Because it's an acronym, it should be spelled like this 👉 G.O.A.T. Otherwise, you're calling him a smelly barn animal with a reputation for consuming various objects, often times things that most creatures would not put in their mouths.

Greatest athlete in any sport. MJ was the perfect storm of natural born talent, insane work ethic and the absolute killer will to win. He was also as good on defense as he was on offense which is something you cant find in today's NBA.

Such great body control. Even players with similar verts don't really jump like him - he was a master of extending his body while he was in the air to maintain height for slightly longer than just about anyone else ever could.

6 ft 6, strong legs, and core, large hands, long wingspan, insane leaping ability, ridiculous reaction time, crazy front end and lateral speed, the best body control in any sport besides gymnastics and swimming that’s I’ve ever seen. Cokehead determination (lol), laser focus on his goal, unshakable will, near sociopathic competitiveness. He had the footwork, elite midrange shooting touch, finishing around and above the rim with both hands, acute sense of geometry and angles, low and high post game, off ball game, good passing when he needed to be, elite on ball and team defense, one of the best rebounding guards, THE best shot blocking guard, good ft shooter, capable 3pt shooter ( not great but capable, as in not a liability). The man had no true weakness to be exploited. You knew he wasn’t a 3pt shooter but u couldn’t make him pay for it. U knew he would shoot rather than pass but u couldn’t stop him from scoring. And when he did choose to pass, he was even more dynamic. Ur best defender could only just barely sent his armor but no one could stop him one on one. NO ONE. He was a pit bull on defense. Very few could withstand the pressure of being locked up by mj. That’s lost is maybe 5 or six people (Kobe, Mitch Richmond, bird, Kobe and maybe a few others). The man was the closest thing to basketball perfect there ever was and likely ever will be.

They say Jordan was a weak 3 point shooter but what they don't do is look more into it yes he would be classed as a weak 3 point shooter in this era where its the biggest part of the game but back then he wasn't he was average compared to everyone else so as you say he didn't really have any weaknesses and is the closest to a perfect player as we have ever seen and ever will see

We all know, if he had to be a three-point shooter... he would have been the best. In the finals against the Portland Trailblazers, he was dared to shoot three-pointers, the next game he finished with 39 points, including 6-for-10 shooting from 3-point range, tying the record for 3-pointers made in a game.

32292 points in the regular season, 5987 points in the playoffs, and that’s in spite of him effectively only playing 13 full seasons since he only played 18 out of 82 regular season games in 1985 due to an injury, and retiring and un-retiring twice. If you take out that one injury in 1985 and the 2 early retirements he probably could’ve played 18 full seasons. His average was 30.1 points per game in regular season, and 33.4 points per game in the playoffs.

Michael Jordan was just so much better than everyone else. The list of basketball hall of famers who never won a championship or MVP because they played at the same time as Jordan is long. When the critics said he was just a scorer who wouldn't win a championship in a team game, he made his teammates better and won 6 championships. When they said he was all offense, he worked on his defense and won a defensive player of the year award, led the league in steals 3 times and made the all NBA defensive first team (top 5 defensive players in the league) 9 times. When they said he couldn't shoot 3 pointers very good, he became one of the best 3 point shooters in the league. He scored just short of 33,000 points in his career. He dominated the NBA to the point where he won 3 consecutive MVP awards and 3 consecutive NBA championships, then retired from the NBA in his prime. Went and played MLB baseball for 2 years with the Chicago White Sox , unretired and came back to basketball and won 2 more MVP awards and ANOTHER 3 consecutive NBA championships!

Jordan didn't score the most points in the NBA (other players had longer careers). However, he had the most points per game of all time. And he was the best scorer 10 times (that is, on all the occasions when he was not a rookie or injured and in which he played the whole year). He has a much better average per game than today's players, when the rules disfavor the defense and it is easier to score.

One of the things that, to me, makes him and others of his era so great, is that defense was a much bigger part of the game than it is today.
@TheIcemanthomas
@TheIcemanthomas Жыл бұрын
Defense is a big part of the game today. It’s just totally played differently. And the offense is much more advanced which makes defense a lot more difficult one on one. Back in the day the floor was shrunken more. Today, team defense is far more complex to combat the rules that limit one on one defense.
@Lizards_Lounge
@Lizards_Lounge Жыл бұрын
@@TheIcemanthomas yes, we've heard this over and over.. I'm not buying it. Remember that thing called TRAVELLING, carry...double dribbles?..oh and CHARGING. It's not MORE ELITE, it's LESS RESTRICTED what offense can do.. you give me a rwf who doesn't call any of these things and I'll also run rings around the defense. All that you said is NARRATIVES spread by ESPN and other NBA outlets.
@waynelowe3329
@waynelowe3329 Жыл бұрын
@@TheIcemanthomas offense isn't more advanced they just take 3 point shots mainly and even when they do go to the net they don't get beat up like they did back then most players these days wouldn't cope with that they would either be constantly complaining or hardly play because of little injuries. Most fans who have been watching through the era's will say these day's basketball is boring compared to back in the day.

Believe he scored 32,000 points but he could have scored well over 40,000 if he didn't take breaks in the middle of his career. He took five years off. The first time was in the middle of his prime because his father died and his father always wanted him to play baseball. The second time was because he wanted to stay with his coach and the team were driving his coach out of the team no matter what they did

He was the ultimate trash talk, but lore times than none, it’d be his cocky opponents to set him off. Say anything slick, he’d embarrass you that very next time you met. And don’t dare say anything to him while you’re actually playing against him. People have many different opinions. Some say LeBron. But the closest we’ve ever seen is Kobe Bean Bryant.
