From my perspective, this comeback is less about the song but the video, or rather one isn’t complete without the other. The lyrics of the song talk about how Suga rose to success and how he started with nothing and now has it all. However, he talks about it in an almost self absorbed way. In the music video, Suga starts off as a peasant. Then you see him as a king, representing his two sides; his “old self” and “him now.” Though, you can tell the king is a disrespectful and dishonourable ruler as throughout the video he’s beheading people and standing on his servants (corrupted by his power). Suga’s “peasant” self goes to see the king, only to be captured and planned to be killed. This is a representation of Suga killing his old self, but in doing so he would lose his true self. HOWEVER, the peasant isn’t killed because the king’s followers turn on him and serve the peasant, as he is a fair ruler and someone who deserves respect. In the end, Suga kills that selfish, entitled version of himself, balancing his success with his empathy. If that makes sense, I know it’s a bad explanation.

I absolutely loved this reaction video- The comments section is plentiful with explanations, so I'm just going to add more explanations. Several of us believe that this was an homage to him shedding his past self. The arrogant king was supposedly meant to represent the old 2015 version of Agust D who in his mixtape was displaying more rage and arrogance, hence the blonde wig correlating to when Yoongi's hair was blond (maybe). When the king laughed off at the future Agust D (depicted as a "slave" or "peasant"), it perhaps meant how the first version of Agust D was rather stubborn and maybe even complacent about the future and didn't want to risk losing what he had. But this new version of Agust D was meant to represent a more mature and humble version of Yoongi that values his relationships and success and wants to become a force in this world without forgetting where he came from and how his hard work got him to where he is now. The killing of the king by the peasant meant eliminating his past self and allowing himself to embrace more uncertainty and challenges as he grows as an artist and as a person. There has also been a lot of speculation on smaller symbols, like the jade keys and car representing the keys to his successful future, the sword versus gun use representing the past versus the present, the representation of the seven people in front of the car representing the seven members of BTS, the blindfold representing how even though the "second version" of Agust D as a peasant/slave is blindfolded the king is blinded by his own arrogance, etc. Even if you pay attention to the lyrics, you can see that they vastly differ based on which "version" of Agust D is on screen. A lot of the time where the king is on, the lyrics tend to be more ignorant and boasting, whereas the future Agust D is more about appreciating success and being humbled. And the lyrics flow with the storyline quite well.

I think you should also react to Agust D 'inturlude: set me free' it's quite short but I think it would be cool to see you react to it, because it's so different from what Yoongi usually does.

Well, the music video will make more sense when you pay attention to the lyrics, but I can definitely understand why you didn't. This mix tape is under the name Agust D, instead of Suga, because he can rap how he wants, curse words and all, and talk about things that might be frowned upon as an idol. Granted, everyone knows it's him and Big Hit supports him to the point of releasing the video on their KZfaq channel and promoting it on their Twitter and FB accounts, but it's sort of the principle of the thing. Yoongi is very blunt and honest about the things he thinks and feels and both of his mix tapes are emotional roller coasters that make a LOT of people cry. He's a true artist.

So for ur information, Daechwita means "great blowing and hitting". It's a genre of Korean traditional music consisting of military music and generally performed while marching. Fun fuct : Yoongi is related to the last empress of Korea, Myeongseong. So basically, he is a descendant of the famous and important Min clan (yeoheung min)who belongs to the Joseon dynasty and one of the most admired Empresses of this family is Myeongseong.

I was similar (probably times more) when I first found this MV (the first time I've heard Suga rapping in solo project) and I'm not from music industry and have never been into rap, Suga made me love this genre, it's just so much sole in his performances.. He's unbelievable and on some unreally high level, so talented! I learned how much hardship he went through in the beginning (and he fixed his shoulder problem only 1 year ago when he was missing on MMA 2020..), so much respect to him. I've read in some comments that his lyrics/performances are helping people a lot to go through difficulties in life, people make tattoos from his lyrics.. I can't stop watching 'Agust D' and 'Interlude', and 'The Last' sometimes (it's so much pain there though and so brave of him to share the depth of his soul and struggles)

Lol, I love this song. Sooo good. And in this song AugstD is saying that he has trouble sometimes telling the different between knowing when he is the king and when he is the slave. The king being the part if himself that enjoys the success, the fame, and the fortune. And let's it take over his mind. While the other side of him. the slave remembers where he came from, and does it's best to remind him of the struggles, and most importantly the hunger and drive of why he put himself and those around him (BTS members) through the struggles they went through to get to where they are now. That's why the video ends with AugstD shooting the king, which represents the Ego that has taken it's own form. Its him saying while that side of him exist, it can not win. Also, I havent checked myself, but I have seen people saying that you can find the whole Mixtape on Spotify. Which makes since because, BTS always releases their Mixtapes for free as gifts to ARMY.

Okay, the music video theme is a very old Korean tradition, which I believe is called hwarang . Back then during those times, if you came from a royal family you were able to become a king. Suga is from a royal family, but in the music video he has a scar on his face. It’s said that back then if you had a scar you weren’t allowed to become a king, but in the mv suga broke that rule and became king anyways. Another thing I should mention is, you can see that Suga has two different outfits during the mv. One where he has a sword and long blond hair, and one where he has black hair and more normal clothes. It’s like he plays two different characters. One of his characters is supposed to be his past self (when he has black hair) while the other character (where he has blond hair) is his present self. This may make the music video more understandable. I’m not sure if him playing two characters was confirmed or not, so don’t quote me on. This was just a theory fans made up based on the lyrics and the music video. Your welcome :))
