Hall & Oates are a great American pop rock duo who had their biggest success in the 70's-80's. They had a lot of great hits such as "Rich Girl", "Kiss On My List", "Private Eyes", "Maneater", "Out Of Touch", "She's Gone", "Sara Smile", "You Make My Dreams", "Family Man", "Say It Isn't So", "Method Of Modern Love" etc.

This music video got A LOT of airplay on MTV, and the song soon crossed over to the Pop/Rock radio stations and became a big hit for Darryl Hall and John Oates.

When they were popular, I was more of a heavy rock fan, and didn't really appreciate them. I did see them in concert in the 80s. Now that I am older, I can appreciate the talent! Daryl Hall's voice is just fabulous! Sara Smile was my favorite back then. Check out Daryl's House with Ce Lo Green! Ce Lo does a great version of this song!

Around 2012 Daryl started his channel called, LIVE AT DARYL'S HOUSE. Himself, a set of musicians welcomed an artist to the home. They jammed to Hall& Oates songs/ and or their own songs. There's quite a few of these videos. Please react to Cee Lo Green, live at Daryl's House, I can't go for that. It's such a great jam!!!

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE HALL & OATES!!!...SHE'S GONE, SARA SMILE, MANEATER, KISS ON MY LIST ARE JUST A FEW, GO DOWN THIS RABBIT HOLE, YOU WON'T REGRET IT!!!!!! YOU SHOULD ALSO CHECK OUT; LIVE FROM DARYL'S HOUSE, JAM SESSIONS WITH MANY OTHER ARTIST....The show features singer-songwriter Daryl Hall performing with his band and various guest artists at his home in Millerton, New York.[1] The show provides a performance space that is an alternative to live concerts and studio sessions for popular artists. This allows the artists to "…have fun and [be] creatively spontaneous".[2] The majority of shows include a segment in which Hall and the guest artist prepare food from different cuisines for everyone to eat. The food comes from various local restaurants and the chefs of those establishments walk Hall and guest through the preparation of the food....ENJOY!!!

Back then I was a kid who had no clue about music, but I was a little into their songs. They did have this kinda pop version of R&B going on, and have said that Black radio stations gave them more of a chance in the beginning. Daryl Hall is definitely quite a singer. I gotta recommend “She’s Gone”.
@loristone92427 ай бұрын
This went to number one in early 1982. Reminds me of being in the 8th grade singing this song and dancing around to this song. We were too young to understand why it was so great. We just liked it and it was on MTV. Our generation was so lucky like that, we all grew up listening to all kinds of music because of stuff like MTV and local radio stations.

Daryl Hall is an amazing singer and their partnership is a great one. daryl s Mom is a vocal coach who taught him to sing and play starting at age 3. This song has been sampled so that is where you've heard it before. Please react to Sara Smile...it is exquisite.

The song "Billie Jean" was inspired by this groove in another No. 1 hit this from just two years earlier, Daryl Hall & John Oates' "I Can't Go for That." Jackson, who co-wrote "Billie Jean" with producer Quincy Jones, never reached out to Hall & Oates about the track and was unsure if he'd crossed a line.Mar 18, 2022

They are both in the 'We are the world' video & are shown on camera however only Daryl had a lead part. He sang after Steve Perry, from 'Journey' & right before Michael Jackson sang again. minute 2:35. John is shown at 3:35. Many big stars like Harry Bellefonte & the Jackson's were shown when the camera panned the group singing along, but only a few actually had lead parts. Heck Dan Akroyd is singing along next to Harry.

Funny you should mention The Temptations, masters of the Philly Sound and just happen to be Daryl Hall and JohnOates heroes. Daryl described hanging around the Liberty Hall and running errands for the Temps just to be around them. They were able to do a live performance with The Temptations at Liberty Hall to honor them. Look it up and see how much they loved each others music. John and Daryl really were so influenced by their idols.
