Take the weight further up before you drop it down, lengthen the stroke. I’m sure the Parmiter post knocker I used had a length of roller chain rather than rope.

Thanks . The weight doesn't go any higher currently but that may be down to way the rope been fitted.

yes mate some did have chain . forklift mast chain to be exact but they dont flow as smooth and had a tendency to snap after a while due to chain slap . boat mooring rope with slight strech ive found to work best

yes the rope goes back to the boom yours is wrong also from memory our old parmeter had like a gate / post holder on the bottom below the weight , yes leave it on all 3 legs on the floor , have a look at a few pics on google possibly but it seems to be working well , we also changed the top link on the post banger to a double acting hydralic ram using another spool on the tractor to save manual winding but we never bothered to adjust much , nice video

The contractors machine had a plate to hold the post in place I wonder if I could make/add one. The double acting top link sounds like a good idea, I might price one up. Thanks again for the feedback, much appreciated

We Have the older Parmiter banger works best when greased up well hydraulic top link makes life easier
