Let me tell you how of much of a legend she is. Was top tier on call list for background singers, Luther Vandross most notable, who talked her into recording an album. She did. It slayed so hard she won a Grammy for it...this song. She felt more comfortable singing background and never wanted to record another album.

This was 1991, at this time Whitney houston was huge, Mariah Carey released her 2nd album and was hugely popular, Madonna, janet jackson, Celine dion, Micheal jackson etc, the competition back then was insane

Yes we really had a variety of Great artists that gave us excellence in their perspective lane!!! I loved them all for what they gave us and I hate seeing them compared to one another, I appreciate them all, and truly miss the ones that aren’t here to give us some fresh music. Btw do forget prince was still in there too.

Patti and Aretha was still owning the charts too, it she managed to win a Grammy among all that competition. And I feel like Phil Perry was in her background, but I’m not sure. I would love to hear someone react to Phil Perry songs.

Lisa is what is best described as a "singer's singer." I've worked with some of the best known vocalists on the planet, male and female, and they've all brought up Lisa Fischer at some point. She is to voices what Stradivarius is to violins. Simply amazing. Still is.

Every time I see a new reactor I recommend the great Lisa Fischer. Lisa is still alive and performing in and around my native Brooklyn, NY. She is still just as beautiful and can still hit that F6. She is as good a performer as she is a singer. The problem is reactors and people just seem not to want to listen. This woman is one of the great pop singers of this era, the equal of Whitney or Mariah. She sang background for Luther Vandross for 22 years. The movie "20 Feet From Stardom" centered around her. Lisa just avoided the superstar spotlight in favor of living a more normal life. I'm so glad you found her and I hope many others will

R&B singers then, never copied anyone's sound. The Melody sounded familiar 😃??? Nope.....Everyone had their own style that they were known for. She's on a who's who list. She was Xena and had a charting single. She did some work with Stevie wonder before luther hired her. She loved singing w/ luther because of his signing and arranging which gave her the opportunity to just sing. She toured with to a turner, rolling stones, Louie Vega just to make a few. She recorded gimme shelter with the stones as well. I know Lisa and still go to her shows. I knew her back when she was with luther. Amazingly sweet and wonderful
