushes him or holds him to a higher standard then himself. Taemin has said that he really has never taken a true vacation since he was a trainee -- he started with SM Entertainment when he was around 11 years old -- and he doesn't know what to do if he isn't constantly working and training. The thing that he hates the most is when people assume he has had it easy because he is part of a big and powerful company and he is so naturally talented. As he has said, there has never been anything that has come easy to him and he has only gotten to where he is today because he has worked hard to accomplish everything. He is constantly pushing himself to become the best of the best in everything he does. Taemin's choreography is very much influenced by him. Although he has input in almost everything he does, he has choreographers that come up with the choreography for most of his dances and he then infuses it with his own ideas and style and makes it uniquely his. The way Taemin dances is just the way he moves. His movements are effortless. As you have noticed, if you watch Taemin dance a lot, you will see that no matter who choreographs the dance, it will always be very Taemin-like. Many choreographers who have worked with him over the years have said that, with Taemin you can't help but allow him to move in whatever way his body takes him. Taemin is art in every sense of the word. :D Taemin's style of dance can't be defined. As he has said, he has worked his entire career to create a style of dance that is unlike anything in the Kpop industry. And I would argue that that now extends to the entire industry of dance. Taemin started out as a self-taught popper and locker without any dance training, and, even then, as a trainee it was clear his skills as a dancer went far beyond the average dancer. Over the years, as you see with "Move," he has infused those popping and locking skills into his now more contemporary style of dance. But, when it comes to dancing, he can do it all and there is no one better at it than him. Taemin's talents are one reason why SHINee are one of the top groups in the industry and why they have such legendary status. SHINee is made up of some of the absolute best singers, dancers and performers in the entire industry. With more than 12 years since their debut, they still command one of the top spots. When Taemin debuted in 2008 as part of SHINee he was only 14 years old and, yet, he was already known as one of the best dancers in the industry, and he has only gotten more magnificent over the years. The one thing you need to know about the members of SHINee is that they ALWAYS sing live. The ONLY thing they are not good at is lip syncing so they avoid it at all costs. So when you see any of the members of SHINee performing, 95% of the time they will be singing live no matter how intense the choreography is. They have trained their whole career to build endurance and stamina so they are able to sing live while performing nonstop for 3+ hours straight and still sound flawless. They will never sound out of tune or out of breath. It may be shocking because they sound so perfect even though they are dancing so intensely, but that is why they are such legends and why they are so highly respected in the industry. SHINee are referred to as CDINee or CD-eaters, because they sound even better live then they do in their studio recordings. It is a running joke between fans and the members that you can tell when the members are lip syncing because they are so bad at it. (If you ask any of the members, what is something you are not good at? One of the very first things they will say is, "I am horrible at lip syncing." -- I have heard the members say this multiple times with my own ears.) Other Idols and audio sound technicians, etc. who have witnessed the members of SHINee performing live are always blown away, because in the parts of the song where most singers would take a break and rely on the backing track vocals to cover their voices so they can catch their breath and recover, this is where the SHINee members actually ramp it up and become their most powerful. That is why even as rookies, senior artists would stop what they were doing to watch SHINee's performances on music programs because all 5 of the members' vocal talent is that impressive. SHINee live is perfection and it's literally referred to as the SHINee standard. It's the standard that all other groups strive to reach and SHINee are the vocalists that all other artists try to emulate. That is why Taemin is so outstanding and why he is considered the ultimate idol of idols that all other artists look up to. :D

Taemin is widely considered among the best dancers in Korea. Other idols look up to him and are inspired by him. Idols fanboy over him. He's been performing since childhood and professionally with SHINee since he was like... 14? He's just effortlessly awesome, a legend in Kpop. :) And look at that crowd, all there for him. He's a god among Kpop gods.

maybe not so common these days but the influence of previous icons of androgyny like Prince and Bowie is surely part of the inspiration that's continuously poured in building his artistic identity when one day you see his debut piece Danger i think you'll be surprised at how outside his usual style it is an yet he incorporates to it the suaveness he is known for as only a pro could, many including me were surprised that he'd start out his solo career by taking such a risk by stepping outside his staple but its an admirable power move and declaration of confidence that he prioritised showcasing his individuality, and proves himself time and time again when he comes out with something unpredictable and the one connecting constant is his unfaltering skill to own it, to make it his so thoroughly one would believe he's responsible for its birth.

something taemin has talked about is trying to play around with the conceits of masculinity and feminists, especially in move. he has pretty androgynous features and used to have really long hair, so he got teased a lot for looking like a girl, but over the years it’s something he’s decided to embrace. he has a song called “pretty boy” with lyrics that talk about it a little bit and i think it’s super cool that he pushes the boundaries, both with the choreo and his styling.

Watching this made me emotional because you absolutely nailed it with understanding what he was going for. The whole concept for this choreo was to tear down the barrier between "girl" choreo and "boy" choreo, to say all dance is for everyone. Hes come such a long way in being secure in his own identity - having long hair back in Sherlock era led to him getting misgendered and emasculated often - so it means a lot to see him embracing it now and working to push the boundaries, and to see his message came across without needing explanation

What I appreciate in K-pop and Taemin in particular is the new image of masculinity that they gave to the world. Seeing the popularity of guys like BTS with the female audience proves that a lot of women don't go for the macho type anymore. BTS are well known to select their clothes from the designer's women collections. Taemin is possibly the best at pulling the masculine/female look with his dance moves hard/soft and is overall aura. After all, women have been doing it for almost a century now, it's time for men to "Move" too.

i love taemin's effortlessness and yes finesse is definitely something i associate with taemin. for the performance, my favorites would have to be at the fashion show or dream concert. thanks for the detailed analysis as always. i hope you can react to advice too (out 5/18) because the performance is so good!

This MV made Taemin #2 on my Ult bias list for males right behind Jimin. Also I don't think the lady was late on the head movement, it looks like the movements all start at a different time. Kinda like a wave.

'strength displayed through subtlety' - exactly! this! it's so rare to see dances or choreos like this. people think hard hitting choreos displays the strength of a dancer and that's so wrong imo. it's so difficult to move with slow and subtle movements because you're prone to make and notice more mistakes by losing the balance than hard hitting and fast choreos. :/

The body control needed to make this look as good as this does is INSANE. It's the difference between looking subtle and alluring and just looking like an octopus falling out of a tree

I think that the best way to understand how GOOD Taemin is, and what this choreography IS, is to watch various people try to cover it. Even Momo from Twice couldn't quite pull it off. Don't come for me! I love Momo. That's my point, she's amazing, love her. If even a queen like her can't do it, you can tell it's HARD. You have to be amazing, like supernatural, at dancing to make this work. I can't dance myself at all, but I can tell -- it's ALL the subtle tiny movements, the control, the feeling. Yeah. Everyone can do the moves, but almost no one can make them look good but Taemin.

Couldn't agree more! I think the only thing Momo was lacking was the atitude for this concept because she was on point in everything else. And the only dancer I think would nail this in the first try is Lisa, really wish she would do a cover...

You should watch his performance on Seoul Fashion Week, it was his first Move stage also his performance on Dream Concert in 2018 the rain make it more badass. Personally both of these stages are my most favorite Move performance

Thanks for the reaction vid. Taemin is King and this is one of his iconic performances as others have said. Just to let you know, that female dancer was not late in turning her head. When you watch other Taemin choreos, you will notice that they often do moves in waves or off the beat. Many examples of this in his Criminal dance practice video: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/ppd_eql9z9q4lac.html

The girl he danced with is a japanese choreographer who had worked with Taemin before MOVE. She's a year younger than him. Taemin aimed to genderless performances.
