Some italian insight for the italian-language puns (from an italian metalhead)... 1) Emerald-Emmenthal then procedes with Fontina and Taleggio, that are also 2 kinds of italian cheese. And "Madre stagionata nel tempo" translate in "Mother seasoned during time" also a recall for cheese seasoning. 2) "Candles in the Winx": a pun between the famous Elton John's song "Candle in the wind" dedicated to Marylin Monroe (who kinda looks like a Barbie?) and "The Winx", who is a brand of dolls for young girls (like Barbie) and the creator is Iginio Straffi, who is Italian. 3) "Raperonzolo": translated "Rapunzel", who is also blonde kinda like Barbie and I guess they used that name for rhyme purpose-only. 4) "Barbie-Papà": the pink mascot that is seen on screen is a Barba-Papà (with the pronunciation of Barbie kinda recall the italian "barba") 5) Emerald-Emmenthal then procedes with Cortina D'Ampezzo, wich is a famous village in north of Italy near Alps where rich people go to ski. "Jerry Cala in controtempo" is a very subtle one: Jerry Cala is an italian actor, famous during the 80-90s italian sexy comedy movies, and some of them take place exactly at Cortina D'Ampezzo. If you listen carefully, the line is sung "backbeat" witch, in italian, is translated "controtempo". To close this one, the fast "Maraca" is sung on the notes of the song "Maracaibo" of Lu Colombo.

So, I was a fan of Rhapsody of Fire for years before I ran into this, which was my introduction to the glory that is Nanowar of Steel. The fact that I could instantly recognize the music being parodied was a big part of what drew me in and I've been fans of theirs since.

Sorry I got to your reactions so late. I see the comments have already explained several references from Italian already. I'd like to point out something here. For decades, Fabio Lione was the singer for Rhapsody of Fire, probably the most famous and successful Italian power metal band. The band's original name was Rhapsody, but they had to change it to Rhapsody of Fire at some point for copyright issues. The original name of Nanowar of Steel was just Nanowar (a pun on Manowar, where "nano" means "dwarf" in Italian), but after Rhapsody changed their name, Nanowar also parodically changed theirs to Nanowar of Steel. This is why the logo at the beginning of this video looks like "of Steel" was added in spray paint like an afterthought. Also, at 5:51 "Barbie Turilli" is a reference to Luca Turilli, the guitarist for Rhapsody of Fire back in the day. Which is then a hook for "Barbie-turics". Note: the graph you see on "Barbie turics" is the molecular structure for (guess it?) barbituric acid.

This song in filled with references from Rhapsody of Fire songs like Rage of the winter, Unholy Warcry and Knightrider of doom. As usual there is some reference to Italian things like Fontina and Taleggio (two tipes of cheese), Jerry Calà ( a comic actor) and Luca Turilli (ex-guitarist of Rhapsody of Fire). If you like power metal you should check out Excalibur by Luca Turilli's Rhapsody or Fast Radio Burst by Turilli/Lione Rhapsody.

How in hell is this track looking like children of boddom???? It's pure Rhapsody and of course with the front man on it!

As already said, Nanowar is paroding Rhapsody of Fire with their singer cameo. But what nobody mentioned here, is that connections here are much deeper. At one point of time, during legal issues, Rhapsody had to add "of Fire" to their name. Nanowar couldn't stand aside, and decided to mock them by adding "of Steel" to their name. And it really pissed off Rhapsody and Fabio :D

What I notice is that the US has Steel Panther - a parody band that mocks the glam rock style from the late 80’s with goofy lyrics. They are the response of Nanowar of Steel, which started to mock the European power metal scene. Basically each band is parodying the most famous style on its respective continent. What is awesome about Nanowar is that even though their lyrics are comedic and absurd, the music itself is 100% tribute to the style with the same level of instrumental and vocal mastery required for the genre stylistically. Another great examples of what I am talking are the songs “Ironmongers” ( about Mr. Bricolage) - imagine a better Manowar song, and “Quest for Carrfour” which is a mind blowing Blind Guardian parody, in which the protagonist is lost during his adventure at the grocery store in search for the chilly sauce

Fabio Lione is a very famous italian metal singer...he has been the singer of many italian band like Labyrinth,Vision Divine and of course Rhapsody...he is now the singer of Angra. Next suggestion for Nanowar : Quest for carrefour or Ironmonger:copier of the 7 keys

I am kind of torn between Nanowar achieving worldwide fame after being sued by Mattel (manufacturer of Barbie dolls) and being left in peace. I remember Mattel suing a pop group called AQUA when they released a song called "I am a Barbie Doll" in the late 90s for copyright infringement. In reality, they were angry about Barbie being portrayed in a negative way. The lyrics contained tons of sexual innuendo, portraying Barbie as a sex object. However, they were far more discreet compared to this video. Just for your information, Mattel lost the lawsuit! 😉😁
