Hi. Dimash's mom is a soprano and his dad sings contemporary music. Dimash once said that is 99 % hard work and 1% talent. He practice everyday for 3 hours so imagine how much he practice when he has a concert. He puts in a lot of work, and if you listen to the newest songs and music videos you will see that he has just gotten even better. Dimash’s first performance on I am Singer was SOS. The day after the show aired, Dimash needed security since he gained a lot of of fans overnight (I don’t recall the exact number). Dimash’s native languages are Russian and Kazakh. His English has improved in recent years. He is respectful of all countries and usually learns a few words of the host country, and has sung in over 15 different languages but doesn’t speak that many. His sister Raushan is studying medicine I believe but his 16 year old brother Mansur is studying music and wrote the song Together for which the music video just dropped. The show I am Singer is not an amateur competition but only includes established performers. Dimash was a wild card entry from Kazakhstan. If I’m not mistaken, there are two previous singers of SOS who were known for their renditions, but have passed too soon. The song itself was part of a French Canadian musical called Starmania. Dimash won the Slavic Bazaar competition in 2015, he’s back as a guest in 2018. He’s thanking the competition here for his big break. In 2021 he was one of the judges and he did a few songs as a guest artist. He received about a hundred bouquets after his first guest performance (the song was Love is Like a Dream), It was so funny!

Dimash has sung in at least 15 languages so far. He also is a multi-instrumentalist and does martial arts.

SOS was the first song and he was the first contestant of that season. And the man you pointed out was not contestant he is one of the music companions. And the competition show is filled with established Chinese singers. Slavic Bazaar is also a competition show too, but Dimash won that one in 2015. He was singing as a guest performer. Sadly the original singer and composer had died even before Dimash was born. Lyricist is still alive but who knows what he thinks. Dimash speaks Russian, Kazakh, English and a bit of Mandarin Chinese. But he sings in over a dozen languages.

The other reason for smile was relief. He was invited to this contest as a Wild card performer. All the other performers are famous chinese singers and they had no idea who Dimash was. He went first in the contest because nobody thought he would be able to compete against the chinese singers. Worse, he stubbornly chose a song in french, instead of mandarin, and one of the top 5 most difficult songs to sing. Everyone expected him to fail.
