Agust D is ranked as one of the most influential producers and songwriters in South Korea, who won multiple awards over the past few years, including best producer. He debuted at #9 on Billboard Hot 100 Songwriters Chart. He became the first male soloist in history to have a song and album reach No.1 on iTunes in 100 countries each. He is ranked Billboard's Top solo Korean Album Artist of 2020. His mixtape "D-2" debuted at #11 on Billboard 200. And there is just a few of his achievements. He has two self-produced mixtapes: "Agust D" (2016) and "D-2" (2020), which broke several records on music charts worldwide. He uses his platform to talk about important topics and most of his lyrics touch such subjects as mental health, social issues, the contrast between dreams and reality, etc. To put this simply, in this MV king is his past self. The other one is his present self. So he shot his past self. "Daechwita" is a genre of Korean traditional military music, which was played to announce the arrival of king. He is not only a soloist, but also part of BTS (his stage name for BTS is SUGA) and produces/writes a lot of songs for BTS as well as for other top artists. Agust D was an underground rapper and was the only established producer before joining BTS. Yoongi as a "soloist" was described as the "KING OF MUSIC INDUSTRY" . He was charting under THREE DIFFERENT NAMES. As Producer Suga (for artists like IU and Halsey etc) as BTS Suga and as Agust D. His produced song and collab with IU was BTS Dynamite biggest competition in charts. Yoongi is so amazing that his solo song is competing against BTS.

Hey, you found Agust D the same way I did! I have a random youtube recommendation to thank. After Daechwita, I went the path of his mix tapes (which are amazing). And then to BTS and from there, down the rabbit hole. There is soooo much fantastic rap ahead of you if you keep going. Agust D's D-1, D-2 - all the songs are so dope. My favs are The Last and Moonlight/People/What do you think?, and maybe Give it to me - hard to pick and I love each one for different reasons. Agust D's rap is for me very raw and very personal. And for BTS, my favs are The Cyphers! Joke! Ugh! Ddaeng! - although you'll probably want to watch explanation videos for some of these - Ddaeng for sure - so you can get the word play. RM's rap lyrics are, I kid you not, works of poetry wrapped up tightly in an insane beat and tied with a bow of superb word-play unlike anything you've heard heard before. J-Hope (the 3rd BTS rapper) is another amazing rapper with a very different flow and feel. For me, his rap is mostly something that gives me energy and joy, but don't be fooled, the man can kick your butt with the intensity when he so chooses. He is also a killer dancer.

Yoongi has said that although Daechwita has many historical references as well as “hidden traps”, it’s up to the listener to interpret it as they wish. Min Yoongi was 25 yrs old when he released his long awaited 2nd mixtape AGUSTD D2.

Both Suga and Rm was undergrounds rappers before Bts, the third rappers J-Hope was a streetdancer for 10 years he learned to rap when he joined the company, he is the danceleader in the group

Trivia: the gun used at the very end of Daechwita is a "The Colt ARMY model 1860". Another of BTS shootouts to the ARMY fanbase.

The are amazing as a group and just as amazing on their solo projects which are basically self-produced work released as mix tapes. What is crazy is that they release all of their solo projects for free on sound clouds. Complete with an insane video for the title track such as the one you have just reacted to. Not for sales but just to share their insane talent and to do their own art outside the BTS group. All the rappers of BTS have released mix tapes so you should definitely check them out if you are into rap and hip hop. I knew you’d like it! E/ of BTS’s rappers have solo stuff (RM, Jhope, & Suga/Yoongi/Agust D). Off the first of last years new albums there are 3 mv’s (persona, shadow, ego) & they show off their different styles really well. On the same album they also did ugh & respect (neither have MVs but there are color coded lyric videos & DKDKTV did an explained video for Ugh bc there is a lot of Korean references that go over westerners heads). Next try on kinetic manifesto black swan MVs (they are all 7 boys but heavy hip hop/trap). Then the rappers also have a series of 4 cyphers

He learned that sword dance in two days!! He is a member of BTS and his name in BTS is Suga but Agust D is his solo work name. Also he actually has been one of the first solo works to get onto billboards (I believe for kpop; I could be wrong). He also is one of the most influential artists in Korean. ARMY, I don’t know a lot of what he has accomplished with his solo work so correct if I get something wrong or mixed up. I am fairly new to BTS, so I have a lot to learn still.
